    Americans changed there diet as advised since 1970. What do we have to show for it, diminished health, increased disease and death. I started a LCHF diet seven weeks ago, lost 20 pounds and feel noticeably better. Thank you for your videos. You are making a difference in people’s lives.

      Geza - Which statement that Dr. Berry uttered is a lie? And what evidence do you have to support your claim? Ken D Berry, MD, FAAFP, is a Board Certified Family Physician and Fellow in The American Academy of Family Physicians. He has been practicing Family Medicine in rural Tennessee for over a decade, having seen over 20,000 patients in his career so far. - shouldn't be too difficult for you to check with the FAAFP about his credentials.

    Wasted a year and a half of my life and totally wrecking my health believing the WHO. Even after I stopped eating vegan and started to incorporate cooked meat back into my diet I was scared to eat cured meat. I found this so liberating knowing that I can eat sandwiches and holiday ham without feeling guilty now. Thank you so much you have freed me from my doubts. I could cry right now. I am still recovering from nutritional deficiency and cell damage.

    After a heart attack at 50 I went along with the "Diets" for years. Later I had 2 stents. I fought high triglycerides and low HDL since then. Stopped eating red meat for years and guess what? Had double bypass surgery at 71. My HDL was never more than 30 and my triglycerides was over 200. After being on the Keto diet for the past 2 months I have lost 20 pounds, my triglycerides is 133, my blood sugar is around 90-100 consistently and my HDL is 39 for the first time ever. This diet works.

      Thanks for the video Dr. I wonder if any of these "studies" consider grass fed meat or the results are based on standard raised meat that is injected with growth hormones, fed GMO derived grain, and then processed and packaged with nitrates, nitrites, MSG, fillers, and any other chemical.
      So, is it the meat that causes cancer or the feed and additives?
      Can you please give an example of a healthy processed meat? I don't eat any ground meat product unless I grind it myself.
      I believe if there is any association with cancer and red meat, it is most likely the additives that are the cause and not the meat.

    I used to love steak, eggs, bacon, ham, butter, sausages, and black coffee with cream, before they told me it was bad for me. Thank God I can eat those things again without the guilt or paranoia.

    My grandmother died peacefully in her sleep at 104 yrs old so did her mother, she was 102. Neither were vegan/vegetarian.

      My great granpa made it to 106, my granparents passed away in 91-93 and they are not vegans. Funny thing is when we told vegans of how many people had lived longer without vegan diet they will start saying bs like "people who smokes can live up to 100 too!", "it just genetics", etc. But when a vegan died in 100+ years old, they quickly claims it because of the diet. LOL.

      Only about 2% of centenarians are vegetarian (I'm not sure any vegans make it there. veganism, total vegetarianism, is still relatively new, started in the 1930's).
      That means 98% of centenarians ate meat and, so far, 100% ate animal product.

      My grandma passed away at 98, her brother 99, and her 2 sisters, 107 & 108. Even my great-grandmother lived to 96, which was quite a feat for the time. All grew up on a farm, and became farmers, and all ate beef, pork, dairy, and eggs regularly. None smoked or drank alcohol.

    I have been doing carnivore for the past year, but finally strictly for the last two months. I no longer have hypoglycemia or endometriosis symptoms, my anxiety and depression, memory and brain function have massively improved, I’ve lost thirty pounds and I have ENERGY. I have been vegetarian/vegan all my life and have always been sick. I can finally sleep well!!! I have had doctors who tell me I should be eating pasta and veges, right after I tell them about my hypoglycemia and celiacs disease and can no longer tolerate plants. 😵‍💫 Carnivore has saved my life!!

    People often warn of the dangers of a high animal fat/protein diet. I like to tell them that I am well aware of the dangers, as it killed my grandmother at the age of 101. Interestingly all of her five children (my father included) died of, or with, cancer between the ages of 58-80. They all followed a low fat diet and took cholesterol lowering medications recommended by their doctors. I know which path I will follow. Thanks Dr Berry for helping people determine their own health destinies.

