Great content Chris, and Levi ripping on the XC10 was fantastic! Lol
I must say I was seriously impressed by the XC10-review..Levi is actually incredible in the way he's speaking - extremely fluent and comfortable to listen to :) Congratz guys, you brought up a new raw diamond to the screen - again ;)
Some awesome shots there guys! Love the outro music too!
excellent review as always, guys , you are the reference as soon as I want to get a review on a camera , this is the place I always come.
Another amazing video guys :) Great job!
Sorry for my inadequate English. Thank you so much for not add any music when people are talking! For everyone who planning to make videoes like this, this is the way to do it!
You guys always delivers great reviews.
I swear the more I watch your videos, the more I feel like packing up my bags and moving to Calgary. Awesome review as always :)
This is the review we've been waiting for.
Nah, I've been waiting for the a7rii, RX10ii and RX100iv reviews for the past few weeks. Jordan said that he's gonna upload the RX100iv review two weeks ago but there's still no sign of the review.
Mild gargle I hit a snag with the episode, but it'll be up in the next couple days.
Jordan @ TCSTV
Not really, DSLR's are going to be dead soon enough, mirrorless is the way forward.
Dinosawrs Are Awesome The reason why DSLR is still on the market is mainly because of the wide variety of lenses, bigger lenses and full frame sensors. So far, Sony is the only company with popular full frame mirrorless models (a7 series). If sony can increase the battery life and have more lenses. DSLR will actually might be dead soon.
Dinosawrs Are Awesome I dont think so unless they start to make bigger mirrorless cameras, show up to photograph an event or wedding with a small mirrorless and no one will take you seriously "whats this guy doing here with that toy camera?"
The XC10's image doesn't look very sharp for 4K, however this whole video did have a great look to it. The colours/grade and stable, smooth camera work were really cinematic compared to most of your guys' videos. Levi returned with a vengeance! Great job guys!
The Camera Store Your Reviews are great. I realy enjoy watching your Videos. I also learned a lot about shooting Video and changed many things in my personal gear because of that. Keep doing what you are doing because you held others with that out. It´s a shame i will never be able to visit your store because i´m from germany.
Greatings and best wihes from there :)
Great video guys. It was nice to see a review that included that XC10 as well. I was actually surprised because the video colors and quality looks very good. But, I wasn't surprised by any of the complaints you had with the camera. It just seems to be poorly executed in so many ways that could have been easily avoided.
First of all, as a Canon user and magazine photographer, the 5DSR sounds like a good idea on paper for someone like me. I've been shooting with 18-, 20-, and 22- megapixel cameras for the most part, and really haven't run into any resolution problems -save for the occasional stubborn art director. LOL Realistically, the Nikon d800 and d810 really hit a sweet spot that I wish Canon would have attacked rather than going for all out resolution at the sacrifice of image quality beyond 400 ISO. This camera is very limited in its use, but will not doubt perform rather well in what it was designed for.
Maybe the next iteration of the 5D or 6D will answer my wants or needs?
Canon has a habit of building very focused or limited use cameras. Today all of its competitors seem to be making their cameras more usable in a wider range of scenarios. So I don't really get where Canon's heading with its product development, but I can say that I've been looking over my shoulders at Sony and Nikon. To be quite honest, with the release of the A7RII and the likelihood of a following Nikon model with a similar sensor, the appeal of this camera has dropped tremendously.
Another great, thoughtful review.
Great review Chris - as always -and what a beautiful place you are doing your test at :-) On a personal note I'm really happy that the 5dsr is so much like the 5d3 - It's nice that you basically can go from one camera to the other - set the custom functions the same way - and just shoot. All this bs about dynamic range - for x sake - back in the "slide film days" we had 5 stops - the canon have 12.5 and the Nikon 14 - if you know your craft that is more than enough to capture stunning landscapes and superior studio work. If Canon should come up with a mirrorless high-end-system they need to redesign it all the way from scratch - but at the same time they should avoid to piss of the existing costumers - and I don't see any Canon shooters cry over the 5dsr. I read people ranting about it - but most likely they are never going to buy that camera, or any other high-end camera, so big deal. Anyway - one of the huge benefit with all the resolution is that it gives you something to work with when you do retouching - something else than pixels, that is. And even when using the softer not recommended lenses there will still be image and not pixel to retouch - and that is great. In the studio - with studio flash light and good metering the results are really great - it may not be medium format - but properly executed shoots from the 5dsr will satisfy even the most demanding costumers. I have compared the shots I have made with my 5dsr with my old studio work from slides shot with Hasselblad and Fuji GX680 on ISO 50 slide film and the 5dsr is not shamed. A fellow photographer showed me his shots of the same motif with the 5dsr and with the Phase One IX 260 - there was a difference at 100% but not a 25.000 USD difference. I'm keeping my 5d3 along with my 5dsr as I still consider the 5d3 a very good camera and a back up camera that works the same way as your main camera is always great.. I'm sure that people with the Nikon 810 and the new Sony will have an equally great time with their cameras - and I'm positive that you would have a hard time picking out what camera took what picture in a blind test of the 3 cameras. I'm not a fan boy but just a long time canon shooter - I have tried Nikons lot's of times but the ergonomics and functionality just don't work for me - and recently I have also tried mirrorless - as for now the Canon as a tool works better for me - does the Sony have features I would like on the Canon - probably yeas - but not in an amount that it will make me change system.
