@@fraudcakes In my opinion, neither game plays much like NiGHTS at all. Having said that, NiGHTS is a decidedly better game than both Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and Yoshi's Story combined (wasn't overly impressed with those two).

There are things you can do in the original game that just aren't possible in remake, so you can get even higher scores. The drill dash is faster, so it's better to hold it down longer (you'll also be able to complete a paraloop around the giant tree in Spring Valley). Plus the paraloops z-axis extends further into the background, so you'll be able to get items in the background that are unattainable in the remake.
When I saw NiGHTS for the first time in Sonic Adventure... I thought they were female. Can you blame me though? NiGHTS has very pretty eyes, so it made me think female
Yeah, I saw you achieve that later on in Elliot's levels! Very cool! Also just watched your Burning Rangers playthrough, it brought back some great memories!

I need to take some notes and update my routes! Watching this is giving me all sorts of ideas to try out. I always go backwards in the first mare in Spring Valley to get a continuous link, the weird things like that are why I love the scoring system in NiGHTS.
The link timers are shorter in the remake, so getting a continuous link like in the original on that mare is probably impossible. At least I've never been able to do it anyway.

The remake is pretty accessible. It's available on PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. And if you want to play the original, the Japanese Saturn version is still one of the cheapest games you can get your hands on.
It's not very accessible for me. I'm a Nintendo boy, so the console versions are out of the question. And I don't have a pc of my own. I beg my dad to let me get it on his pc, but he always says no. One of these days, though, maybe my luck will change.😄
And to be honest, I like Journey of dreams more than into dreams. Before you hurl your pitchforks at me, I like JoD more because it has a story longer than a few minutes. And plus it's a game I grew up with.
JoD's story lacks subtlety, and the scoring system has been significantly pared down. It is a very pretty game though, and the core flight mechanics are still wonderful if you can use a controller without Nintendo's restrictive octagonal gate. I hope you can convince your father to let you play it. It goes on sale for $2.99 quite often on Steam.