      Thank you for this comment - I’ve been scared to incorporate red meat into my diet because of these cancer scares, but I know my body needs it. My grandpa has a high red meat/animal diet and is still hiking at the age of 74, and is in really good health.

    If people did a tiny bit of research into who the president of WHO is, snd what he did to the country's people that he dictated to, I think they'd think twice about who WHO really is and what they are about. It's not about good human health.

    I finally figured it out, unless it is infectious disease or trauma, whatever conventional medical advice is, do the exact opposite and you will be okay. Great video, thanks for all your time to teach us these things.

      Thats pretty close. Western Allopathic medicine is fantastic for emergency situations...but beyond that it's incredibly short-sighted​ and often misguided.

    Thank you for this informative video. I am a vegetarian who felt my views were supported by the WHO when it came out against meat and processed meat (deli). Like many, I just went by the headlines and articles for lay people in the vegetarian/vegan press. Talk about your bias!
    I am a PhD with some training in stats (I'm a qualitative researcher) and taught research methods for years (including teaching grad students about bias in their work). Even with this background, I just went by the headlines, which reinforced my belief that processed meat had to be terrible for your health.
    I still wouldn't eat it, but I no longer believe that plain meat - a steak, a chicken breast, etc. - will hurt you. Of course, it kills the animal, so there's that issue, but in terms of diet, natural meat products are probably okay. Despite my personal beliefs, I have to look at human history and recognize that most societies eat some kind of meat. None of us would be here if it were that bad for humans.

      calendarpage I think I eat more vegetables than a vegetarian, even though I’m a meat eater. The Paleo and Autoimmune communities recommend 10-12 cups of vegetables a day, and do not recommend meat that is from CAFO ( Confined Automated Feedlots). The problem was never the meat... it was the sugar and starch and gluten that was consumed with the meat. And it was the corruption of a healthy product (meat) with unnatural, unhealthy and inhumane practices like confining the animals and keeping them in such filthy, unhealthy conditions that vast amounts of antibiotics were required to keep the animal “healthy “. Many people in the Paleo and autoimmune community support Ranchers and farmers who practice these more expensive but healthier ways of raising animals. And we who buy their products pay a lot more for these healthier and more humane farming practices. In my house, in order for us to be able to pay for this better quality food, we give up other things, like a vacation. Many things went wrong decades ago, as sugar consumption was encouraged rather then identified for the destroyer of health that it was. As with many things, if you follow the money, it will lead you to many powerful forces that work against healthy farming practices... these powerful forces spread disinformation .... after all look at how much money is made by the pharmaceutical industries on insulin sales alone....

    Thank you for this informative video. I am a healthy 80 year old woman. I have not had a cold or flu in over 40 years. I eat red meat, eggs, butter, and cheese with a single serving of vegetables every day. Some days I will eat fish or seafood. I've not had alcohol or sugar for the last thirty years. I am ridiculed by vegan and vegetarian friends, or those who substitute meat with chicken and turkey. I started my meat struggle back in the day when the government put out the food pyramid that suggested eating massive amounts of grains and almost no meat. My family always served meat when I was growing up, so the food pyramid was a shock to me when it appeared and everybody was hailing it as a savior.
    Recently, I watched a documentary about Aancient Britain reporting our hunter-gather ancestors who were extremely healthy, as they only ate the meat they hunted. Disease began to enter into their lives when they settled down and began raising grain products for food. Also, watched another documentary about the female reindeer herders of the far norther area of Europe. They only eat meat, always healthy.

    I have struggled with gastric/bowel issues for most of my life and tried eliminating various items (eggs, milk, meat) from my diet in and effort to ease my divestive/health problems, but guess what no improvement and if anything the problems got worse.
    Then several months ago I decided to try a Keto/IF eating plan and the effects have been a revelation!
    My gastric issues have disappeared, as have my inflammation/arthritic issues, as have my vast amount of belly fat.
    So in my 70s my health has improved dramatically, I'm back to a waist size that I haven't seen since my teens!
    All down to a healthy diet, of "Bacon, Butter and Beef"👍👍👍👍👍👍