Dude you guys are one of the best reviewer in the business, I'm looking forward of your review on the Sony A7RII.
Great review guys
Thanks for the review with an unedited photo.
Great to see the comparison with the Pentax. I've been watching you guys for years and love your vids. I would love to see another vid with the Pentax645Z, something in the style of your Roth & Ramberg vid perhaps and getting Nick Delvin involved would be sweet. Just a thought.. its never too late!
Just wanted to call it out--Levi did a great job here, with his rundown on the XC10 as well as shooting (and editing?) this video.
Honest Review, good as always!
I walked by you guys filming this in BC! I am glad we asked what you were filming for. I am looking for a new camera for filming so this is perfect! :)
Brittni's Book Find We actually shot this one in Calgary, the BC episodes will be coming out later this month. Glad you found this video useful!
Jordan @ TCSTV
+TheCameraStoreTV, where in Calgary is this?
why you don´t stop the 2,8 down to 4?? wouldn´t it be sharper than the recommended f4? you have to use the same aperture or its like comparing apples with eggs
Great and honest review. Thanks
If I lived in Canada or the States I'd purchase my equipment from you guys, as usual great content.
I concur about the general "feel" and color of this review: it looks much nicer than the previous ones shot on either Panasonic or Sony cameras. No washed-out skin tones. Reds look punchier and the greenery is very pleasant. This is nice to know when you take into considering they shot the review almost at dusk? A nice first outing for the XC10.
Eduardo Portas sonething canon is good at, are colors. still a strong point over, f.e., sony.
Eduardo Portas what you are forgetting is that these guys arent professional colorists, I doubt they spent hours colour correcting, I have seen Vlog footage made comparable to Arri...
True. But I've seen Jordan's color corrected footage with the recent V-Log profile for Panasonic cameras. Same with S-log. They have shown the before and after...My opinion is that they are not as pleasant than what we see in this video. If you can get this nice color tone out of the XC10 with standard profiles, that's a plus in my book.
Hi Chris.
Can you tell us, or show us how the 5DSR performs in photographing buildings and other cityscape type features? Like you did in your most excellent 7D review please.
What tripod is that?
I really enjoyed your series comparing the Canon 5D Mark III to the Nikon D800/800E, any thoughts on a video or videos comparing the Canon 5DSR to the Nikon D810?
Couldn't wait for this review!Does anyone know any good film cameras that shoot video,no digital cameras. Thanks again.
Great review.
There's an error on the 5Ds and 5Dsr when shooting in Live View and in
MF mode whilst using the magnification frame. The metering system
doesn't follow the magnification frame... The metering system is stuck
to the centre of the LCD. Oddly it works fine whilst in AF mode but as a
landscape photographer i don't use AF mode... There's no problem with
the mark 2 and 3 regarding this issue!
I'll take the superior sharpness of the 5dsr/Otus combo over better dynamic range of the Pentax. Don't need to push shadows more than a couple stops. If i need more, bracketing is easy.
can you please list the lenses you used on the DS R and wha tyou recommend as the lenses to use? thanks!
Where is the comparison with D810 or A7R? Especially on the DR/noise part of things?
I want to start getting into videography and am currently doing some research on what camera I should buy. I want to make car videos which would be composed of a lot of in car perspective shots as well as exterior tracking shots. It would primarily be filmed in daylight and include a lot of wide scenery clips, but I would still like to have a camera with lowlight capability. Any advice on a what camera I should get. It's a bit overwhelming right now as this kind of thing is a bit foreign to me. I'm currently looking at the the A7s and the Canon 60D and 70D. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'm interested to know which camera&lens combo makes higher quality photos: Leica M 240 with LEICA APO-SUMMICRON-M 50mm f/2 ASPH or a Canon 1DX Mark II with a 55mm Otus??
