- SHAZAM or Captain Marvel is one of the oldest DC characters out there but has never truly gained the recognition many other characters have. It could be due to the fact that he's somewhat looked at as a semi rip-off of Superman or his character was simply more popular during a time where his character made sense for a different generation of fans.

My next suggestion could be…….Plastic man, yes plastic man please, people think he is an annoying character, but he is actually a very good character with powerful abilities.
There is no hot takes he is too perfect
My favorite DC character is Ambush Bug - he usually gets no hot takes
I think people treat Shazam too dumb. I mean he literally has The Wisdom of Solomon.
I ve been thinking about a Wonder Woman event where there is some kind of tournament between the champions of each Panteon. Ww obviously representing the greek. Maybe its to avoid an actual war between gods, but when the conflict inevitable comes shazam has to intervene as the paladin of all magic.
This is such a good comic idea. Perhaps Wonder Woman would fight against the champions of the Norse, the Aztec, the Egyptian, and maybe the Hindu and Buddhist pantheons! That would be a good tournament arc.
That's the main problem with her: she doesn't have memorable events! Knightfall and All Star: Superman were good.. why not her?
Honestly, Shazam does have an unique gallery of foes known as the Monster Society of EVIL lead by the wicked Mr. Mind. Also, I did not like how the new 52 take on Billy Baston and how they made him more of a jerk. In my opinion I rather have the Shazam character be called Captain Marvel and have a mixture of elements from the Golden Age version of the character. Have him be an orphan child like in the original. Have him befriend Mary and Freddy first and then lead into the three Billy (s) forming the original Captain Marvel family. After a Climatic battle the three Billy (s) die saving the day and their power is sent to Eugene, Pedro and Darla forming the modern day Shazam family. I rather have him be more like the Golden Age version of the character where his intellengence is increased when he transformed.
Going back to his rogues gallery, there's a question that needs to be asked that I haven't seen put out there: Should Black Adam still be considered a shazam/captain marvel villain? Although Black Adam started out as a villain for billy batson a lot has changed for black adam as time has gone on. He's effectively been given the venom treatment where he started out as a villain who had a grudge against billy while also knowing who he really is and had matching powers to exploit that knowledge to eventually transitioning into a more anti heroic figure who put his vendetta against billy behind him and use his abilities to better uses. He was even a member of the justice league (I think) and given that not too long ago he was given a movie with Dwayne Johnson that put him more on the heroic side, the question needs to be asked, is black adam a shazam villain or a shazam character?
I've felt as soon as Wonder Woman discovers that
Billy / SHAZAM are connected to the Greek pantheon, she would take on a mentorship or the role of a relative. Also, Billy should be can be immature at times with a good heart, but if you have the wisdom of Solomon you shouldn't be immature in that state.

I really wished Billy was called Captain Marvel because that is what he was originally called. Shazam was just the title of the book not his actual name. It is a cool name but Captain Marvel is better.

Mister Mind is another Shazam villain alongside, Sivana and Black Adam, and an underrated villain at that.
Completely fair response to what I said. I often forget Levi is hated nowadays and while I don't dislike him in the second film I do agree there are times where he's trying waaaay too hard to be funny and it comes off as cringe/annoying. Great video!

I think that the way to work around aging of the actor could be by just giving the power to someone else, it could be the end of his character arc, he learned to use and appreciate his powers and then he needed to give it up for some... comic book reason. And later magic mumbo jumbo and something can give Shazam's power to someone else.
Mark Waids brilliant current run has him called The Captain which is fine. Shazam and the Shazam family are great but they are something I’ve loved since the 80s and 90s when they showed up.
I think you could have a kid actor getting older work. Like, 12 in the first film, 15 in the second, 18 in the last. I think he was like 16 in the jsa comics at one point.
The character still being a kid is what kills the character. He needs to age up and be given some more mature stories.
Shazam in Wonder Woman’s world would work very well. In Greek mythology Hephaestus takes pity on the male children of the amazons and saves them maybe one of Billy’s distant ancestors is one of the babies that Hephaestus saved and Aries who hates that the amazons worship Artemis gives Billy powers so Billy will defeat Wonder Woman and the Amazons but it fails and Shazam becomes a hero and Aries makes Black Adam as the second attempt. If I ever make a design for a Greek Shazam I’ll post it in the discord.