    After being diagnosed as a diabetic, I was advised, of course, to cut out saturated fats and get plenty of "good" whole grains and oats. I tried being vegan for a while but it didn't help. Metformin didn't seem to help either. Started keto a couple months ago and I had to ween myself off my meds because my sugar was getting a little too low!! When I was first diagnosed a year and a half ago, my FBS was 351 at the doctor's office. My A1C was over 11. I wasn't too overweight (31 years old at the time, weighed about 190-200, and 5'9" tall) and I had 0 symptoms, so I had no idea. I just went in from an infection from a tick bite (tested positive for Lyme's at the same time as diabetes). As of now, my morning FBS is running about 120, going down steadily over the past couple months. During the day time it stays around 90-100. I know with time that 120 will go down, as it has been doing from where it started. The ketogenic diet has literally saved me. It would never have crossed my mind in a thousand years to eat lots of fat and avoid carbs. Without this being known and shared by others, I would have continued with the doctor's recommended diet and it would have just ended badly, early for me. Thank you, Dr Berry, and to everyone else who is putting this info out there for us.

    Thank you for these studies, it's exactly what I was looking for. I am also genetically inclined to colon cancer and have had gut issues as long as I can remember, I'm 37. I just had my first colonoscopy this year, and am scheduled to have them every 5 years from now on. Since going keto 3 months ago, my gut issues have improved significantly. 🙏

      I would also add Intermittent Fasting especially 24 hours. They heal gut issues. Dr. Mindy Pelz talks about this. Just search her name and 24 hour fast. Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting is a lifestyle change and it works. I've been doing since early 2019. I'm now mixing it up because our bodies get used to the same ol same ol so I'm doing ADF (Alternate Day Fasting) going at least three days of no food only water and high quality electrolyte powder in my water.

    As a Psych undergraduate I am learning the importance of quality research and how to properly obtain data so this blew my mind. I have been weary of processed meat for awhile but this video has helped lighten my perspective. I also am going Keto again and have found your videos to not only be helpful but educational!       We've been eating mostly fiber rich food for our whole evolution and that's a lot more than thousands of years. Being not biased helps solving questions.

    I dropped my health insurance last January because Providence raised my monthly payment to $768.00 per month with a deductible of $ 6500.00! Meaning after paying all that money, only after suffering a catastrophic event and paying for it myself, insurance company extortion kicks in.
    I'm living healthy now since I've found Dr Berry and Dr Berg.

    Hey Dr Berry thanks heaps for your videos. I am a few months into a Keto - OMAD way of life. I have dropped 16 kg and have never felt better. I’m 48 hrs old and until I discovered your videos (and a couple of other channels like yours) I was resolved to live a life of obesity. This video in particularly is important given I am a farmer and grow and kill my own meat on farm.
    Have you done any other videos on processed meat… like shop bought vs home made salami? In particular the effect of nitrates on our health.

    To be honest I never really believed that red meat was bad because it caused cancer, I wonder if you have done or could a video about if it is bad or not due to the hormones and antibiotics and diets/living conditions given to the animals during their lifespan. I would love to eat meat from the grocery store to save money but I feel like I must stick to organic/free range/grass fed type proteins and have them less often than I'd prefer to. Like this if you agree!

    Dear Dr. berry,
    This info is invaluable to me.
    I have been a carnivore for a while to get my blood sugar and insulin down. I also noticed, whenever eating a salad or any veggies, I had cramps at night, likely from the scraping.
    I had a persistent notion that the meat could be doing me harm even knowing all the benefits. Now I feel at peace with it. Thanks so much

      You do not have a very diverse gut microbiome to break down the fiber. Maybe you should eat more fermented foods.

    These studies should be done on total diet. What did the people eat with their meat? Were their meat and potatoes fried in Crisco(hydrogenated cottonseed oil) or some terrible vegetable oil? A lot of people fried their meat and potatoes in Crisco and baked pies with Crisco but because they ate meat then it must be bad. Barbeque sauce is also loaded with sugar and chemicals. Also how many soft drinks and alcoholic drinks did they drink per day? Did they ever exercise or spend time in nature? I wouldn't trust the WHO for anything. They are trying to depopulate the planet.