Which ever has better image quality is my next camera and lens. Thanks!
Hey guys, which camera should I get? I'm troubled between choosing EOS 5D Mark IV or 5DSR or is there another camera I should look to? (I'm mainly going to do landscape, portraits, close-ups, night photos..ect but Portraits as a priority)
I decide my opinion about this camera, Im just waiting to see if they announce the Canon 5d mark 4!
Jai Sibal Yeah, as a long time canon shooter I’m having a hard look at Nikon right now. That D850 is so tempting. I’ll see what Canon does this year and who knows - might end up making my first ever Nikon purchase.
Hi i'm curious to know wich camera did you use to shot you talking in the nature :)
Is it true that the 5DSR is noisier at base ISO (100) and has less dynamic range than its competitors (Pentax K-1, Nikon D850, Sony A7R, etc)?
Hi your camera tests are the best on youtube in my opinion, simply great thank you. But in this case i wonder how can you forget to mention the image stabilisation on the Canon XC10? Its a fast run and gun camera and image quality and so on are just acceptable. What i need to know is how good the camera is on fast unstabilized shots and onboard microphone. i think most people that have tested this camera never understood what it was intended for. Image quality wise i am not impressed at all but honestly thats not always the most important thing for a working setup. I am looking for a fast portable camera for journalistic work. I guess there may better alternatives out now. Something that actually works, does not have ridiculous rolling shutter, does not overheat and has a usable image stabilisation for handheld shots. Most sensible priced 4K cameras dont offer all of that in one body. Please let me know what camera does all that in this price range.
The new guy is good. He deserves a nice welcome.
wow a lotta people (even canon themselves) says the 5ds is for landscapes/studio, but ive shot wildlife and weddings with it and after using the 5dsr, i think its an splendid camera for also wildlife and most general photography (replacing my 1d iv) and my 5diii is now mostly left at home cause the 5dsr does a lot of things well or even better then my 5diii, and yes most of the time i dont use an tripod or an zeiss otus, cause the images still looks superb on an 24-105l or tammy 24-70! :-)
Yeah I agree . Its actually a versatile camera. So many miscnseptions about it.
6:26... why was f5.6 1/5 on sigma but f6.3 1/1600 on canon lens?
The video seems lower quality than your usual work, which I believe is mostly shot on the GH4, right? The Canon has a different look for sure. I'm not a fan.
The video is really nice. Colors are rich. Better than the washed out look TCS videos have had for the last few months. Very nice.
What is the focus like on this thing? honestly.
Nice video. I think the audio levels were really really low though, but other than that very good!
Woah!, we live in such a beautiful country! Is there a way we can look at those files up close?
***** I'm amazed how beautiful it gets twenty minutes north of Calgary. Hitting magic hour doesn't hurt either but if anyone is visiting and wants the quintessential Alberta look drive up the Symons valley road and hit Big Hill Springs. If you go south its the "true" Alberta landscape, rolling prairies, farm machinery, and highways. Sorry, but trust me the Canon 5DSR on a tripod for all the shots I took delivers amazing image quality when used with the right glass and moderate contrast. Highly recommend it as a field camera but not for much else.
Chris @TCSTV
so many great cameras in market and im shooting my youtube videos with sony dsc wx 220 :)
0:52 You have 2 goals tonight? But it is broad daylight!! :oooo
and what about 645d? can you tell couple words about comparising between 5dsr and 645d?
Ethlay Hederikwow I've always loved the 645D from a shooting standpoint and it still can give all the modern SLRs on the market a run for their money. However I will say that the 645Z and especially the new sensor in said camera was such a huge improvement over the 645D that it should be current for years to come.
Chris @ TCSTV
hey guys.. just started shooting photos.. and i was wondering who's photographer did you mention on the last part of the video? thanks..
+Jose Liwanag Kyle Marquardt, one of our favourite local photographers: www.kylefoto.com
Jordan @ TCSTV
+TheCameraStoreTV wow i wasnt expecting a reply.thanks guys!! Last question would you trade in your canon 6d w/ 24-70 2.8 V1 to a canon 5d mark iii body only??
guys?
Jose Liwanag Only if you're feeling restricted by the AF in the 6D. That's the major difference between the two, besides build quality.
Jordan @ TCSTV
this is a full frame?
