So much information in this video!!. I love guitars and have 6 currently. I want to start building from kits as a hobby and this really taught me a lot. There’s very few videos that actually go through the entire build process so thank you for these. Will continue watching 🤘🏾
A great job with the shielding tape ! It's ALWAYS a good idea to do this. As one who is looking for a kit to do my own build, this video gives me a great deal of encouragement.
I picked up the neon yellow version for $50 at musicgoround in aroura,co. One mightymite neck and old peavey predator loaded pickguard. It sounds like a strat! Lol. Nice video man!
Don’t be afraid, I had a little issue and put together 14 parts guitars last year, 4 of which were Guitar Fetish XG. The strat bodies are slightly boxier than fender but still great. I got one where. The neck holes where incorrect but they took care of it no problem.
What drill bit sizes did you use for the bridge installation? I've been using 3mm for Strat bridge screws, but I find I need a lot of torque to set the screws deep.
Looks good. I plan on using all gold hardware and that same Tortoise pickguard on the neon green XGP body with the Floyd Rose rout. (if they ever get the bodies back in stock)
How was the fretwork on the XGP neck? Any leveling needed? I'm in the middle of an XGP body + Warmoth neck build, was wondering if I could get away with the cheaper XGP neck next time round.
No leveling needed at all... some slight truss rod adjustment was all that was needed. I have all three of their necks (both tele and strat style) ... Pao Ferro, Maple and rosewood. All of their necks have worked out perfect for my partscaster builds. The XGP necks fit the bodies very well. I've built an XGP Tele, ST and JM. All my builds are superb, no issues at all. This particular neck is probably my favorite (the pao ferro).
@@ChadwickRider very cool man! Thanks for the info. Hard to get good reviews on XGP stuff, it's pretty hyperbolic one way or the other, or outdated. The body I got had one flaw which was the neck bolt holes were drilled slightly crooked, so I had to fill the holes in the neck and redrill.
Hello! I really liked the way you did the measuring for the bridge, is this a sure fire way of doing it? It makes the most sense to me to have the visual there on the tape. Just want to be double sure before I start drilling in my guitar body lol. I also wanted to ask about the decal, did you have to add finish after laying it down? Thank you!
Hi Bryan, this is my sure fire way of aligning a bridge... it's how I do all my Strat style guitars. If you do happen to mess up just let me know... it's fixable. For the decal you can bury it under layers of clearcoat and then wet sand it down until it's level, then polish. I was going for a more vintage appearance so I just place the decals and don't bury them under clearcoat.
@@bryanhaggerty3634 I haven't installed a two-point trem so I can't say for certain, but I'd imagine it would be the same (just a different amount of holes/screws)
It does kind of look like that way but it's because of the cheap tailors tape I'm using... this was just to give me a general idea. You'll get a better idea measuring from the 12 fret with a rule. It scales correct and intonates perfect, plays beautifully as well. I need to record a better demo video in Ableton when I find some time. I'm working on a Stewmac LP kit now and it's going to require a full setup (fret leveling, crowning, etc...) I'll get more detailed with this Stewmac build.
Hi James... search Amazon for "Dopro Guitar Roller String Tree (Set of 2)". Here is a link to the exact ones I installed: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FRZQN1J/?th=1
Yes, I did use an official Fender bridge. The “XGP” models are U.S. specs … make sure you get “XGP” specifically because the other brands are import specs.
I'm not affiliated with Guitar Fetish in any way. I recorded this to show others how I would build one of their Strat style models. I've tried adding a baritone neck, you might run into issues with your scale length and the placement of the bridge. I'm not sure you would be able to get your saddles back far enough to properly intonate the guitar. As far as hardware, yes Guitar Fetish sales hardware for their guitars.
Hi Michael, I actually left it out because the adjustment needed was so minor that I couldn't really capture the difference on video... it kept glaring off the fretboard so it was hard to film the small gap under my notch tool. I figured there's a lot of other videos showing how it's done. This particular guitar needed some slight relief and it was good to go. However, I have a Stewmac Les Paul kit on the way... and this will be a very involved build. It's definitely going to require some neck setup, fret leveling and dressing, etc... I use Stewmac fret files (safe edge file)... this will probably be a longer series with more detail. I have a guitar here that could use a truss adjustment, if you think it would be helpful let me know and I'll record a RUclips short outlining how to do it. Be sure to subscribe for the Les Paul build.
@@ChadwickRider It could be helpful to some. I am quite familiar with it. Just had to loosen my main strats truss rod yesterday due to all the humidity we have here in Ohio lately. Very good video you made . I have made a dozen or so partscasters and your video was on point. Thanks.
Not sure why you would ever want to block a properly set up Fender Vintage Strat 6 screw bridge. Once set up properly they should float nicely with a half step pull up.
I don't disagree with you, which is why I set it up so it can be floated later if I chose. But I can explain why... currently I'm working on a project where I do a lot of alternate tuning and Drop D tuning, and I'd like to use this guitar for that project. Have you ever tried playing Drop D tuning with a floating tremolo? 😃
That's funny, I always laugh when people say it doesn't do anything. It most certainly does, it's a scientific fact. It helps block EMP waves from natural phenomena, especially in upper frequencies.
Thank you for documenting your build. Lots of great tips and your partscaster turned out beautiful.

Nice, meticulous work. People can learn a lot from watching you take time to be precise.
Thank you very much.
Well done! Looks good, and sounds great! You've taught me a few things when it comes to maintaining my Strat style guitars, so thank you for that!
Appreciate the kind words! ... and you're very welcome, it's great to hear this has been helpful.
Awsome build,beautiful build 👌

I was not a fan of that body color until you matched it with that pickguard. Now I think it looks amazing.
Thank you 😃
Love the config here. Awesome video.
Great progress, I’ve been curious about their bodies for awhile. Seem to look like good quality for the price.
Thank you Todd. I've found the XGP aren't too bad, especially for the price.

lmfao chadcaster! Sick build! relaxing video, nice music, subbeddd.
😆 Hahaha 😁 Thank you
very nice job...the best ive seen...youre on my front page...im new too so...lol
Thank you JayBird!

I'm trying to remember... it was either 7/64 or 1/8 ... start with 7/64 since it's smaller.

My pleasure... feel free to subscribe. I have a couple more builds I'll be posting soon, I've just been lazy about editing 😁
nice color man

Seems like where the strings make contact with the saddle was behind the line drawn. Making the overall scale length about a cm longer?

On the set up part, you seem to have skipped over the truss rod adjustment, unless i missed it.

if that hat from American hat makers?
Goorin Bros, wool felt. Comparable to a Stetson Open Road, but Stetson uses beaver felt instead of wool.

I found it better to get a fender body cheap of ebay.
I have to laugh every time I’d see a guitar lined with copper…it doesn’t do anything,a complete waste of time.
You’ve got to let scientists know that faraday cages are false ASAP, they’ve been really screwing up MRI machines if this is true 😮