    It's been one month since I started Keto. I do get cravings for the high carbs and sugar lately. It's amazing though how little sugar that I need to satisfy those cravings. I picked some berries a few hours ago in my back yard. Not many. Less than two cups in total. A mixture of blackberries, blueberries and huckleberries. I'll eat them in about an hour from now with maybe a half a cup of heavy cream poured over them. It will be an explosion of sweetness in my mouth. Been eating wild berries for a few weeks now. They have been my carbs for the most part.

    I come from a cattle ranching family. We eat meat 24/7 to ripe ole ages over 100 years old! It's meat WE grow. The problem nowadays is that we don't know what is ADDED TO MEAT after we take the cattle to market. WEF suggested years ago that adding an irritant to meat could make people 'naturally' turn away from meat.... so go figure. Our fam knows that home grown, personally fed (not bought grain or hay that can be tainted) bovine meat has not caused us any cancer. Cigarettes, chewing tobacco & booze is what gets the REAL cowboys lol

    Regardless of the cause of my death, cancer, car wreck, etc., when God calls me home I will be ready to go. We worry too much about this temporary life and trying to extend it. Real life is on the other side.

    Thank you. I've been carnivore for a month. I just watched an interview by Dr. Rena Malik with Dr. Stacy Loeb. Dr. Loeb quoted the WHO studies (which she believes are true) and scared the heck out of me. I'm continuing carnivore thanks to Dr. Berry.

    Doctor Berry, your videos are excellent, I hope you never tire of revealing actual facts and research results and those implications. Like many people I have concerned that with the amount of red meat I’ve eaten, I was highly likely to develop bowel cancer at some stage. It’s unbelievable that organisations can publish results without scrutinising or critiquing their own work - when I did my Masters Degree, my study on my chosen topic was reasonably small and I ensured I highlighted the flaws and potential for inaccuracy (that’s surely what good science is about - accuracy and truth). Your videos started my Keto lifestyle and almost 3 stone lighter I have zero regrets.

    I was reading about new-ish finds on the ancient Clovis peoples (in Texas), apparently researchers cant find evidence of plant based foods or agriculture and that causes concern as they believe "people can't live long on meat alone". I thought that was absurd.

    You provide the meat. I'll sign up for the study. I went full carnivore 11 days ago.
    3 day felt a little off like brain fog but was gone next day. I've had no stomach issues at all. Feel fine energy is growing everyday as I adapt.
    Hell my body has always been good at adapting to foods, waters (from other countries) climates, ect.

    I recently spent 12 weeks on a dietary program where I cut my saturated fat intake to no more than 20g/day. I'm an overachiever type so it was usually less.
    I cut heavily on red meat, egg, and dairy intake, to meet the criterion.
    My diet was excellent by usual standards. Whole natural foods prepared by me to be nutritious and delicious. Lots of vegetables and some fruit, most grains were whole, skinless chicken and turkey, cold-pressed olive oil.
    My total calorie intake was much the same as usual.
    The result: my okay LDL cholesterol went UP by 35 points! I lost 10 pounds I did not need to lose. I started getting more migraines. My concentration failed.
    The supervising doctor was horrified. This is not what was expected!
    She said my bloodwork showed that I was compliant, i.e. didn't cheat. My HbA1c remained good. My triglycerides were stable at 66.
    To me it's obvious: no universal optimal diet exists because there's no universal human.

      2. We’re all complex individuals & broadly diverse in our health profiles.
      3. There is no “One size fits all”, absolute, strict, diet recommendations.
      4. For people with an increased risk of colon cancer (me), including flaxseed is recommended.
      5. My question to Dr. Berry: Should Carnivores with a family history of colon cancer include flaxseed in their diet?
      6. And would such inclusion cancel the overall health benefits of a Carnivore diet?

    I read through the study desperately searching for the part where Dr. Berry said that red meat actually reduced the incidence of polyps. My son in law is only 32 and has the Lynch gene and has at least 3 pre-cancerous polyps removed every year. I was all ready to show my daughter this video and the study but it appears the study only determined that the people who were eating a low fat, high fiber diet and no decreased risk of polyps. It doesn't appear there even was a group who at red meat. I wish Dr. Berry would explain where I'm wrong. I'm hoping maybe read that technical jargon incorrectly.