HOLY CRAP that Zeiss...
How can I buy this camere
I own a 5DSR for my studio photography and that's what pays the bills. For travel Ijust love hte Olympus MFT system.
Good to see Levi back in the studio after all those red carpets for the Paper Towns movie.
mcol3 I can see the resemblance for sure, although I think he's got a bit of a Franco brothers thing going on, except without the hollywood body, or heaps of cash, or huge movie deals. He sure can beat the S%^T out of the XC-10 though. I loved it!
Chris @ TCSTV
+chris, did you use VLog for the XC-10 review part? I'd really like it if you guys did a little video on how you prefer to dial in exposure when using the VLog!
+Hammerhaus Kennel We did shoot V-Log for that portion. I like to put my skin tones at about 70% IRE. Usually that's an overexposure of about 1 1/2 stops. I'm still hoping to put together a short VLog tutorial this month, stay tuned!
Jordan @ TCSTV
TheCameraStoreTV That's GREAT Jordan, thank you!
I have to study up a bit, is there an actual waveform available on the screen of the GH4 that shows IRE, or are you just saying that if you expose about 1 1/2 stops over on skin that you usually are at about 70 IRE? I think that's what you are saying, but I'm a little dense... Lol
Thanks again!!
D810 is better than 5DSR?
Pentax 645 'ZED'. Good job Chris!!
bigheadtaco Wow, ZED?
You guys really need to get a life if that's what you get happy about.
Why do you say ZED, but don't say THY, or THINE?, or THOU?
You think by being strange people look at you funny aaah?
Yep, rest of the world does.
sjs You do realise that Canadians, the Brits, Australians & New Zealanders pronounce the letter Z as "zed" and Americans say "zee" ? Please climb out of your hole, this is the internet
vitaliphotos So that means 319 million [over 71%] people say it correctly, and 128 million [less than 29%] people say it wrong with a ed attached. Change to the proper pronunciation, and stop looking foolish to the rest of the world.
More than 2 to 1 ratio say it with no ed.
Now you can climb back into your hole.
***** Don't be an ASS.
NO one cares what your loser country thinks.
WE IMPROVED IT!
Do you still drive a model -T; a biplane, or a 5 horsepower motorcycle? Do you heat your house with a fire, cook with a wood fire?
NOPE,
Like everything else, those ancient things have been improved and readily adopted by more intelligent people than using old crap that educated people have tossed aside.
America whipped your butts and you still cry to us when people pick on your liberal Neville Chamberlain appeasing, semi-french way of diplomacy. Yep, get with the times limeys.
In other words:
WE'RE the TOP DOGS, so get behind US and stop all that yapping you toothless dachshunds.
***** Hole? WTF are you blabbering about? Fucking stupid people.
Why don't I introduce you to real life?
Still happy with my 5D Mark III.
Dunno... this camere can't convince me at all. I mean... it's a tripod camera so you won't use high ISO anyway, but how can the dynamic range be bad at low ISO? D810 isn't good at high ISO either but the amount of shadows and highl you can recover at low ISO is just stupidly high, and that's so important for landscape.
I'm so curios about the A7r II, guess if that's gonna be as good as it's hyped it will be a game changer!
As cool as cropping is, you do have to be ok with carrying larger lenses, the heavier body of a full frame, and better support equipment.
What is photographer that he say around 8:00 ?
+Sony Soni Kyle Marquardt.
www.kylefoto.com
dunno why some ppl complaining about body design. I think current body style of 7D-5D3-7D2-5Ds/R ergonomically almost perfect, just hope that new 7D2 joystick will end up on 5D4 body ;)
No one can win this. If they keep it the same, people complain about lack of innovation. If they change it, people complain about changing a perfect set up.
Can you share your thoughts about XC-10 vs RX10II for video capture. Both shoot 4K internally, both have fixed zoom with similar ranges etc. I went for a RX10II because it was cheaper, didn't need CFast and had f2.8 across the motorised zoom range.
Calvin Chann We'll be shooting our RX10 II this weekend, and we'll certainly be comparing it to the XC10.
Jordan @ TCSTV
TheCameraStoreTV OOOH!!! can you mention thoughts of it vs the FZ1000 and maybe the new FZ300?
Calvin Chann I went for the XC10 over the RX10ii because of the image quality, codec and build. Stills doesn't interest me that much.I've used the 12mp jpegs for instagram and such, and it looks good enough for that.I suggest going with the image you like best. Compare color, that's where the big difference is at least to my eyes. Also if you plan on shooting Log, IMO C-Log is much easier to get good looking compared to S-Log.None of them are Raw... but still.
