    Immy, didn't know weak glutes and thighs could lead to knee injury. My knee has been hurting for few months and after one of your videos relating the two things I finally went to see my doctor, who confirmed my muscles around the knee are too weak! I become obsessive with macros and calories and it's not a good scene. I really appreciate your video because you aren't so obsessive about it as some people seem to be int eh vegan community. it is worth looking into omega-3 and iodine supplements also! especially if you don't consume sea vegetables or iodised salt daily to get your iodine. we also cannot get enough EPA and DHA (forms of omega-3s) from a plant based diet, only ALA from things like chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds and a few other sources. but the conversion rate of EPA and DHA from ALA is super super low so that is why we need to supplement with algae supplements.

    I've been taking the Veg 1 multi vitamins made by the Vegan Society for a while, they're super affordable. I don't take them absolutely every day, as I get most stuff from my diet, but it's good to have a backup for important things like B12. They're in plastic tubs, but they're sturdy enough to be reusable for holding things like spices. I sometimes wonder if I ought to take Omega 3 too, but not sure if it's necessary.

    Nice video. Thank you. I'm not a frequent commenter on your videos, but I watch and like them often. I'm commenting now because I have a question: what are your (research based?) ideas about how much people should exercise? To me doing strength training 4 to 5 times a week and walking 25.000 steps a day seems like a lot. I've never researched it, so I have no idea. I want to know if you do work out more, because you like it/have specific goals or if you've found out that we should actually work out that much (tbh, not looking forward to that answer :P).

      Hello! If you Google "world health organization physical activity recommendation" you'll find the current minimum of movement you should get in weekly to stay healthy. Doing more is just a matter of adaptation and regeneration. Someone who never was physically active and starts lifting heavy 5 days a week will probably get backlash from that.

The books that helped me a great deal are “Vegan for Life” by Jack Norris and Virginia Messina. And “Vegan for her” by Virginia Messina. They both are all about nutrition and the information is very extensive and clear. (But maybe you already read these). Anyway, I still often look things up in them. I think it are great books for both people who just became vegan and people who have been vegan for quite a while now. All the best with your channel!! Hope you keep making videos for a long time!!

    Hi Immy
    I was wondering if you bought the Herbaland supplements in the uk or had to order them from..I think it’s Canada. They sound great but my head is battling with the environmental impact of flying them over. No judgement on you if you fly them over..I just thought I’d ask in case my googling to see if there’s a uk supplier wasn’t very good. Thank yoy. Loving all your videos x

    Do you take any probiotics or anything for a healthy gut?

    • @SustainablyVegan
      @SustainablyVegan  4 года назад +5

      I have been reading up on probiotics and am still trying to learn about the science and what studies have suggested is the best option, so for me jury is still out but mainly because i've been a little lazy. I have incorporated lots of fermented foods however in the mean time so that hopefully I don't have to supplement, as I don't want to supplement unless it's absolutely necessary! Hope this helps xx

      Sustainably Vegan i wish I liked fermented foods better beyond yogurt. For me probiotics are the thing. Although I am going to try tempeh to see if I like that.

    What are some of the things you find cheapest in 0 waste shops? I live in woolwich so my closest is Lee or Peckham, but me and my boyfriend both work minimum wage and struggle to get by at best of times. Would like to make a trip to a shop but need to know there are some affordable options in shops. At the moment we mostly shop on the market and try and just shop consciously in the supermarket but would like to do more! Thanks

    • @SustainablyVegan
      @SustainablyVegan  4 года назад +2

      Things like oats, pasta, chickpeas and rice always tend to be pretty affordable ! But it's important you shop where you feel comfortable ! You can still make sustainable choices at more conventional shops that can be more affordable!

      Marryann C id love to know more about the difference between dieticians and nutritionists. I know one is ‘officially medical’ and the other is more allied health professional and some of the conditions and recommendations that GojiMan makes seem to have less scientific consensus or info (SIBO, oxalation from spinach as a problem for instance). But I don’t know whether that necessary totally discredits them. Help?

    Emmy I know a lot of people like to base their nutrition off of the science and the recommendations from the government or health agencies or something like that...its ok. But doesn't work for everyone. And many of the recommendations are based on decades old science. And nutrition science is not the same as other science. Its mostly epidemiological research. And not very reliable. That's all I'm saying.

    • @SustainablyVegan

      Oh I completely agree - I just had nowhere else to start and I wanted to start from ANY basis in research. I'm also going to get blood tests done as well to find out any actual deficiencies in me personally and have to move on. Completely agree that not everything works for everyone and also government recs can be biased (especially in the US) Just going to tread carefully!
