    If you don't mind my asking, whats the purpose of the small block of wood sitting under the bridge in the back of the guitar? Wouldn't that potentially cause your whammy to remain static when trying to use it?

    • @ChadwickRider
      @ChadwickRider 2 месяца назад

      I don't mind you asking at all. For this particular guitar I wanted a hardtail, so for the time-being I won't be using a whammy. The reason: I do a lot of drop tuning with this guitar and the tremolo presents challenges in those drop tuning situations. However, the most important part: I use the blocks to create a hardtail without permanently ruining the guitar in the event I decide I want to reconfigure the guitar and start using a tremolo (whammy). Hope this helps.

    • @chrisj5074
      @chrisj5074 2 месяца назад

      @ChadwickRider that really clarified things for me and honestly helps me in regards to a future guitar build I'm planning. I'm assuming that means if you decide you want to switch back to the trem instead of the hard tail then it's only to make some minor adjustments? That's actually very clever 👌🏻

    To what other brand/line of guitars would you compare the quality of the XGP body and neck?

    • @ChadwickRider
      @ChadwickRider 4 месяца назад

      Probably Squier, but the nice part about XGP is you get U.S. specs (meaning body width, routes, etc...). It's not really comparable to a Warmoth, but XGP are not that bad at all. This body is Poplar, which is commonly used in guitar bodies by all kinds of brands. It has a poly finish. The finish could be a little better, but for the price they're a good deal. The neck is amazing, I honestly couldn't be more happy with the neck... it's a true roasted maple with a nice thick rosewood fretboard.

    This video series is a bit longer than usual, at times maybe a bit redundant 🤷‍♂. But I'm really hoping to show that if you work it to a certain level of detail, however tedious, it can be an awesome guitar. This one turned out awesome, one of my main players. I've added chapters to all of the videos incase anyone wants to skip around or hit certain reference points. The first two parts of this particular series are touching up the products we'll be using (neck and body)... the series speeds up on part 3 where we start electronics and installation. When the series is completed you'll see why we took the time, stick with me. Enjoy!

    Subscribe for more! Fabric Top Guitar Build: Jean-Michel Basquiat Tribute Partscaster. I'll upload the full build video, from start to finish when it's completed. This is a Guitar Fetish "blem" that I picked up for $75 and we're going to turn it into a rad Partscaster. I've never seen anything like this before: 21 frets, set neck (on a strat). Rock solid maple neck. Rosewood fretboard. Medium jumbo frets. We'll put some alnico 5 humbuckers in it, some good pots and electronics. We'll level the frets and do a full fret job and complete setup. I will be installing a floating bridge on this build, instead of blocking it as a hardtail. It will be a unique one-of-a-kind guitar that not only looks rad, but plays rad. A homage to not only Jean-Michel Basquiat, but also a homage to the 1980s. This should be a LOT of fun!!!

      I'm not affiliated with Guitar Fetish in any way. I recorded this to show others how I would build one of their Strat style models. I've tried adding a baritone neck, you might run into issues with your scale length and the placement of the bridge. I'm not sure you would be able to get your saddles back far enough to properly intonate the guitar. As far as hardware, yes Guitar Fetish sales hardware for their guitars.

      @IScreamedWolf 9 месяцев назад

      I’ve been told you don’t want to over-tighten it

    • @ChadwickRider
      @ChadwickRider 9 месяцев назад

      Screamed Wolf is correct, you don't want it to be too tight, at the same time you don't want it to be too loose either. You want the 'heel' of the neck as flush as possible against the backside of the neck pocket (because of the scale length). It doesn't have to be perfect, but as close as possible is the most aesthetic. Example, let's say you wanted to put a Strat neck on a Tele body. The Strat has a rounded heel, while the Tele has a square heel... but, you can still use a Strat neck on a Tele body because the scale length will still be correct... the obstacles would be the appearance of a rounded heel against a square neck pocket. However, if you get a 22 fret neck you can hide the imperfections with the fretboard overhang combined with the pickguard. I just recorded a video that I'll eventually upload over the next couple months... where I'm putting a roasted maple neck on a body, and the neck is just a little to wide. I demonstrate how to work the neck heel and neck pocket to make a clean fit. Subscribe so you don't miss it.