+Paulo Perin The way I play the remake isn't quite how I play the Saturn version. In the original game, I prefer to drill dash for longer periods of time and even steer NiGHTS in his dash state. In the remake, NiGHTS' drill dash isn't quite as fast as it should be, but for some reason, you get a bit of a speed boost when you drop out of your drill dash. ...If Sonic Team done something with Sonic Boom the video game... :( good video man it brings Alot and i mean ALOT of memories... I remember i ranted this from Blockbuster for my Sega Saturn. :(
If Sonic Team had made Sonic Boom, it'd probably still suck. Just remember that these guys were later putting out stuff like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006 (sorry if you liked those. I wasn't a fan).
I have a CIB copy of the original game for Saturn. I'll be buying this remake for PC or PS3. Would be cool if this came out fir Switch and other modern gaming consoles.
Did you know that each level has a remixed version of the main theme song? I found this out by just exiting your costume so I could freeroam the map and walk to some remote area to listen to the background music. I dont know what it is exactly that triggers it because it doesnt happen immediately or every time, but if you drift off into some random area of the map and do nothing for awhile sometimes you will hear the music shift. I really like the additional tracks. In fact you can actually hear a sample in this video: ruclips.net/video/aiUEJRf3-8w/видео.htmlm51s If you are familiar with the main theme and listen closely you can tell this music is a bit different. Notice how the hero was out of costume and just walking around the ground. Thats how I usually encountered the remixes too.
The music actually changes between levels and reflects the mood of your Nightopians. You can improve their mood by killing Nightmarens and hatching eggs. You can worsen their mood by scaring them (buzzing them w/ a drill dash) or outright killing them via paraloop. It's part of an artificial intelligence system dubbed "A-Life." A-Life also has a breeding system, in which you can combine various Nightmaren and Nightopians to form hybrids called Mepians. After you get enough Mepians, the ultimate goal is to have them backbreed to a creature with 100% Nightopian traits. That Nightopian is a King Pian, who will then construct a castle on the stage you hatch him on.
I A-Ranked the whole game on Saturn shortly after acquiring it, but I can't say that I've ever had an awesome grasp of a few things, such as how to consistently maintain link chains or always achieve Dreamy with stunt ribbons. I always wished that after completing the game, you could explore the dreams on foot without the Alarm Egg hounding you, but I would have also liked a smoother camera system when playing as Elliot and Claris and more refined animations/move sets for them interfacing with the terrain. When I first got my opportunity to see NiGHTS in action and in person, all of the naysaying of people at school or in stores or magazines about the Saturn's capabilities went out the window for me. Also, while Super Mario 64 has its own very real strengths (and I went out of my way to purchase an N64 and that game with a friend of mine) and more content, NiGHTS: into dreams on the Saturn really earned my respect with how many polygons each part of the terrain consisted of (each hill, mountain, etcetera). It really made me proud and confident of my decistion to be a Saturn owner.
Nate Lawrence Keeping your link chain together is pretty simple. Just gotta practice and memorize the course plus recognize that the paraloop is useful because it allows you to drag items behind you for a short time. :)
Saturn Memories I definitely appreciate the paraloop's gravity well attributes. =) Would you say that there are some portions of certain mares where even the best player will face too large a gap between items to maintain a link or no?
Nate Lawrence Yes, there are plenty of places where it's impossible to carry an infinite link. In the original game, you used to be able to mitigate a few of these by doing the Mare in reverse, but the physics aren't quite accurate enough in the port to allow this in most cases. The main problem is that NiGHTS' drill dash isn't as fast as it was in the original game. You can compensate for this somewhat because you get a slight speed boost after dropping out of the dash, so intermittent dashing becomes more important than just holding dash like in the original game. There's also an issue with paraloop z-axis (depth) being too short. It makes it harder to draw certain background objects into your paraloop that were once reachable in the original.
Sega tried so hard to make the Saturn successful. Too bad gamers and programmers chose quantity over quality. Also, this remake should've been done on the Dreamcast. Also, very masterful flying my friend!!!!
fun fact: the chao from sonic adventure and sonic adventure 2 are actually based off of/inspired by the nightopians of this game. you can affect their mood with what you do to them in the dreams. you can even breed nightopians. it’s rather complex
This is 100% true, and definitely something to keep in mind if you're trying to breed a King Pian. But when playing for score, I don't give much consideration to Nightopians. If they get in my way, they're either going to get spooked or paralooped into oblivion. :P
The title is kinda misleading. The game itself is still running at 30fps, but it is being recorded at 60. Changing the title might affect search rankings, so I haven't bothered to do that. If I had to guess, forcing the game to run at 60 wouldn't cause lag. Instead, it would probably run at double speed, which isn't good either.
I know people are entitled to have their own opinions, but this is one of those games that, if people think it's bad or stupid, they have no reasonable understanding about what art is and can be.
So my only nitpick for this port is: I see in the credits that a huge team of Chinese people worked on it, but although there's tribute, I wish they found a way to credit the original team somewhere. Result is that whoever didn't know who worked on this music still won't know. So I'll tell you: Naofumi Hataya (Sonic CD, others), Tomoko Sasaki (Ristar), Fumie Kumatani (Sonic Adventure 2, others).
Keep in mind that this "HD remake" of NiGHTS into dream first started out as a japanese only release for the playstation 2 dating back to February of 2008. It wasn't until 2012 that international players would finally get this game, but was obviously given to us a digital download for PS3 and Xbox 360. Given the release date for the PS2 release development must have begun around 2007 which was handed down to a chinese development studio likely because Sonic Team was still making NiGHTS journey of dreams for the Wii.
When you compare the Wii title to the Saturn title, it's no contest. The Nights Journey into Dreams is so slow and bland compared to Nights Into Dreams. I didn't even mind that they added voice acting. But, it's as if they missed the point of why people liked the first game so much. EDIT: I've gotta say... it's really too bad that Balan Wonderworld didn't turn out nearly as well as I'd expected. One would expect the makers of Sonic the Hedgehog, NiGHTS, and Burning Rangers would make something better than a nondescript 3D platformer (with nice graphics, to be fair). Just a side comment.
well, yeah! The first NiGHTS game was perfect and great, except for 2nd NiGHTS game, but it has beutiful soundtracks, endings and it was fun as usual:)
@@raymundroivelasquez4404 Yeah, I wasn't being entirely fair to the 2nd one when I wrote that. The 2nd NiGHTS game is pretty good, but the 1st is still tops. :D
@@TheDr502 of course the first game was better than the sequal, while the the second game has more beautiful soundtracks, color palettes and designs are impressive and the voice actings are calm, but they said that the game controllers are quite diffricult.I know NiGHTS 1 is better, but I love both of them.
I'm not quite sure what's going on in the soft museum. Are you actually just bouncing off the bottom and tricking a couple times or is there more to it than that? Incredible playthrough, by the way
I'm just rotating the analog stick in a circular motion to do flips. Basically you want to touch the floor of the museum and try to do four or five flips before landing and repeating the process. The first flip is worth 10 points, the next 20, the third 30, etc. It can build up to the point where each flip is worth 1,000+ points, which is very significant for a single repeatable action. If at any time you fail to land on your feet though, you lose the cumulative effect of the scoring, so your next flip will only be worth 10 points. You have access to the museum on Mare 2 and Mare 4, so blow up the Ideya Captures fast and use as much time as you can to do flips. :)
I got this game Yesterday on steam and imma be honest, I never played a NIGHTS game before. I’m playing this game right now and it’s literally confusing but challenging at the same time, the buttons are literally the controller. I keep getting stuck in spring valley boss fight, it’s stupid. Btw Do the ranks you get and links matter and the high score? Cause I’m kinda new. I have watched a few NIGHTS Walthroughs Like Journey Of dreams and the game itself in my opinion looks great.
I think you need at least C-ranks to unlock Twin Seeds, and I think you might need A-ranks to get the true ending. I'm not totally sure though because it's been a long time since I've gotten anything other than A's. As for the Spring Valley boss, Gillwing, you don't necessarily have to paraloop him to win (that's just the fastest way to do it). If you're having trouble, latch onto his chin and hit the drill dash button. You have to do this several times, but it's much easier.
Bought a Saturn from a friend for $10 about 20 years ago. Came with a demo of this game. Always very confused when I played it. Trying Xbox 360 version. I still have no idea what to do.

