So... what do you reckon we should do about the hands? Scan our own, break up some model skeletons, or cast some toddler hands?

The model skeletons would be cool as you could have the bone showing through bits of the hand, perhaps where some flesh has been worn away due to the weak, rotting aspect of the dead biomass.

I like the idea that it absorbs the things it eats or adds to itself by just shoving them into its own flesh and becomes this huge amalgamation of the things it encounters

Something like that actually has precedent. In the Warhammer+ episode “Plague Song,” a Death Guard sorcerer breaks into an Astropathic Relay, and has a Nurglite Chaos Spawn absorb the Choir in order to send Nurgle’s Plague energy throughout time and space.

You have to have a funny little nurgling on the very top of the model, one in a victorious pose while other nurglings are trying and failing to climb the unclean one

The idea that came to my mind was that the hand holding the sword could be that of a ghoul. A little slimmer with bits of skin and perhaps visible bones. While the hand holding the bell could be that of a frog or toad. In any case, I am very impressed with your project. Thank you for allowing us to take part in this.

I've heard that baking things you get from outside (or off of Temu in this case) inside a stove or toaster oven will kill off any of the bacteria and hopefully any other unwanted guests. Regardless, I love these projects. It's so fun to watch things go from just the sketching phase all the way to when it'll eventually be complete.
Yeah! We did that for the sticks we found locally and used for the sword handle, but we stupidly assumed that pre-dried wood sold as a product might be... y'know... not bug infested! Haha

I likes the idea of the skeleton hands can do something like the spine but looking really cool
I bought "zombie hand reaching out of ground" decorations from the local party city a few Halloweens ago. and cheepskates that they were, the hands were about 1/2 the size of a real hand. Which made them perfect for the statue terrain I was using them for, and might also make them perfect for your unclean one. Although the reaching-for-the-sky fingers would probably need to be repositioned in a fiddly way if they aren't posed the way you want them.
The other thought I had was that you could probably find a big octopus toy from Safari or one of those other groups that supplies zoo gift shops, and make it into a hand with tentacles for fingers.

You could make one of the hands just a tentacle that swirls around the handle of the sword or bell, maybe with smaller tentacles "coming off it" as it were.
On another note, maybe you could have Plaguegearers or nurglings erupting from boils on the body, like little egg sacks, or even sitting on platforms they've built into the body with corroded steel or brass, or rotten wood, or even hardened mucus.

Hands - garden wire armature layered with foil and posed in place then build up around it. Might be nice to extend the fingers slightly after the knuckles (think Grinch or ET) to make them more tentacley/unsettling

You could use baby doll hands as a base and then "Nurgle-ify" them.
However I really like the idea of you both scanning your hands and using those! Infact, all your ideas were good.

This project is so cool. I love how its progressing and the clever ways you are thinking about how to make it look more like a actual wargaming model rather than a pile of insulation foam painted green
For the bell, instead of a hand, have it be the two bones in the lower arm (needed to do a bit of googling) the radius and the ulna, with the ends sharp and the bell chain wrapped between them. Kinda like a two pronged fork with spaghetti on it.

Some of the texturing made my skin crawl, perfect for Nurgle. In some ways it reminds me of the giant flesh monster Tetsuo turned into in Akira.
another option for hands of the Titan-sized great unclean one is to take measurements of the normal sized great unclean one's hands and upscaling the hands and compare it to the forearms of the titan-sized great unclean one to check if it's too big for the arms

I think one idea for holding either the sword or the bell could be a mass of tentacles wrapping around the handle. For the bell, I can imagine the handle being longer and it's holding it over its head(s) like a dinner bell

I may be late, but it would be cool to have insects or some other units crawl out of giant pimples, eye sockets, or guts. This way, Great Unclean one can also be a transport.

Love the casting hands idea! Look into a substance called Alginate. It sets up very quick, is all natural and good for one cast. It's ideal for casting kids hands as in the worst case scenario it tears very easily, so if a little person isn't enjoying the experience or can't figure out how to wiggle their hand free just rip it. It's also a lot cheaper than silicone because it is a one cast only mold
Just what I needed with my morning coffee.
For the hands, especially with Summer in full swing soon, look for early Halloween bargains and get some posable skeleton decorations. They would make great armatures for further sculpting or could even stand alone if the detail is good enough.
I knew what I was in for, but the 'ravenous little demon mouth for a nipple' really got me😂

I don't know if it would work based on the weapons you plan to add, but perhaps with the bell you could have it be sort of a hand replacement? Like how in some media you see a flail that's mounted on a stump with what looks like a giant thimble and then there is a chain hanging down that the head of the flail is attached to. Might be cool with that bell taking the place of the flail head.
