The reason it's only 4 years is because these are the county/state charges and not the federal ones for depravation of rights under color of law (i.e. Title 18, USC, Section 242). Once he is found guilty at the county/state level, the DOJ/FBI should step in and file an indictment for federal charges. Hopefully, he gets slammed and convicted for the full 10 years, but it will probably take dozens, if not hundreds of people, to contact the DOJ/FBI and ask them to do their jobs unless the county's DA or state's DA sends a request in for federal charges.

None of this case makes sense. I hate lawyers. I hate cops. Neither of them know how to tell the truth. They twist and they scheme and they violate peoples rights every day in this country and then they blame the victim. That poor boy just wanted a bike. He saved his money, and he was buying it by himself. His only crime? Taking too long to check out. Why didn’t somebody just help him? They taunted him, they shamed him, they made him feel less than. We pay these people to do their jobs. This was not their job. This is another reason why I hate self check out, along with Walmart, accusing people of stealing and demanding that they repay what they already paid in letters three months after they made their shopping trip. Most people will just pay it. They pulled a woman out of the parking lot and told her she didn’t pay for her groceries. She paid 280 some dollars. They took her in the back room. They handcuffed her they called the police. They arrested her and took her to jail. And guess what she sued and she won $2.1 million for false accusations and false arrest. This young man did nothing to be arrested for. I don’t care if target told you to get him out of the store or not. If you can’t negotiate with someone to get them to do what you want without violence and gross manipulation, including the guilt in the shaming, you don’t belong in your job. All he had to do was pay for that bicycle, the cop should’ve stood up to target if target told them to remove him. And the cop should’ve said here. Let me help you pay for it and help him put the money in the GD machine. This man is the real perpetrator and if target asked him to remove this man, they are in a conspiracy against the victim who they then arrest. There’s no respect for members of the public from law-enforcement. I don’t even think retailers respect the public any longer. There are always going to be thieves, there are always going to be development, disabled peopleon this planet. If you’re in retail, you’re gonna run across them. You better get used to it or go to a different industry.
