China is the largest importer for 120 nations. Just look around at all the random items in your house... The knobs on your cabinets, paper folders, coasters, the plastic wheels on furniture.... we don't make any of those things. Drive across rural China and its factory after factory. Not only do we need to build these factories and keep them profitable, but we need to change our culture and work ethics. When China had a steel shortage, their civilians were out in their backyards making steel. We have a very long way to go.

Your show implies that Canada caved in yesterday by agreeing to spend $1.3B.
It's dishonest on your part to make your audience believe otherwise.

Trump forced them to act on what was previously just words. Get over it, Canada surrendered.... no, that's wrong. Trudeau surrendered, Canada just got their Prime Minister to finally do what he said he would do.

Just so you know, it doesn’t matter how much money he promises. He has to recall parliament and put that money into a bill. Any bill that has to do with money is automatically a confidence vote. All the parties will then vote non confidence and the government will fall and we will be in an election.

If we get charged an exponentially more rate than Canadians receive from us while we buy most of your goods, it doesn't seem like a very fair handshake. That's all people are saying right now. Nobody hates anybody but business is business. If we buy 77% of your goods and then you tariff us higher on the goods that we send to you than we do on yours. That's not fair is it?

Canadian here. I’ve lost family members who sacrificed their lives fighting alongside the Americans as allies and brothers. We are not your enemy. I know Trump received his “America First” mandate from you the American public, but don’t sabotage all of your closest alliances. What’s that saying, “don’t cut off your nose to smite your face.” Are there some trade agreements that need to be re-evaluated? Absolutely. Do we each have problems in our countries that require massive effort? Absolutely. However, let’s not go and permanently tarnish our relationship. The sentiment I am seeing build in Canada is worrying, although completely justified given the present circumstances. In the short-term, we may experience some economic hardship. In the long-term, I see the configurations of international trade completely re-configuring to exclude the United States, which will in the long-run be detrimental to your country. We are your allies, your brothers and sisters. Let’s not fuel more division and conflict, especially as the world becomes an increasingly volatile and dangerous place. We’re going to need each other.

Hey, I don’t usually comment, but there’s some misinformation in this video.
    Here’s the correct timeline:
    - Trump imposed 25% tariffs on Canada and announced they would take effect on February 4.
    - Trudeau tried to contact Trump multiple times from January 20 to February, but Trump refused to respond.
    - With no progress, Trudeau announced retaliatory tariffs on February 2, set to take effect on February 4-the same day the U.S. tariffs on Canada were set to begin.
    - Trump finally agreed to a call-scheduled for February 3 at 9 AM, with another at 3 PM.
    - They reached a deal, and Trudeau posted the tweet shown at 2:25 on February 3, after the call, around 5 PM.
Also, Canada had already committed $1.3B in December. For months, Trump ignored it but accepted the deal just one day before the tariffs were set to take effect. No one folded anything.
On the Canadian politics part- Saying Trudeau resigning is "false" is incorrect. He has resigned, but he will remain in charge until the Liberal Party elects a new leader in March. There is currently a leadership race. Him staying in power as Liberal leader has nothing to do with Jagmeet Singh. You’re confusing why the Liberals are still in power with why Trudeau is still in charge with the Liberal -two different things that weren’t properly explained.
Also, referring Canada as "Enemy" is a wild thing to put on your tittle..

People always talk about Canada taking advantage of US military might and not spending on defence. All I would say is name a single conflict the US has entered to defend Canadian sovereignty since the inception of both countries. The fact is there isn't any. I can name two different occasions since 1940 when Canada went to war and had soldiers die on the battlefield for no other reason than the US was attacked.
The first was December 7, 1941 when Canada declared war on Japan on the same day as the attack on Pearl Harbour. The United States itself did not make a formal declaration of war until the following day. The second was Canada's participation in the War in Afghanistan after the terrorist attacks on American soil on September 11, 2001.
Any perceived debt Canada owes the US has long since been paid on the battlefield in Canadian blood.

Valuetainment argues against Reagan because they’re playing a power game with China. America’s share of Global GDP didn’t drop because of their free trade, it dropped because many communist and socialist countries became capitalist and grew faster including China. Americans are scared of China because they fear the unknown but China in its 5,000 years has barely ever invaded or fought wars with other countries. That Reagan clip is interesting, I am Canadian and liked a lot of what he did, but he was not good for the working class, but neither has any president really for decades. It seems like Trump, and the republicans are trying to be the party for the working class now, especially because the Dems have shifted so far left. The reality of the trade between our two countries, is that the US buys a lot of our oil, at a discounted price, and then refines it and sells the finished product for a large profit. When you factor in those profits, the US comes out ahead by a large margin (100 billion a year plus).
They could replace Canadian oil, but our kind of heavy oil, which US refineries are built to accept, is only available at a few other countries like Venezuela, Iraq, and everyone's fave Iran. From a strictly business perspective, the arrangement with Canada is great for both countries. If Canada only cared about the profit, and could get all our provinces to work together, we would keep all our oil, refine it ourselves, and keep all the profits from selling the products worldwide. I love and cherish the relationship we have with our US neighbours. We have been side by side with each other through world wars and numerous tragedies. People in both countries have been upset with Trump, but I know for sure, regardless of what he says during these negotiations, he very much understands the real math behind our trade, and like about 80% of Canadians has been frustrated with Trudeau. Canada has not had a secure border since Trudeau took over, and we have not been living up to our spending to the expected GDP percentage requirement through Nato. It is sad that it took these threats about tariffs to get Trudeau to even partially do what should have been done for years. This will all settle down, and our great relationship will continue as it always has.

Trudeau tucked it back in? I think you need to re check that. Trump said he would raise tarrifs if anyone retaliated. What happend to that? Nah he quickly tucked that back in and made a a deal instead. Btw the deal involves Canada getting 200mil from the US for our border. Don't like Trudeau but people are forgetting he's in a perfect position to negotiate - his political career is over and he's worth hundreds of millions. He don't give a shit.

NAFTA sucked US jobs out of America. In Reagan’s time there was no NAFTA and its USMCA child. We produced goods in Reagan Era - now cars are produced in MX and not one TV is produced in US. Let’s just get back to US production in Reagan Era and we can cut the Tariffs down to keep it there.

And since Regan was in office what percentage of our jobs have been offshored and what is the percentage of imports to exports then compared to now? I think looking at this will tell if Regan was right. No tariffs protect American jobs? What has been the long and short term effects of no Tariffs? Back then things were produced in the USA and, thanks to no tariffs, the jobs that were supposed to be protected are gone. What jobs are we protecting with no tariffs today?

    • @nondy1344
      @nondy1344 3 часа назад

You say what? Things were produced in the US because there were less regulations and lower taxes. And there were tarrifs too, because the companies understood if they were to import into the US, it'll be more expensive.
Why is Apple producing most iPhones in China? It's the same reason. China's environment is more friendly with less regulations, affordable labor, and a cooperative government.

Canada does put money into the military; it puts a fair amount for a country that generally stands on good ground with all the other countries and doesn't have any major enemies, for as much as Trump wants to change that. The US decides to spend as much as they do in the military for reasons that are all their own fault. Don't fool yourselves into thinking it's because they are the best defenders of freedom for everyone else.
