This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!
#hyattcentric #tokyo #hotelreview
Wow….what a beautiful new, fresh and classy intro! Absolutely love the way your channel is evolving! In my humble opinion this feels like a very natural and organic step up in the development of your “brand” if you allow me calling it that. Your narration, information and imagery go perfectly in sync to an even higher level. Especially your use of graphics is impressive!!! Absolutely love it Kevin! ❤
Thanks very much for that 🙏🏻
Thanks for the review Kevin! As a Hyatt loyalist I've been loving your recent content on Hyatt brands. Probably the best unbiased reviews out there for properties I'll actually stay at. Looking forward to our stay at this Centric even more thanks to you!
I might steal your line for a future intro... "for properties I'll actually stay at" is my target haha.
Another excellent review Kevin. A very classy property overall. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Oooh..thank you! One of their suites is pink-color themed. Sooooo happy that you reviewed this property and sooooo happy you liked it🎉
Thanks for watching 🩴
Thanks for reviewing! We always stay at the Andaz Tokyo so I will have to check it out.
Andaz prices are whackadoodle haha. Would love to stay there when Tokyo comes off of it's bubble 😅
I watch your RUclips all the time. I live relatively close to Ginza, but I didn't know there was such a hotel! thank you for letting me know.❤
Lucky you! ☺️
Ha! I liked the previous intro but still love all the content! Great work, Kevin😀
Thanks for watching 🩴
I think the new intro is very smooth and to the point. It didn’t urge me to skip it like the previous ones (sorry). Review was on point as is often the case with your videos.
No need to be sorry, I'm a skipper myself 😊
Very interesting, thorough review.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Your review was very helpful when I was thinking about this hotel. Stayed in July for five days and loved it. The location and service was amazing. Room comfortable. Loved the snacks during the day and free beer in the evening.
Appreciate that! Thanks for watching 🩴
INTRO = Improved & better! Keep it fresh continue to evolve!👏👏
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Glad ur enjoying japan! Stationed in Okinawa and this whole country is beautiful
Agree! Thanks for watching 🩴
Finally Japan videos! 🥳
😊
I love hotel design and your video certainly brought out the stunning concept and colors of this property. Now I'm going to start researching Yohei Akao and Super Potato, two names I wouldn't have know until l listened to your narrative.
Super Potato is the firm attached to (what feels like) every Park Hyatt, Rosewood, Conrad, etc in East Asia lol.
Noticed the new intro immediately, like the style. Now, onto the actual hotel review 👍
Thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
amazing intro, Kevin!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Welcome to Tokyo 🎉
I really like your channel and glad to here that you are visiting Japan 🇯🇵
I always refer to✨More power to you
I don't understand the ✨ reference, but thanks for watching 🩴
Love the new intro 👍🏾
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Love this review! Been having difficulty finding an affordable modern room in Tokyo. They're mostly quite traditional and expensive for the larger rooms.
Enjoy your trip 🗺️
Nice vid!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Kevin - as usual, great
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Nice video mate. Yeah this Hyatt Centric looked almost like a W and more high end than usual .. re the intro I will miss the intro music as it was unique to your channel and fun, but I understand wanting to make the channel evolve too.
Keep this great channel going 🎉
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Hyatt Centric - a new hotel concept from Hyatt. Centric means "center" on you, the guest, hence the word "centric" while adding the local culture design to it. Thank you so much for this video. I'm glad I subscribe to you.
Thanks for watching 🩴
i always enjoy your honest review, btw have you tried blossom hotel at hibiya? 2 months ago i stayed there for 2 weeks and very super happy. We stayed on 27th floor and has a nice view room. Its very clean, quiet and pretty close with train stations
Thanks for sharing ✈️
I had to go back to some older videos to compare the intros, and tbh, I like both (minus the name sticker lol). But this new one is def smoother and sleeker. However, I did like the flip board letters of the old one. As for the content, great video as always. Looking forward to the Okura since I considered that. We ended up booking the Andaz - hope you get to review that in the future!
I liked the flip board also, arguably more, but they were a PITA to alter and just felt a bit clunky. Thanks for watching 🩴
Kevin-san, great job! I loved this video starting from the new melody, which flows naturally to gain momentum in the intro. I love the decor and the ambience since I've been a fan of Super Potato for years. The bathroom arrangement is kind of funky, but nothing that would make me have second thoughts about staying there. The price is on the steep side, but the location is superb.
I know you only stayed at 2 properties this time. If you go back to Japan in the future, please consider properties up North in Niseko -- Park Hyatt and Ritz-Carlton -- as well as the Ritz-Carlton in Nikko.
As for the puzzle, here's my wild guess with just one letter: The Albert in Sydney.
Ganbatte kudasai!
That's actually a pretty good guess... it fits and I was actually considering it in Sydney... but no, wrong continent 😅
@@tfft LOL... I'll think of another guess, then. Maybe in Cancún...
Thank You ✈️
Thanks for watching 🩴
I enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Centric Lima! The most comfortable bathrobe ever!
