The classiest man in baseball. During an autograph signing 30 years ago, he spoke with my 5 year old and took him on his shoulders for a minute or two. All this during the signing of autographs. A very special man. A once in a lifetime act. God bless

Brooks Robinson was my idol when I was a kid. So much so, that I named my son after him. I think I picked a great guy to be my idol! Such a class act.
He is the best defensive third baseman of all time, but he is an even greater person.
I grew up idolizing Brooks. He was guest at my little league banquet one year and signed two photos for me and I gave one to my sister. I even played third and wore #5…which got me much embarrassing heckling whenever I booted a grounder.
Love Mr. Robinson's kindness and humility - Was a legend, on and off the ballfield!

@@HeritageAuctions My honor to do so - I met Brooks at a Subway in early 1980. He was signing autographs pics, and he couldn't have been nicer!
Of all the professional sports players and athletes I’ve ever met in my life. Brooks Robinson takes it all. He is an amazing human being and just an over the top class act.

My dad grew up around and played a few of his Patterson Park H.S. football games in Memorial Stadium. Dad moved to Kansas after College. Being a Kansas kid when we’d go back to Baltimore my Aunt would always take me to the Baseball games. I got as close as about 6 or seven kids away , but never got Brooks autograph. I still remember my heart beating so fast being that close to my hero. He’ll always be my favorite. I still remember a Guidepost article from 1970 after winning the World Series about how he dealt with ups and downs of the differences between the 69 and 70 World Series. In the article Brooks talked about how by chance he met his wife on a plane trip ,( Connie was a stewardess) then he went back to a time he missed a layup in the final minutes of the state basketball tournament in Little Rock ,that he felt cost them the game. After the game while spilling a few tears ,his coach put his arm around Brooks and said one play doesn’t make a game, and one game doesn’t make a season. I saved that article for 51 years and lost in a move to our new house. I’m still crushed. I wish I’d of known about that auction. He’ll always be my idol and I’m 62.

Today our so called athletes care more about money and or bashing America than they do for the love of the game, it's sad there's no role models like Brooks or Cal around anymore; if you hate then you are great in today's climate.
You're right you see players in sports today like Brett favre Peyton Manning with the egotistantly selfish attitudes and Steve Nash who stole two MVPs from better players not admitting it ,they certainly can learn from Brooke Robinson a little humility and class

One thing I love about Brooks is his refusal to denigrate todays MLB. He understands everything changes, including baseball, and he still loves the game, just the way it is. It's very easy to see why he was and is, so respected and loved.
I had the pleasure of crossing paths with a WW2 vet a few years ago. Old timer, pretty well broken down. He was telling me about walking in that year's Veteran's Day parade. He says "Yeah, I had my old dusty uniform on. And those medals, you know they give you all these medals..."
I interrupted, "Bob, I don't think the US Army is in the business of just 'Giving out medals!'." He smiled an old man smile. I'm reminded of that watching this. RIP, Brooksy.
To a lot of baseball fans, the greatest defensive third baseman the game has ever seen. I remember watching television as a boy, and would just be be awe of his defensive skills and abilities. May the lord find room for him in heaven. To me, he will always be the GREATEST OF ALL TIME. PERIOD!!!

The human vacuum cleaner, watching him (reruns) in the 1970 World Series vs. Reds was a master class on how to play third base, a true magician.

His fielding was magical,his long throws to first were otherworldly but his handling of a bunt ,I have no words for that!
I remember seeing a road named after him too when visiting my cousin, it said "Brooks" on it and I was happy to see him recognized.
@Heritage Auctions I know you probably get this a lot but I LOVE Brooks Robinson. Very loved player in our house hold and I was wondering if you could tell him that I said hi? I have posters of him and everything, FAVORITE PLAYER. Please tell him!

I could gush over Brooksie & I wasn't even an Oriole fan. I was 13 in 1970 & rooting for the Mets but those playes @ third were spectacular.