    Hey Dr. Berry can you do a video on the prostrate? A couple years ago I was told by a Dr. I had an inlarged prostrate even though I had no symptoms.
    My wife and I have been on a keto diet for about 3 months and have lost 34 and 40lbs. We love the results and plan on continuing this eating lifestyle. Thanks for the good info!

      Anecdotal, one-person "study" with no diagnosis other than lowered coxafloppin level. And no, I did not study it that intensely. But.... Low carb, non-GMO has helped. Not back to 17 year old first thing in the morning but a definite improvement.

      Just don't grill it or sear it on a really high temperature. I think if you marinade the meat before grilling it is less carcinogenic

    Hi Ken, since a couple of months, I have been a big proponent of the carnivore diet- it just makes sense. However, of course I'm cautious of what I am doing to my body and have put in a lot of research to understand what is the ideal diet for me.
    to give you some context: I'm a healthy fairly active 28 yr old that has never really had any problem with food. I have always followed a Mediterranean diet having starchy based foods (pasta and rice) as staples of my diet. I have never really been fat- I'm 6ft and have never been heavier than 190lbs or lighter than 175lbs- what I consider a healthy range.
    However, since finding out how uncritical carbohydrates are to human function I decided to cut carbs out almost completely (I'm carnivore-ish- as I have some berries with yoghurt and honey in the morning). I am really convinced of the benefits especially when it comes to insulin sensitivity.
    I read through the studies you quote and something I read worried me:
    "Many lines of evidence indicate that the type of fat is very important to long-term health. Replacing saturated and trans with natural vegetable oils can greatly reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes. In the Nurses’ Health Study II we have seen that women who consume high amounts of red meat and high-fat dairy foods during their early adult years are at increased risk of developing breast cancer"
    Could you comment on this? I was of the impression that saturated fats were good for you

    Seems pretty clear it's epidemiological studies that cause cancer! Thanks for this video, summarises my thoughts on this nicely after I've spent a lot of time digging out the actual studies quoted in these articles and the w.h.o.
    I found it totally ridiculous that they ask people via questionairre what they ate in the last *year* (who could even estimate that?) and then see who dies of Colon cancer 20 years down the line. All the studies are like that.

    The only study I've seen pretty much debunked itself at the end and made no mention of confounding variables such as smoking, alcohol consumption and exercise habits. I'll take my chances lol

    We need to do a Highly specific and concentrated study on the affects of an all-animal(carnivore) diet. Subject is required to Exclusively consume unprocessed animal products for 24 months.

    Also, every test and scan imaginable has to be completed prior to starting and after finishing study, colorectal scans, blood tests, MRI's, muscle density, fat %. Every test imaginable.
    .
    .
    I would be more than willing to be the subject! It would be awesome to get to the bottom of the debate, and to learn more about the human genome.

      I double that. Although I like taking the MCT oil three times daily it started causing very serious heart irregularities, especially when I was trying to sleep at night time. After not taking it for 2 days my heartbeat is back to normal. I'd like to find out other people's experiences with it. Possibly I was taking too much or the wrong time of day. One thing I did notice is that it started burning my throat when I swallowed it before the irregular heartbeat started.

    My mother in law, sister in law and father in law all live the fat free American diet and all have had heart attacks early in their life. My mom was a vegan and then vegetarian for most of her life and was diagnosed with dementia by age 60.
    My grandmother is 90, lives on her own and limber and she literally ate hotdogs, deli meat, burgers (all home made) her whole life.

      If you only consume fresh meat with fat (No processed meat,carb, sugar, seed oils). You will be fine. Go to Anthony Chaffee channel for testimonials from cancer survivors who treat themselves with carnivore diet. Best of luck.

    Processed meats are loaded with chemicals. Definitely not good for you. However there is organic versions now. No preservatives, nitrates, nitrites or sugar. Even organic bacon and it's uncured with non of that stuff in it. It's really good.

