Nayib Bukele was not known only as the Bitcoin guy…. He literally took the most aggressive stance on gang violence in El Salvador, and was overwhelmingly reelected because of the immense changes that happened in El Salvador in the decrease in gang violence, homicide and crime in general went down. My parents are from El Salvador, and I can definitely say with certainty that this was what Nayib Bukele was really known for. Yes he did put bitcoin on the map and that was notable, but it was his position on crime that made him Overwhelmingly popular.
He's arrested thousands of innocent teenage boys. He gave the police daily quotas for arresting people and any men that had a tattoo was arrested. A lot of the men in those prisons are innocent.
Maybe because El Salvador is around the size of Massachusetts state and there are countries way bigger than that. Not easy, I live near Memphis and let me tell you they cant control the criminals there.
@@warloshernandezThe same thing can be done in other countries who might be bigger, but as a result of being bigger they have more manpower and resources as a result of their size.

As someone who lives in El Salvador. 3 things concerns me about taking foreign prisoners. 1, How are we [Salvadorians] are going to send them to Venezuela? [or other country] 2 if that happens, who is going to pay the flights? 3 possible alliance with local gangs and get them more connected
I think that would stop people from thinking prison is a vacation if they know they would be sent to El Salvador which doesn’t have the same amenities and protection as a US prison.
@DanielOchoa-k9y I'm inclined to agree with that statement. I'm not so against sending illegal aliens who have been sentenced here to our prison in the US. It could determine them from coming illegal and also committing a crime while here.
FYI, little known factoid: 95% of federal laws are unconstitutional. Why? Because there is no underlying authorization in the Constitution for those laws. How is this possible? Ans: There has been no legal challenge, AND, The Supreme Court has not made a ruling. Just a point to keep in mind when discussing "constitutionality".
As taught by non nuanced US schools, history says that Panama sold the canal to the US through the Varilla Treaty. What really happened was a French engineer named Philippe Bunau-Varilla who lost money in the initial French Canal failure and still owned a large stake in property, made elaborate moves to re-coup his initial investment. Varilla persuaded the Panamanians he could get them independence from Colombia and was elected as a political official in the district of Panama. Teddy Roosevelt, the president at the time, was expanding the United States at a rapid rate and was looking to build a canal in Nicaragua. Varilla lobbied to Roosevelt that Volcanoes in Nicaragua would destroy his potential canal, even though the nearest volcano was 70 miles away. Varilla conveniently suggested the canal the French failed to build to Roosevelt, while almost simultaneously agitating the Panamanian-Colombians to revolutionize as a reason for Roosevelt to interfere. Once Roosevelt helped Panamanians gain independence, negotiations for the sale of land to the US began. No Panamanians were a part of the negotiations for the sale instead it was Varilla representing Panama, and John Hay for the USA. This is why the name in the sale is called Hay-Bunau-Varillas Treaty. Shortly after the sale, Varilla left back to Paris a celebrated man and lived lavishly. To this day Panamanians still curse his name as a “Judas-esque” type of figure for him misusing their trust as an official.
it is not fundamentally unconstitutional to have an convict imprisoned by another country other than their country of origin, as long as this takes place through a valid international treaty or agreement between the two nations- which is the case bet US and EL Salvador - and the prisoner's due process rights are fully taken into consideration. Each prisoner regardless of the crime has a right to representation.
Portugal did the same with their criminals 500 years to 100 years or maybe 70. They sent them to their former colonies, there's recordings / documentation to prove it.
Nooo! We want to reform USA 🇺🇸 inmates, period. Change the prison system, allow families to visit, and programs that gives hope and allows for change. We are basically a Christian Nation!!!
If we outsource all of our prisoners with illegal status, that will free up a lot of space for our own criminals. We wouldnt need to send prisoners that are citizens to El Salvador.
I agree whole heartedly with shipping US criminals to El Salvador, England shipped theirs off to Botany Bay, France shipped theirs to French Guiana (Papillon) But let's call it for what it is, if a "right" can be taken away from you, it's not a "right" but a privilege, like a driver license. I don't see a legal problem sending them off.
What most don’t understand is that a lot of the principles Bukhele is using to govern El Salvador come from his Islamic religion. He is one of the greatest Muslim rulers right now.
Interesting idea. would need to be very careful though, to make sure that there was a rock solid system in place to maintain humanity. It could be the sort of thing that slowly and gradually over time rots from the inside out and leaves the world in a situation we’d rather not have gotten ourselves into.
$47k a year? It was $100k for prison many years ago, with today's inflation it should be even more. Unless there's a difference with Fed vs State Prison.