Mattias Burling
ow my Canon actually sold one of those.
These are bad times.......
May I ask what's the tripod and head you used?
kristianmag For this particular shoot I rocked a Gitzo g2542T with a JOBY Ballhead X which for $80 blows me away with its locking strength. I've seen Arca Swiss ballheads give before this one does. Perfect for lighter weight gear.
Chris @ TCSTV
Why u said so many times u gonna need a tripod ?
I was expecting some comments on the XC10 skintones. Chris looked quite orange and plasticky to me. Colors looked good otherwise. Was that due to the color grading or the camera?
Douglas Knisely
no one cares about the XC10.
Most rather just see it fade away becoming a just a footnote in imaging history.
And if it must have significance. Then as a symbol of Canon's downfall after 5 years of incremental crap.
Maybe they should learn how to use the XC10 first before they crap on it. It's obvious by Levi's statments at the end that he doesn't know what to do with it. Every other video footage I have seen of the XC10 is tack sharp, either they got a crap one or they don't know how to use it...because their footage is very soft.
Esa cámara, la XC10, está mega pinche!!!!
:D
The 5DSR actually still has a low pass filter. It just uses software to cancel out the affect like the D800 and D800e.
The filter isnt cancelled by software. Its done on the sensor.
The XC10 did pretty well in this video. Looks very detailed with the shrubbery... no "artifacting" effect.
Jeremy Gallman It looked very average 'videoish' its not bad but its not very good either, for that price tag. You can get the Sony RX10IV shoot fucking 4k in S-log2
***** I agree that its not worth the price compared to other cameras!
Jeremy Gallman At best it's a $1200-$1500 camera. $2500 is just gouging, imo..
***** The rx100iv and the xc10 has the same sensor size but the funny thing is that the rx100iv is better video camera than the xc10 despite the smaller body size. The only advantage the xc10 probably has is the longer zoom range.
trevorpinnocky Yep, and the Nikon D810 should be $800.
Please teach your cameraman not to underexpose footage and to use some flatter settings. Final results are to contrasty. Even with T2i you can achieve better dynamics.
I need this camera please send me
There are a lot of people talking about the noise in the shadows on the 5Ds, even the Fro who is not an authority at all in photography mentioned the 5Ds has a grain and noise even at ISO 100, whats your opinion on this? Cant wait for somebody, maybe a magazine, make a real review about this controversial camera.
I have the 5dsr and I shoot handheld with electronic flash in a studio environment and it is nearly flawless in this manner though of course sometimes the auto focus is off. I found by dear the best mode is to go to Center spot focus. About lenses. Every lens I own is improved by this camera. Perhaps I am able able to crop without all the ghastly processing that I see from smaller sensor cameras when cropping I am free to do all sorts of things with near impunity as the only thing that could stand in the way is mis focus or poor lens quality and I simply do mot have these issues at all. I essentially crop or compose to a standard size of 24 by 36 inches and could easily double this size with great results. Okay, dynamic range is more limited. Shadows tend to go velvet black all too easily so one must work within its dynamic limitations but in a studio it is not hard to control. 99% of the features in this camera hold no interest to me.
5dsr + Otus. Now I have drool all over my keyboard.
What is that black tripod Chris is using? Does anyone know?
Vistolia Photography I know! It was a Gitzo GT2542 T Traveller. Very stable and very lightweight.
Chris @ TCS TV
TheCameraStoreTV
Was it just an optical illusion or did you have the center column on the ground instead of the third leg @4:30?
Tsk tsk tsk.
TheCameraStoreTV Thanks man. I just saw the price of that tripod and went "What, What, What?!!!"
Vistolia Photography

Honestly, DR when photographing landscapes (which lets be honest, most will buy this camera for) is not really an issue, there is a technique called bracketing? Just have a look at some of the amazing scape toggers on 500px that use Canon MKIII's and 6D's and get amazing DR and tonality in their shots. If you are shooting weddings, then it becomes problematic, but how many wedding toggers use MF cameras.
Chris, what happened to Jordan? Did he quit?
***** Nope, slaves can't quit Dominic.
Chris @ TCSTV
+TheCameraStoreTV bahahahaha
+TheCameraStoreTV Nailed it :D
It can't compete with medium format cameras because of bad dynamic range and low light performance? I'm no expert, but I thought that medium format is mostly meant for professional photographers that shoot with a lot of studio lighting. And do they really need that much dynamic range and low light performance? Isn't resolution the most important thing for them? Or am I just being really dumb? :P
Eirik Havre landscapes and architecture too. DR will determine how much detail you're able to pull from the highlights and shadows in a single exposure.
