I’ve been using this for 6 weeks, it’s terrific. I also have a lanyard that I leave on all the time so I’m ready to fly in seconds. One caveat - make sure the RC controller is really off before you shut the lid. One day I went to fly and the controller was completely discharged, I didn’t realize I had left it on because the lid covered the lights. A mistake you’ll only make once!
That’s a good clamp on the controller. What I would definitely buy immediately would be using a similar style body clamp to attach a range extender , like the yagi range extenders you sell for other controllers or coupled with a parabolic reflector. I know internal antennas would be a harder job but upping the reach of the smart controller to the N1 would be fantastic. No one has attempted this passively yet so you would have the entire market to yourself.
Cool product. What would be great if it had another, slightly shorter panel that hinged at the bottom, which just covers the screen. That way, it would open just as shown. But then be able to flip up this second panel to form a shroud over the top. Keeps it simple and straightforward - which is what I like, but improves its effectiveness
Thanks for the post and we actually have a second version of sunhood that we're still testing that is a little more elaborate and covers more of the screen. This one is simple and easy to use so I did the review for it first. I'll have one for the RC Pro and a second one for the DJI RC reviewed in about a week on the channel.
This is definitely a great product. The only issue is that the only connection is the two screws on the bottom and it feels like it pulls back near the back top.
We are testing three new ones right now and will have the best one listed on our website and I'll post a clip as well to let you know it's available. The design is a little different for the DJI RC2 because of the new antenna on there. Stay tuned for an update soon. Rick
I got one of these made for the RC 2. It fits like a glove. However it is very difficult initiating a screen recording on the RC 2 with this on. It is tricky swiping down from top of screen to start screen recording. Did you come across that?
Mark, thanks for the feedback. We've had these for a while but got a little delayed in testing over the holidays. I also got a new Knee for Christmas so I've been resting up a little. I think it's a great accessory and it really helps with the sun. Stay tuned for more content this week. Rick
@@navaho5430 LOL, nope mine is attached to my leg and it was a long time coming. I should have done it years ago but I'm glad I finally took the plunge. I'm on the mend and should be back to 100% in a few more months.
Hey Rick. Accessories are getting better and better. It just looks like this will protect the sun only if your facing it. Doesn't look like much of a hood over the screen with the sun behind you. Looks like you mentioned that in a reply you wrote. Another question is with the sunhood attached and closed. Will it no longer fit in most of the formed cases for the RCcontroller. Thanks Rick for all you do!
Ordered mine and received it yesterday, Thanks! Can you tell me the thread size on that? My handlebar mount uses the same bolt holes and I'd like a few more threads to go into the controller when both are installed together.
Thanks a lot for supporting the channel. I did goof on the initial title so please confirm that you'll be using this on the new DJI RC (Gray) controller. We'll be shipping it out in the morning. Rick
@@Dronevalley Yes, it is for the RC pro, I recently purchased the Mavic 3 Classic. I follow your channel on a regular basis. I like that you present useful non-drone accessories also!
@@peterjb49 Yikes, this Sunhood only fits the new DJI RC (the gray one) and won't fit the RC Pro. We goofed on the initial title and have since updated it. @@Dronevalley Hello Rick! I received my screen shade just an hour ago and I really like the design concept. The only issue I am having is the difficulty going from the lower shade level to the top shade level. I have to use a lot of pressure and it seems "sticky." Regards, Pete.
Bill, thanks for the post and we have a larger order of these arriving soon. Send me a note - Rick@dronevalley.com and I can let you know when they arrive and send one out the same day. We brought in a smaller quantity with this initial order and folks seem to love them. Rick
Jeff, you should be fine. That mount uses the two screw holes in the bottom of the controller for attachment like the one we offer. This Sunhood uses the two smaller holes on the rear of the DJI RC Pro to attach. This product only fits the new DJI RC Pro and we'll have another one that fits the other Smart Controller models in about a week. Rick
Off subject, new drone owner . Question on flying. The height that my controller is displaying if it's out away from home point. Is that the actual height from where the drone is at that time. Or is it based on where it took off. Ty. Anyone?
That height will be based on where you took off from with current DJI drones as far as I know. This is based on my experience with the DJI Air 2S in particular. Higher-end drones (or future drones) might be able to figure out actual above ground level altitude.
No, right now the new DJI RC only works with the Mini 3 Pro, Mini 3, Air 2S and the Mavic 3. I'm hoping they will expand that further to include the Air 2 and the Mini 2 since both of them are using O2 like the Mini 3. Stay tuned to the channel for updates, Rick

Hey Rick,
Any news on availability for these or an updated version? This looks like exactly what I'm after.
Thanks!
Does it affect the signal leaving the controller making range shorter ?
I sometimes have a problem with reading the screen. Have you found anything which would go over the screen and act as a magnifier ?
Put one on mine three months ago very handy

unfortunately flying on the beach, i need a real hood.. and something that allows me to pinch fly, not thumb-on-top guess ill have to keep looking..
will this fit the RC Pro?
do you deliver to the uk,i use paypal for payments.