Thanks for watching 🩴
Wow, this Centric hotel is so beautiful, even for Tokyo standards!! I just stayed at the Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu and I was at a loss for words too, it's almost similar to an Andaz I would say, and dare I say even better than some Park Hyatts out there. Their rooftop infinity pool might be my favourite so far, even beating the Marina Bay Sands Singapore for me (if you ask me, MBS pool was always crowded and starting to show its age). Do review it if you decide to stop by Kota Kinabalu.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
You keep on getting better and better. Always looking forward to your weekly reports and reviews….always inspiring!!
Thanks very much, appreciate that!
I second that, the fresh new intro gives the channel a new stylish feel. He does continues to improve all the time 👍
I dig your new intro; it resonates with me from the get go
I was about to ask, "just the sign...?" but I guess Sign is a type of Clarion? Or the name of the neighborhood?
@@tfft there are 4 Clarion Hotel outlets in Stockholm, two of them very nearby to each other in the downtown. The Sign is one of these two. Nothing to do with the neighbourhood name. I reckon it refers to its architecture and interior concept.
Love it. I almost book this hotel for our upcoming trip to Tokyo in 8/23 but book Conrad Tokyo instead through Amex FHR because it offers complimentary breakfast & early check in . once again thank you for sharing
Enjoy it! All editing the Tokyo videos taught me is that I want to go back asap lol.
@@tfft thank you
Do I hear cruises?! I can't wait for see a Cunard review ❤
I have 4 cruises in my editing pipeline at the moment, but Cunard is unlikely to show up on the channel anytime soon lol.
:) nice , i have been watching almost all your hotel reviews, really enjoy it? do you plan on going to dubai any time soon? last time we stayed in crowne plaza dubai marina and we enjoyed it very much i think you will apprieciate it too! :) best regards from slovakia
Yes Dubai is on the books for this year. Thanks for watching 🩴
Yess first video about Japan!!! now it's depression time because of the price....😁😁😁😁
Haha yes 😅
Thanks, Kevin. This Hotel is noted. Planning to go to Japan in 2025. I hope it is not to expensive
I’m hoping prices soften a bit as well! Thanks for watching 🩴
Hey I like you new intro.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Nice review. The design is chic and well curated IMO. I stayed in Courtyard Ginza and its sister hotel next door last December, they are nice but too bland compared to this one, smaller room too! The price you paid is better than December rates, but I book using my free nites rewards.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Going to Japan again in October for the first time since the pandemic and the hotel prices are crazy compared to what I'm used to. This property looks solid but the cash rates are hard to swallow.
Agree, prices across Tokyo are absurd this year. But, that speaks to how desperate people were to get back to it. I reckon things will soften by mid 2024. Thanks for watching 🩴
The room looked nice but I think I would kill myself going to the bathroom at night - especially on the glass table and the strange lay-out 😄 Thank you for your reviews - love them!!!
What’s life without a little challenge? 😅
I have the Andaz Tokyo booked for next January with Hyatt points. If I hadn't already booked or I was paying cash I would definitely consider this hotel.
I'm pretty sure you're going to enjoy the Andaz! Thanks for watching 🩴
Nice review. The Hyatt centric, is twice the price the okura. Which one du you prefer? (I booked the high floor corner room in the okura for cheap)
Does the Hyatt worth the price/upgrade?
This is very much a Tokyo thing in general but the prices fluxuate wildly for these two properties. I've seen both with nightly rates ranging from $350-$1100+... don't know how they (especially HyCen) get away with it.
Darn! I watched your video while being hungry. Again...
You should move to a timezone where it's not mealtime when I release. Fiji and Zanzibar would both work well 😉
Gotta love the toilet!
Thanks for watching 🩴
The hideaway sink was the only thing I didn't like when I stayed there two years ago. Breakfast was very good, and the location was great. I also stayed at the Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency that trip as Globalist, and all were fine.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
The new music and opening sequence is very nice, change is always good, except when it’s not 😅
Japan is very high on my bucket list, but for some reason it kinda intimidates me.
Don't let it intimidate you, one very specific reason why: It is safe and courteous enough to make as many mistakes as you'd like. I'm not saying you were concerned for your safety, but likely whatever you were worried about was in fear of what might happen if you did something "wrong"... Get on the wrong train, walk down a dark alley, slurp your noodles too loudly, just go and enjoy it for what it is! (For the record, Japan is the only place on earth that I'd actually say this about...).
@@tfft thanks 🙏🏻
Lots of nice Hyatt Centrics out there: the South Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Key West and Kanazawa ones come to mind that I’ve stayed at post covid. The Kanazawa Centric regularly goes for 100USD a night.
The New York ones are awful though!
That being said, this Centric’s rates feel pretty exorbitant compared to the AC nearby, or the similarly priced GH Tokyo.
I’ll be staying 4 nights in August. Thanks for sharing this review!
One thing I’d be curious about is how why you chose to stay at this hotel specifically, instead of all the other options in Tokyo.
