I basically spent the same on the mac mini as my old pc 1.3k with education savings since im in college. only down side is the gpu is slightly less powerful but for what it is I could play fallout 4 just fine. Im not a gamer so I don't really give a shit the gpu is enough. just personal preference, spend your money and I wont judge and I spend my money how I want you you don't judge your money your decision.

Although it was a lot like the Mac at a quarter of the price (hence the nickname Jackintosh). A lot of musicians used them that couldn't justify Macintosh prices. I used to have an ST, back when PC's were MSDOS and Win3.1 only. Eventually Windows caught up after 6 or 7 years (and I don't mean Win95/98). Tramiel contributed a lot to computers back in his time. Pity both Commodore and Atari came to an end. Who knows what the PC landscape would like like now if they were still around.

Im a iPhone user since 2009 and im content overall. But when it comes down to computing, a Mac is a pure CLOWN FIESTA regarding the price. I can build a PC which is 4-5 times faster and more efficient than a Mac with 1/3 of its price. Mindblowing.

I mainly laugh at their green policy, they removed the charger, headphones and the box is small and supposedly for the sake of the environment :D It's just for bigger profits and they present themselves as really keen to recycle but the false goal is to sell as many products as possible at all costs even if they are exactly the same as the previous ones, and on top of that new updates after new product release will deliberately slow down older models and make the cameras worse so that users buy new ones, what's green about that? It the biggest waste of all times in name of profit.
you may not know this but the dimm/sodimm is a hell of an implementation for SOCs that support a limited number of chips. Many SoCs support only 2 ram chips, while a dimm/sodimm requires a huge redesign thats large in physical size for pins and many things, so in terms of cost and size its a problem to do. it may not appear it from the outside but SoCs like ARM and apple have a lot of other processors on the same physical space to accelerate specific tasks. Upgradeable SoCs exist, just check the ARM ecosystem, its too damn expensive. Not only can you upgrade the CPU but the ram on the same block. its more expensive.

Same here. I have my MB Pro 2015 stuck on Mojave because my old non-subscription Adobe suite would cease to work. Meanwhile, my Windows computer sitting next to my MacBook can run the 2001 program on Win 11 without any problem. Not buying any Apple soon.

I clearly remember paying £29 for a wired numeric keyboard in around 2007 and at £45 or £50, the wireless keyboard was considered to be grossly overpriced. Apple fixed it, it seems. There’s no wired keyboard anymore and the wireless costs a fortune. By the way, I just upgraded from my 2009 iMac that had 16GB of RAM and I still use it occasionally with most tasks.
The comparisons would work better if you used a 2230 SSD and SODIMM memory... although an RGB SODIMM would be hard to find. Also, not even the Framework laptop has a socketed CPU, and even in desktop machines that do, an individual socket doesn't tend to support more than a generation or two of CPUs.
Chips will always be expensive due to minor upgrades that give a huge boost. You'll never see chip manufacturers selling reasonable. They make more in bulk from the orders they get.

@@whohan779nah, vista was a whole different breed of awful. No one remembers it fondly, cause it was unstable af, a security nightmare and just generally bad. So was windows 8, but for different reasons. 7 was ok at least.

Same here. I have my MB Pro 2015 stuck on Mojave because my old non-subscription Adobe suite would cease to work. Meanwhile, my Windows computer sitting next to my MacBook can run the 2001 program on Win 11 without any problem. Not buying any Apple soon.
@@oldadajbych8123 I still play for my Strategy channel, Star Trek The Next Generation, Birth of the Federation. A game released in the late 90s. Sure I use DXWND to get it to run in a window, but still. I know what you mean.
The idea that doubling the capacity the second time would also cost a mere 200 bucks is what is really unrealistic here. It’s 200 for the first and 600 for the second, obviously.

If it has removable ssd, there is a hope that some third parties will produce larger storage that we can replace. I'm glad I didn't go with higher storage :)

You may not be able to upgrade the SSD or the CPU, but at least you can download more RAM
I clearly remember paying £29 for a wired numeric keyboard in around 2007 and at £45 or £50, the wireless keyboard was considered to be grossly overpriced. Apple fixed it, it seems. There’s no wired keyboard anymore and the wireless costs a fortune.
By the way, I just upgraded from my 2009 iMac that had 16GB of RAM and I still use it occasionally with most tasks.

The comparisons would work better if you used a 2230 SSD and SODIMM memory... although an RGB SODIMM would be hard to find. Also, not even the Framework laptop has a socketed CPU, and even in desktop machines that do, an individual socket doesn't tend to support more than a generation or two of CPUs.
Chips will always be expensive due to minor upgrades that give a huge boost. You'll never see chip manufacturers selling reasonable. They make more in bulk from the orders they get.
