i switched to keyboard from mouse at the beginning of the year, mainly because i hated playing when my hands were cold and i was in the process of getting good at celeste, so keyboard began to feel very natural to me. as time went on, i managed to beat some stuff i never would’ve guessed i could beat (yeah, they’re still low end extremes, but i’m still trying to get better) and i can definitely say the switch was worth it.
Maybe I just have a comfortable mouse but I'm a fellow joe shmoe excel grip guy and I find it very comfortable. The only issue I find is that my finger gets sore if I play for like 3 hours when I haven't played for a few days. My cps is alright, it takes a lot of practice for each new high cps part but once I get it down I can do it just as consistently as everything else, mind you I'm not nearly as good at the game. But wrist clicks I can't even do a hard demon with, if I try use my wrist I'm god awful. So it's interesting to hear the perspective from another excel grip guy
Very well spoken, i think a lot of people arent aware of the “wrist clicking method” and actually the reason im one of the highest comfortable cps mouse players in the game is because ive managed to adapt wrist clicking into mouse gameplay. i am getting a new keyboard soon so i might give it a try instead of mouse. good video!
I wanted to switch to keyboard a month ago but it felt like a huge disadvantage. I learned how to do up to 9 cps spam on mouse and I have really good ship control with it, when I switched my cps was the exact same and now I couldn't straight fly
Zeronium is the type of guy to say "Onenium and Twonium in the top of the description" and then not put Onenium and Twonium at the top of the description
With the getting used to ship and wave it is so much easier to switch to a keyboard like the razer huntsman because of how high the actuation point is on the key. With other keyboards with lower actuation points you get more input delay because the key has to travel further which makes it much harder to get used to ship and wave.
As a person who always played on keyboard, spacebar specifically, I never understood why people played on mouse. It is way more comfortable for me, just felt better. I am not hating mouse players, but people were always suprised way back few years ago about why would I play on keyboard. This changed sooo drastically, that now when I tell someone who doesn't know about my playstyle, they are thinking "why are you copying top players etc." Pretty funny situation. Have a great day.
And its something that I've gotten used to so switching to arrow key wouldn't be so useful for me. Also I am not telling anyone to change their playstyle, do what you prefer and there's nothing bad about following someones playstyle if it's better for that person.
Another thing that could also be better is that switches are replaceable and can endure a lot more than a mouse button. My partner used wrist clicking, and her mice lasted but months at a time, while her keyboard lasted years.
Even though i use keyboard and mouse connected to my phone i highly agree to your opinion, im still trying to improve on keyboard. Thanks for your info
i switched after i beat crowd control with up arrow then i got a wooting and i INSTANTLY became more consistent because on mouse i would have to do like 20 minutes of warmup but on keyboard it takes like 2 seconds to warm up (its a me and you thing!)
I’ve recently switched to keyboard while doing Leyak, and it’s been so much better for me, I’ve gotten 28% on it so far (its my first insane demon) and I'm able to do it in 4 runs now
I haven't switched devices before since I play on mobile, but migrating from playing with my thumb and playing with my pointer finger has made a huge difference in my playing capability.
I like playing with keyboard occasionally cuz i find the way you click the button to be more fun, but straight flying does feel impossible sometimes. Not sure if its worth switching for a while cuz nothing i want to beat is super cps intensive or beyond top 50 but it has been a thought. My hardest on up arrow is a low end insane demon
I already wrist clicked with my mouse but had alot of wrist pain when i played the game for longer than 5 mins. I dont think keyboards any better for me but its way better on my wrist, so thats why i switched lol.
good question I actually switched to the keyboard because I couldn't click fast enough on the mouse without jitter clicking (in which I get around 13 cps, which is still not that good ig) also, the keyboard just feels better to me. ALSO YES 3:40 IS WHY I SWITCHED TOO it was so uncomfortable 4:28 is also another one. I bet they all are, to be honest also one last thing: what part of the keyboard do you play with (ex. track-pad, spacebar, up arrow)?
Mouse gives you very high precision and lower input times but i switches to keyboard because i can slam on it with less problem and over all, i can click much faster and its very important on any mode or vehicle, so it feels more comfortable
I do wrist clicks on mouse while holding the mouse with my left hand, so when I'm wrist clicking I can click 10 cps, and I can also butterfly easily on parts like cold sweat, compared to if I was using keyboard.
I used to be strongly against keyboard because every time I tried it was just awful but I’ve come to realize that the keyboard you have genuinely matters. I had some shit like $30 keyboards and they sucked and then I had a k70 low profile which also sucked I recently bought the K70 TKL and I can confidently say it made a world of difference for me. My main problem was my mouse hurting the side of my hand and I’m so thankful I switched
Although I’m late to the party I have major issues with mouse I’m a very new/bad player with my hardest being a medium demon but although I’m not skilled I still feel the disadvantages of the mouse, mainly due to my mouse being light and every micromove makes my finger placement feel off.
Honestly even if your not that great I would still highly recommend switching to keyboard just for the fact it's so much more comfortable. I used to not even play for 30 minutes before my whole hand would just be in pain and sore. Now I can literally play for 3 hours and feel next to nothing. Also if you are a decent player the advantages Mr. roni said are very true.
i've always used spacebar because I preferred the latency it had over the mouse, and playing the game during a time where mouse was considered better always made me feel like I needed a specific mouse to be good at gd, especially as a little kid. but now that everyone is switching to keyboard, it just shows me that you can be a great player on whatever you prefer playing on, and I think that's really nice.
i remember switching to keyboard as a complete joke. i was playing a level (don't remember what, probably some random harder lol) and it kinda sucked so i was like "you know what this level doesn't even deserve to be beaten with my mouse i'm using my upper arrow key" and at the time it still kinda felt weird to me but i just kept using it to see, and even when it still felt weird i remember trying my mouse again and it just felt even worse so i stuck with upper arrow key. i just recently switched to my ctrl key and it feels nicer (i can't really spam as well on it for some reason though, maybe cause the key is bigger lol) and i'm going to get a sayodevice soon so that'll be fun
Another thing with keyboards that's incredibly popular in the osu community is rapid trigger, surprised people aren't switching to up arrow because it ngl
the "debounce time" on gaming laptop keyboards is absolutely horrendous, and even though i much prefer the feeling of playing keyboard, i literally can't play wave or ship so yea i personally have to stick to mouse

And i just think I prefer the keyboard over mouse in general cause clicking with a mouse cause my carpel tunnel issues LOL

i play on up arrow, also theres a megahack extension that makes every keyboard key jump, its just called "every key jumps" so if you can find it use it
i switched to keyboard bc i press my mouse to hard and it moves also i dont have to adjust my grip like on mouse similar to how u stated. unfortunately my cps isnt as good on keyboard
I have a question and need help understanding this. Why do people prefer the corsair k70 (speedsilver) with a 1.2mm actuation point over keyboards with omnipoint which can have up to 0.1mm actuation point?