It's every hotel that I'm interested in (for a variety of reasons) plugged into an algorithm of sorts and that spits out my short list which I choose from. I go into detail about it on my Patreon. Thanks for watching 🩴
May I know. How is the air conditioning system. Cold enough?
I'm an AC fanatic so anytime I DON'T mention the AC in a video, it means it was up to standards. When it's crappy or faulty, I'll mention it specifically. Thanks for watching 🩴
Refreshing to see a Centric that’s that welcoming! And better than Auckland Park!! Wow! They target aging millennials? Almost spit out my coffee when you said you should “like or trust your roommate” bc of the bathroom door situation 😂😂😂
😅 Auckland PH was a beautiful disaster lol.
And yes, the room is outstanding. The Japanese are miles away in further thinking
So nice to get something “new”! Thanks for watching 🩴
What does ' Video N° 198 Hotel N° 126' mean in the beginning of the video?
It means it's my 198th video and my 126th hotel... 😉
6:46 That chair and table legs are positioned following the carpet pattern
Wait until you see the Okura lobby lounge 🙃
I remember when Space Invaders arcade game came out. I had a system to beating it.
I had to google it 😅
Was just in Tokyo in feb for the T Swift concert and stayed at the new edition and Aloft when in Ginza. This is head and shoulders above the aloft. The edition ginza was great - though not as good as the larger one in torranomon in some ways and of course none of them can hold a candle to the Bodrum edition.
I've been to one Edition and I gotta say I feel like I've been to them all. It is such a specific aesthetic (which I do like...) that I think will come and bite them in the ass in 10 years.
Well from what I know about Ian Schrager he might actually enjoy that!
Kidding aside, Outside of their resort properties in turkey in Mexico it’s a little cookie cutter, but maybe thats fine as long as they have the marriott platform to funnel them guests they don’t have to provide any elite benefits to.
"Travel agency rates from Aunt Betty" sounds like you are talking about my parents!! Yup, they are the ever loyal travel agency package bookers, we all know the ones they tack on about $100 a night extra, then book via a third party and pocket themselves a nice little commission and the rate never includes breakfast either. I think we are going to have to agree to disagree on the centre island in the room. It's a no for me, and you would want to be well beyond the honeymoon phase of a relationship with the bathroom situation. You are paying for the snacks, etc, in the rate, but l think it's a nice touch. All for a simplistic bed, cushions, and throws on the bed is a pet peeve much prefer just the linen. Thoroughly enjoyed this review 👍
Ahhhh maybe I need to rephrase it in the future. As I’m getting ready to starting putting out my cruise videos I’ve been watching other cruise content creators who ‘pay’ for their own cruises… but, they are also sponsored by a specific travel agency (always very small, likely a family member’s company… perhaps Aunt Betty). Those travel agencies have access to rates that are pennies on the dollar compared to what we need to pay…. And those are the rates the content creators are paying in exchange for the travel agency name drops.

You don’t want one of those Austin Powers moments with the bathroom screen 😂
😂
Does the hotel’s staff speak English well enough for communication with us travelers who speak no Japanese?
It's certainly something I'd mention if there were issues. Thanks for watching 🩴
Except for the room view, I liked everything I saw but $410!! Yikes. As a "I pay my own way" traveler, I just couldn't justify that. Coincidentally, I am currently in the final planning stages of a trip to Japan, my 1st since 2018.
Enjoy your trip 🗺️
That sink, island situation would be a deal breaker for us. That and the cost. On points, it isn't bad, usually 21K per night. But over $600 is ridiculous. On points, there is value here, especially for a WOH Globalist. But for cash, there are better values in Tokyo.
Well 21k points is worth around $580, so not too far off. Thanks for watching 🩴
The video was choppy for some reson, not smooth.
hmmmm... if it was abnormally choppy on my end I wouldn't have uploaded it. Could be your connection speed or a back end issue.
@@tfft its working ok now thanx.
could you do a review on hotels in Hawaii and the Ritz or savoy in London UK?
Almost as expensive as Okura? That’s shocking
At times significantly more…
The problem I had traveling in Japan, is that it was extremely hard to have access to complete meals as a vegan. It's as if they were expecting me to live off snacks only. I never had that problem in the States , in Europe and even Scandinavia. Plus, I have a fish allergy and in Japan, they also have a problem dealing with that seriously. Personally, I won't go back, it was too stressful because of that fish allergy and the lack of access to complete vegan meals. I've been to that hotel and, agreed, it's exceptional. But I could barely be fed sadly.
I'd say the things that make Japan such a great place for some to travel (sticking to their traditions, full stop) are also what prevent you from enjoying it! Hopefully things will change (just a little bit) over time. Thanks for watching 🩴
Japanese here. While I empathize with your fish allergy, Japan's culinary culture isn't obligated to assimilate Western trends, nor should it change for tourists.
Moreover, expecting the same food culture and criticizing it resembles cultural insensitivity, and such a colonial attitude is offensive.