Eirik Havre
For studio shooters they put out 16-bit tiff files that have smoother tonality in skintones. The camera store made a good video of a hasselblad vs a Nikon D800 if i recall right. Then the support for leafshutter lenses that work better with studio flashes with higher sync speeds. Meaning it's easier to kill off ambient light sources.
Medium formats are also used for very large professional landscape shots that you will find in magezines such as national geographic. But Nikon D8xx series sure took a number on that application. Apart from the Pentax 645z/d medium format is not weathersealed. So carrying a D8xx series camera into the wilderness makes things a lot easier. The smaller size helps too.
I don't think this Canon can eat into the D810 for this application. Difference in Dynamic range seems to be 2 stops or more and that's just too much for that slight gain in detail.
Is the beginning keyed in? it looks so freaking weird.
+Theron Logan No, everything is shot on location. Odd light that day.
Jordan @ TCSTV
Great review. Sorry to say but the Video did look VERY soft.
The 5DS R may not be a medium format camera, but it does have a lot of pixels for those who need it. Depending on how my work goes, maybe I'll even get one in the distant future. Really though, I'd much rather see the 5D IV with better dynamic range and low light performance.
The XC10 on the other hand is sounding like a flop. One thing I'd like from Canon is a lens roadmap and a listening ear. The slow innovation is painful and for me, the lack of high performance APS-C f2.8 zooms from Canon is making me want to jump ship to Fujifilm; I just don't have the money and Fujifilm doesn't have a large enough lens lineup and support yet.
Would like to see the comparison 645Z/5DSR without that ton of sharpening mask on the Canon file.
StudioMarand Official They didnt do "ton of sharpening mask". They did put a Otus lens on it. Sharpest lens in the world.
MikedieONE So You do not understand the difference between a sharp lens and a sharpened file.
I want one
We are all honest professionals, use Canon, Nikon or Sony is a mere detail. We deliver to our customers a clean work and well done. This type of video is pure marketing work in order to bill money ... now created a God called Dynamic Range. I use Canon since 1992, already were so many bodies and lenses that lost count. I never had any disappointment or complaint. I have friends who use Nikon and likewise had no problems because Nikon also makes good cameras. We are all honest professionals and use good equipment.
You guys should do a camera review, high.
Omar Carrasquillo Sorry Omar, we just don't have the budget for drugs.
Chris @ TCSTV
chris I'll send you $20. In Canadian that should be a million.
What's up with the kids review... he says it's not as bad as I thought it would be. So he picked it up already deciding it would be bad? He doesn't even mention it's meant to be used as a B or C camera.
I keep hearing that you can't hand hold this camera. I actually own the 5dsr, and I've had no issues hand holding this camera and getting fantastic results, even at 100% zoomed in. I will say though, if your camera technique is weak, you should increase your shutter speed.
2Cat Productions You can totally hand hold it and get amazing results. As amazing as any other camera handheld and faster shutter speeds are very helpful too. However if you want to get every ounce of resolution out of the sensor on this or for that matter ANY other camera a tripod will be necessary.
Chris @ TCSTV
The Sony AX100 4k camera is cheaper than the XC10, yet better. Full manual controls, switchable ND filters, great codec that grades good, very good in low light.
point of interest: crazy bug kamikaze @ 6:36
5DSR VS A7RII Shootout
Thomas Ooi The a7r ii will beat the Canon in everything but AF speed. The resolution will be pretty close.
skatertwig26 A7rII most likely has better AF speed
***** We will see, I hope it does.
***** from what i have seen..nope, it doesnt. there is still big room for improvement on mirrorless cameras in this regard. m43 cams are quite nice now, but its a whole different story to do that kind of fast read-out from a big fullframe sensor.
Digi20 Most of what is shown now is adapted lenses, with native lenses it will be faster then Canon lenses.
6:36 was that a bird?
So, if you are going to buy a camera like this, just get a Sigma SD or DP series camera. Its basically the same thing, for 1/5th the cost.
Honestly, the 5DS(r) is looking more and more like a camera maybe they shouldn't have released without some more work, and certainly not before the Mk IV, which is the camera most people are really waiting for. If you pay almost $4K for this camera, shame on you... lol
On the XC10
