Nights is an unforgettable experience that really does deserve to be played at least once by any self-respecting gamer. It's art as much as it is entertainment.
People talk about hidden gems, and the Sega Saturn, they GOTTA mention NiGHTS. An ethereal masterpiece! Essentially lucid dreaming. With gameplay. What can I say, it's colorful and wonderful and fun with some cool bosses. Pretty impressive stuff for early 3D in 96. But the soundtrack is just on the above-and-beyond echelon of video game soundtracks, one of my all time faves ❤️
Love that opening aww my child hood memerios when my dad and mom were separated my dad showed up at 3 in the morning woke me and my little sister up and surprised us with a Sega Saturn it was the best night of my life
A lot of 3D graphics games from yesteryear look terrible by today's standards, but NiGHTS holds up surprisingly well. Still vibrant and pretty. It can definitely be updated with better graphics, but it doesn't look bad, even now. And it was so fun to play. A game that needs way more love!
What would you say about Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, Gran Turismo, and Spyro? I'm not here to defend them, I'm just asking your thoughts.
@@jacklazzaro9820 Most of those I didn't particularly play much, so I probably wouldn't be the best person to ask. I know Sonic Adventure looks wonky as heck now, and games like FFVII, which looked so good at the time, definitely aged a lot. NiGHTS has definitely aged, but I think a lot better than many others. I was pleasantly surprised seeing it again.
Still have this game and a Sega Saturn. One of the best game's I've got in my collection. Great Intro, superb soundtrack, great storyline. One to play over and over.
From the creators of Sonic the Hedgehog! VERY underappreciated game, even today. A beautiful dream unlike any other! I love flying around through the rings and stuff, wonderful soundtrack as well full of some SERIOUS earworms! I feel like everyone, even SEGA forgot about this classic, which is sad because I actually really liked the Wii sequel as well. Sure, Sonic is king, but I'd like to see Journey of Dreams on this channel as well some day.
This was the main game I bought my Saturn for, and still have to this day. Still feel great to fly around in it, I used to play it all the time. The massive Saturn analog pad was perfect for this game.
As someone who grew up in the 80s, I know a lot of my peers consider the 16-bit era the best for retro. But, for me, the more time passes ,the more I love the 32-bit. The PS, N64 and Saturn all felt different and were special in their own way. As an adult with a job, I can now go back and enjoy each system and everything it had to offer. Anyhow, thanks for the video. Always had a fondness for Nights.

The intro makes me smile, every time. Heartwarming. Unfortunately, the games graphics don't look so great, so I have no idea what's going on during gameplay. This needs a HD remake.
There are actually slight references to this game in future Sonic games. Along with the most obvious one being the NiGHTS pinball table in Casinopolis from Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes' special stages had the link system with the orbs you collect, encouraging combos for a higher score like in NiGHTS. Sonic Pinball Party on GBA had a NiGHTS themed pinball table as well, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg on Gamecube had GBA Link Cable support with a GBA compressed NiGHTS demo, and the most recent reference was in Sonic Unleashed, where in some day stages like Dragon Road, and Arid Sands, there are rings in the corkscrews. When you go around these corkscrews, all of the rings instantly warp to his ring energy guage. This is a reference to the loop system from NiGHTS, where Ideya orbs and stars get pulled to yourself.
I've seen a remastered version on the PS Store and Xbox live, and it also has a "Saturn mode" to play with the original graphics. Also if you complete each level with a C or better, it unlocks Christmas Nights Into Dreams as a bonus.
I grew up with NiGHTS Journey of Dreams in my Wii and it was the Last game to be developed by Sega Studio USA since they were folded back to Sonic Team of Japan. I hope Sega let Sonic take a rest and bring back NiGHTS since Takashi Iizuka wanted to continue the series and it would be for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One as well as Xbox Series X. I even came up with the story. It takes place when Claris and Elliot, the children of this game, are now adults and they're married and their children would be the next protagonists and they tell their parents about their meeting with NiGHTS while they were sleeping, but the Nightmarens Returned and Reala is back as well along with Wizeman and a new female first level nightmaren who is also a jester like NiGHTS and Reala but more evil and manipulative. Also Will and Helen from Journey of Dreams can make an appeareance as well but they're adults too. Will is now a soccer expert and Helen is now a member of the Bellbridge Philarmonic Orchestra which comes to the town of Twin Seeds every year to perform. The children of Claris and Elliot explore new Nightopias with NiGHTS as well as fighting against new Nightmarens that Wizeman himself has created.
I was 19 when this came out. I bought the Saturn to get this new technology called, the internet. So many late nights in that thing. Wow. Where did the years go!?
12:53 I know that Sonic Team made this game, but did they really need to remind us that its members worked on Sonic games 😅 (Side note: NiGHTS Into Dreams is actually Sonic Team's second game)
I remember playing the demo 6 years ago on XBLA and was utterly confused as to what to do. So I looked up some gameplay online. That's when I figured out that it was all about getting the most points during bonus time. Once you figure it out it becomes a really fun experiance with high replay value.
I have played this so many times in my youth. I tried getting a rating every stage. I much prefer this over other ports. Pixaled graphics brings out more contrast from far away and yet may look a bit realism at the same time. I'm in the urge of playing this again since the clown world we living in now has gotten worse. Thanks for the upload.
I don’t understand the premise of this game… the girl and the boy have dreams they want to be and adversity becomes nightmares and so they become Nights and achieve their dreams before they wake up so they have good dreams?
Wow....I bought Nights into Dreams when it first released. My copy came with the Saturn 3D controller and for a time I thought it was one of the coolest games I ever played..i also had a Playstation at the time and as many games that released on it, amazing, incredible games nothing was quite like Nights. I have never beaten it even I still have my boxed Nights into Dreams 3D controller pack. I never got Christmas Nights. Are you playing with the 3D controller? I ask because you are very, very good...probably the best I have ever seen at this game. Good show.
Well, Sega has released their classic games on the Switch by the Sega Ages line as well as bringing Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Steam and Panzer Dragoon got a Remaster and now Streets of Rage is coming back for a new entry. I hope Sega can make a NiGHTS Double Pack which includes NiGHTS into Dreams (the PS2 remake of the game by Sega of China with better graphics) as well as NiGHTS Journey of Dreams re-released in HD for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. Now months ago, Sega filed a trademark for NiGHTS Dream Wheel. I don't what it is but Sega really needs to bring back NiGHTS. Its time to give Sonic a rest so Sonic Team can take notes from the mistakes they did with Sonic Forces and I hope the next Sonic Game might be better than what Forces turned out to be.

NiGHTS Deserves Better!
One of the few Saturn games Sega of America put any effort into promoting.
And rightfully so!
Simply put, one of the greatest video games of all time!
32 bit era had the best video game compositions.

If you listen closely at the load screen (5:05) you can tell its a scene from the movie Home Alone. I believe its when they reached the plane on time.

I love how the menu music at 5:14 samples Kevin McCallister from Home Alone calling out to his family after they left him behind.

12:06 This is my favorite boss in the game
I just got nights into dreams & nights Christmas
20:49 How did you beat that boss so easily?
You have to create a loop that his body passes through without getting hit. Afaik it's the only way to end that fight with a 2x multiplier.
i just kept hitting under his chin a few times flying under him
This is so awesome and cool 😎
There's nothing like it.
I can't hear the A-Rank's ending in the game's redbook audio :/
I'm lazy to beat the game at A-Rank
I want to see this on Nintendo Switch