I'm going to just throw out this opinion and there's no disrespect The reason why some people don't know anything about Captain marvel Shazam is DC's fault themselves. And offense is everyone's ignorance to Captain marvel shazam's history like Captain marvel was out selling Superman back in the day The reason why we don't get a chance to see half his characters is because a lot of them was greater during world war II and their offensive but they're good characters it's just that some people find them offensive. And the Shazam family I don't like what John's and DC did when they added all that unnecessary diversity inclusion crap but Captain marvel family usually is Captain marvel Mary marvel and Captain marvel Jr That's really all you need for the characters and the only reason why you're only saying black Adam is interesting is because when the rock said that he was going to be black Adam DC made sure they put time and effort into Black Adam more so than Captain marvel you know what I'm saying because the problem is DC don't want Captain marvel to become popular because it would overshadow Superman is what they will worried about That's why they brought them in the first place but yeah really the reason why a lot of people don't know much about anything or the reason why somebody's opinions are like that is because of the fact that DC has you know shelf most of Captain Marvel's history and lore so that way the character can't really become anything great because if you go back and see some of his golden age stuff and some of the stories that he had post crisis you would know the characters pretty amazing and he already joined teams before he joined the Justice League and he joined the JSA He's usually more with the JSA than the Justice League anyway but to sit up here and say black Adam and Mary marvel are more interesting than him when honestly Mary marvel haven't had a book in years and every time they do a Shazam thing they try to pursue horn her in there but that ain't really much of nothing es pecially like I said the the reason why most people don't know nothing about them is because DC has shelf them so therefore of course people don't know how he has a monster society of evil that that's a actual villainous group that Shazam Captain marvel family can actually you know use but they choose not to I just think it's weird to kind of disrespect the character because most people are kind of absent-minded over his history which is again no fault to DC but you know I really wish they would release his material so people can read it instead of trying to downplay his world and his characters and only use him sporadically and then try to elevate Mary marvel and Black Adam it's just like wait hold on you can't even get Billy batson Captain marvel right but you trying to focus on a villain and his sister.

Yea speaking of star wars i do tend to prefer sith over jedi as well.
DC is different for me since most of its heroes are Just peak and they have peak villains as well it Just depends on peoples preferations. I tend to prefer heroes over villains most of the time but i do prefer adam over billy like i said before.
That being said i think he deserves to have like his own villains and lore (just like punisher, both anti villains/anti heroes who get the job done and have their own solo stories) that being said black adam is one of the next hot takes? 👀😂
I personally think that SHAZAM shouldn’t be a grown man. I think that Billy should be a teen. Part of the Titans, and when he shouts SHAZAM! He does get the costume and everything but he remains the same age as Billy would.
He said his name in the War movie. He can say his name. It's how he's says. If he yells it, he changes. Cause it's like he callin out the wizard.

I liked Zachary Levi in the roll as well.
I am disgusted with the way DC has done this character. They did him dirty. He was once the fourth major property of the DCU (Bats, Supes, WW, and Cap). The diet Cap idea of his Cap form exhibiting a kid persona instead of the way he used to be has overtaken everything. Yes he was acquired but so was WW.
Do not further poop on him by having his mythology absorbed by WW or any other.
Cap is best as a 10 year old who gets a magic word and gets to be his idea of a hero with all those great powers from those great legends.
7:36-8:16 would make a good clip for RUclips shorts IMO.
The part of the name, I always think that is funny the idea that he can’t say his superhero name just like that. I always imagined it like, when he save someone and thanks him, he has a presentation card that says: Hello my name is Shazam, you’re welcome.

I mean I ain't disagreeing. Snyder's trilogy of films are the last DC movies I've liked. Ever since, they've made DC films feel like comedy, action/adventure with no real flavour or inspirations.
So she is a little bit mature version of Bill.
Call him Captain Thundèr and he should be on the Titans