    I think there is a strong inherent bias in Academia in favor of Plant Based diets (the more politically correct term for veganism). I think this is driving these co-called studies.

    The link to the Women's Health Initiative study listed above is from the Harvard School of Public Health and has the following summation at the end. "Replacing saturated and trans with natural vegetable oils can greatly reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes".
    It also has the following 'Fat' advice elsewhere:
    "Rather than adopting a low-fat diet, it’s more important to focus on eating beneficial “good” fats and avoiding harmful “bad” fats. Fat is an important part of a healthy diet. Choose foods with “good” unsaturated fats, limit foods high in saturated fat, and avoid “bad” trans fat.
    “Good” unsaturated fats - Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats - lower disease risk. Foods high in good fats include vegetable oils (such as olive, canola, sunflower, soy, and corn), nuts, seeds, and fish.
    “Bad” fats - trans fats - increase disease risk, even when eaten in small quantities. Foods containing trans fats are primarily in processed foods made with trans fat from partially hydrogenated oil. Fortunately, trans fats have been eliminated from many of these foods.
    Saturated fats, while not as harmful as trans fats, by comparison with unsaturated fats negatively impact health and are best consumed in moderation. Foods containing large amounts of saturated fat include red meat, butter, cheese, and ice cream. Some plant-based fats like coconut oil and palm oil are also rich in saturated fat."
    I prefer your view on fats so I don't think that is the greatest link to use as they promote processed 'healthy' vegetable oils over other fats.

    Wow! I have taken statistics, and I am astonished at how often "nutritionists" and the medical community push commonly accepted mythology as fact. I was grateful when my new Dr. was not critical of intermittent fasting, but encouraged me and actually looked at the evidence in my blood-work. This all highlights the importance of taking charge of our health and not leaving that to the "experts". Thank you for this video - kudos!!!

    Dr Berry, first of all thank you for doing these videos, I have a notebook and am taking notes, we started keto about 2 weeks ago and want to learn all I can. Thank you for explaining things in a way that all can understand. I have a question, do you know of any studies that show meat being harmful if charred,( carcinogenesis) we have heard this for years. Would love to hear you thoughts on this, as everyone I know that BBQ's chars their meat. Also will this diet help with arthritis? I am assuming it will because of the anti-inflammatory properties.     i read the polyps paper and the women’s health initiative paper, and i didn’t see a reduction compared to intervention group in either study like you claimed. i only saw there was no difference. can you show or explain how you got the reduction of cancer by red meat consumption from these articles?? thanks!!

    A recent study performed with people from infancy to age 15 has shown a very strong association between foot size and the level of reading comprehension. But do not worry, this is only a correlation, and correlation is not causation.

    Great video ..... Can you do a video on your thoughts on breast implant illness ? Do you feel it’s real and can create autoimmune disease? Have you ever had patients claiming they thought their implants were making them sick? I’d love to hear your thoughts

      Miss Mel I have a good friend who has had breast cancer twice. She has had blood/tissue work done which detected the same implant material which was later removed completely. She believed her illness originated from the implant and it appears the data she gathered suggests the implants can leak material into the human body.

    I went keto & after 5 yrs my hdl was in the toilet & my ldl was through the roof! Had to go on anti- triglyceride meds. I went from having ldl below 50 to over 200, had 3 heart attacks & am on the transplant list... I'm only 29!

    I am doing a research on red meat and cancer for my MSc in clinical dietetics, i have yet to find studies good enough to support what you say and trust me i like red meat ! The polyp research used FFQs and both the studies you posted primarily look at fat consumption. Further more both the studies tried to adopt a low fat diet to see the outcomes, both say that the fat consumption percentage was not lowered as expected and they say, that is why they did not see any good results on cancer. Im not taking any sides here, im genuinely trying to find some good research here. If you have some better ones please send them !

    I was a vegan for two years and it was the worst diet I was miserable all the time. I discovered the Keto diet and I lost so much weight put on muscle mass and had loads of energy. Keto is the saviour to your health.

    This is important to me, since tests indicate I've started developing prostate cancer. The other day the news said the red meat amino acid Methionine causes cancer. I don't know what to do exactly.