NIIIICE. Any bugs in it? I got it for PS3 and was thinking of getting it on Steam but heard it wasn't such a great port
RockyV I own the 360 version as well. They're identical, so if you're okay with how the PS3 version plays, you'll be fine with the Steam version too.
Saturn Memories Awesome! Thank you for that!
...If Sonic Team done something with Sonic Boom the video game... :( good video man it brings Alot and i mean ALOT of memories... I remember i ranted this from Blockbuster for my Sega Saturn. :(
yea

Sonic? Estas bien?
If Sonic Team had made Sonic Boom, it'd probably still suck. Just remember that these guys were later putting out stuff like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006 (sorry if you liked those. I wasn't a fan).
Amazing run :) GG's
I don''t even know what is happening but you are good
Heh, when you figure everything out, it all flows like water. :)
I really love this game.

You spin me right round baby right round
GREAT!!!!!!nice play!!!
In fact you can actually hear a sample in this video: ruclips.net/video/aiUEJRf3-8w/видео.htmlm51s
If you are familiar with the main theme and listen closely you can tell this music is a bit different.
That Nightopian is a King Pian, who will then construct a castle on the stage you hatch him on.
wow thx for the info, i had no idea, thats crazy!
Holy crap. Those are some skills.
+imbecilik It's the only game that I can truly say I'm exceedingly good at. There are only a handful of people out there who are better. :)
Saturn Memories
I definitely appreciate the paraloop's gravity well attributes. =)
Would you say that there are some portions of certain mares where even the best player will face too large a gap between items to maintain a link or no?
Macaulay Culkin doesn't watch his own movie.
Hard to believe because someone out there really loves him.

Yeeey!!
2:59 is fukin nostalgic, love you Saturn memories
2:05 - 2:23 Now THAT, is honestly creepy.
all that dashing near the nightopians scares them!! D:
fun fact: the chao from sonic adventure and sonic adventure 2 are actually based off of/inspired by the nightopians of this game. you can affect their mood with what you do to them in the dreams. you can even breed nightopians. it’s rather complex
This is 100% true, and definitely something to keep in mind if you're trying to breed a King Pian. But when playing for score, I don't give much consideration to Nightopians. If they get in my way, they're either going to get spooked or paralooped into oblivion. :P
First, man, how can you play this without lag and in 60fps?
Second, woAH, A 255 LINK IN SOFT MUSEUM? You're really good at this game!
Hola
What a difference, you can actually see what's going on now 😂
what's name of ending song ?
Dreams, Dreams
I still have my copy and my Saturn sitting in a rubbermaid tub. :p
Complete In 100%!
I know people are entitled to have their own opinions, but this is one of those games that, if people think it's bad or stupid, they have no reasonable understanding about what art is and can be.
have you played anything else since 1996, jesus youre good.
Since 1996? Friend, it's *still* 1996 here. ;)
*jolinasucks> I MISS THIS GAME SO MUCH*
Wow i Never Seen nights before this looks like i found the right video!!
Hola
Annyeong
So my only nitpick for this port is: I see in the credits that a huge team of Chinese people worked on it, but although there's tribute, I wish they found a way to credit the original team somewhere. Result is that whoever didn't know who worked on this music still won't know. So I'll tell you: Naofumi Hataya (Sonic CD, others), Tomoko Sasaki (Ristar), Fumie Kumatani (Sonic Adventure 2, others).
You get the original credit roll if you play through the Saturn mode.
I really felt bored by being quarantined in my house and I always listened to my favorite musics and songs that I like, though.
This popped into my recommended and I have no idea what’s going on besides like two video essays I watched but this is fucking amazing
Saturn Memories thank you! I can't wait to get back to my computer and practice
Saturn Memories thank you! I can't wait to get back to my computer and practice
No prob! It's always nice to hear from people who are curious about the deeper scoring mechanics in the game.
saturn memories what kind of controler are you using?
A Saturn 3D controller using a Raphnet USB adapter.

ive only played this game once as a child. i never understood how to play it... i hope they put this on the switch...
NiGHTScharlie did played this? xD he's awesome.
No, I played it. Though I did learn a lot from watching Charlie's videos over a decade ago.
You're awesome then. I been watching your clockwork knight gameplays and you're very good on them too.
Thanks! :)
Holy crap.
Saturn Memories I did get a C and B rank in spring valley even thought it took me 2 days it felt like it was forever
aweasome
Bought a Saturn from a friend for $10 about 20 years ago. Came with a demo of this game. Always very confused when I played it. Trying Xbox 360 version. I still have no idea what to do.

im playing the saturn version and it feels like every turn is a blind corner :/
