  • Learn why prophetic leaders taught the Civil War was a judgment from God on both the North and the South-and Mormon's prophetic parallels within the history of King Limhi and his people!

After the martyrdom of Abinadi, King Noah and his people attempted to kill the followers of Abinadi’s teachings. They were driven into the wilderness and saved only through divine intervention. The judgments of God then manifested themselves as contentions increased and the people were on the brink of civil war. The Lamanites invaded the land and bound the people into slavery.
Much like the people of Alma, the saints were driven out of the United States and led by the Lord to safety. At about the same time the Cherokee and other formerly Lamanite tribes were forced to relocate outside the United States as well. The nation had driven out much of the purest Israelite blood from among them. Through the nation’s rejection and slaying of the Lord’s prophet, the Lord did come out of his hiding place and vex the nation, just as he stated in D&C 101.

Powerful videos every time! I love the no-nonsense approach to the gospel! In a world that's obsessed with being overly gentle and cautious... it's refreshing to hear someone not mincing words and getting right to the facts. 👏👏👏

My ancestors lived through those experiences. My great great great grandmother died back in those days.

It seems that the wars get more intense with each passing generation. The deceptions to keep wars going also seem to be more fantastic. I appreciate the analogy of what happened to Limhi compared to what has happened here in the USA during the Civil War & what seems to be continuously going on through all wars around the world.

Great work. Fascinating to be able to compare and contrast Limhi and Alma’s people experience. It has led me to live humble, penitent, and doing good works to have the grace of God watching over me in hard times. Remember you do what you train so if you want Heavenly Father to help you when times are rough we need to be working with him when times are good.

Thank you so much Hanna for this video and making the clear distinction between The Constitution and "the nation".
The Constitution WILL BE preserved, HOWEVER "the nation" it's leadership and its people as we know them is an entirely different story pending adjudication moment to moment.
"Consent of the governed" has been clearly and distinctly broken which does give the immunity to the people in part,
I'm just concerned it will be trojan horesed covertly again effectuatuating equal condemnation across the board...
The worst thing that could happen is that what is happening today get majority approval in the color of whatever else, but i don't [intellectually] see that happening...

D&C scriptures where the Lord mentions the civil war: 87:1, 87:6, 101:89, 45:63, 29:8. The reason for the civil war in these verses is clear - It was due to the wickedness of the nation in rejecting the gospel and driving out the saints. Good job, Hannah.

Interesting. I didn't want it to end where it did. Awaiting "The Rest of the Story", as Paul Harvey use to say. Thank you for sharing your research into this topic.

Many years ago while visiting my sister in Virginia, we went to the Washington DC temple. When we walked in the door, a sister asked us if we would like to participate in a stake project to do the work for some of the families of the men who President Woodruff did the work for. We were delighted to participate. I did an endowment session for an ancestor of Robert E Lee. It was a cool experience that I dont think would happen today.

These warnings are intended to inspire us to righteous actions. Social media is full of the warnings from church leadership throughout the church's history but devoid of the complete righteous message.
These warnings, whether they come from Joseph Smith or any other prophet, seer, and revelator, are meant to have actions and they're also accompanied with promises. Raising a righteous family, strengthening our testimonies, and walking in line with God's righteousness are the really only way to move forward with these warnings. That's their ultimate purpose, to inspire righteousness.
There was a time when warnings like this convinced Lehi and his family to pack up and move. We may find ourselves in similar situations. We may find ourselves hunkering down in our communities. We may find ourselves leading many to the gospel when these calamites happen. So many make physical preparations and yet so many ignore the spiritual preparations.
18:30 This is the exact correct answer. Repentance.

My father's side is all Utah pioneer stock and my mother's all from the south. Our family endured the hardships of being converts to the church and building it up in the south following the Civil War. It was still not easy for them. Sometimes I like to see people's expressions when I say, "Yeah, I descend directly from 5 civil war veterans, all on the south." Some really do a double-take! lol... That's just direct ancestors. If I counted cousins I don't think I would ever stop counting. If you could walk and carry a gun, you were enlisted in the south. Anyway, certainly slavery was a wicked practice. Of that there is no doubt. That's that main driver for the scourge that was already going to take place. I sometimes wonder why so many in the south fought even if they had nothing to do with slavery. Well, to have a scourge of this nature, you have to have two sides who are going to fight it out. It's very interesting to know that Stonewall Jackson was among those wanting his work to be done in St. George. Today I do all of my Louisiana and Mississippi cousins that I can, and let them accept if they choose.

    Rating NC 17:
When you teach that Limhi's ingenuity supplants the God inspired miracle you dilute Him. Thank you for your research but spreading history over humility is in itself priest craft, while current prophets plead peacemaking and turning to Christ for all. Teach us your particular born again stories so we may understand rather than scratch our heads, not recognizing our own.
