I mean, they used the have a giant fibreglass Godzilla and a battery of lasers that they shot at a disco ball, Eric used to ride a motorcycle on stage, Blue Oyster Cult is no stranger to performance art
I used to put the symbol everywhere as well. I remember when the band was breaking big in 1977 and came to Potsdam, NY to play at Clarkson College, in the tiny little Walker arena which seated about 2500. The youngest Bouchard brother lived in my dorm, and the Rythym section Bouchards were from right up the road in Watertown NY. BOC brought their entire big MSG sized lighting rig and sound show, lasers in the eyes, Eric with the Laser machine gun, etc...it was awesome. Being a Long Island guy I was already into them, but they had their origins first in Potsdam the decade before as Clarkson students. Total fan from that day on. Great hard and smart Rock and Roll. The first 3 Albums were my favorites, Agents and Spectres followed and sold big and were very good. I miss the 70s. In a way, the "Cowbell" sketch gave them a little notoriety and new life but for me, BOC takes a back seat to no one. Thanks, Guys !!!! Hope to see more quarantine vids here.
I made an awesome plaque of their symbol and put it on the door of my dorm room, freshman year. Was utterly obsessed with all things BOC, both the band and their music felt mystical and mysterious. A thinking man's metal. :)
I can't tell you how happy this made me! Big grin on my face the whole time! Don't Fear The Reaper is still one of the greatest rock tracks of all time.
Buck you doing your best Michael Douglas impersonation ??? Great lineup by the way guys.... a great blend of young and not as young.... BOC forever...!!!
Been with you gents since the first album. Used to draw the symbol with B.O.C above it on my school books, walls, shoes. I tagged anything I could. I remember when you came to Utah on the Blue and Black tour. Due to Ozzy's failure Sabbath cancelled and you played the whole show. Always my favorite band. The movie the Stoned Age was halarious and you were the central theme. Still watch the DVD and your hawking of your own tour shirts at the end . 😅😂🤣😭 Thanks for bringing rays of light to these dark times.✌️🤘👣👣👣
I did the same thing as a teenager. Put the emblem on everything, books, shoes, walls, etc. A guy in high school in a class said to me ( holy shit you have Blue Oyster Cult written on your shoes) people say that they remember me as Mr. Blue Oyster Cult. I wrote in silver paint on the side of a building Blue Oyster Cult Godzilla. With the Cult emblems on both sides. It lasted over 15 years before it was removed.👍✌️😃. Keep listening to BOC. Cult lives.👍✌️.
@@TheoIam IN UTAH Black Sabbath didn't show. Of course DIO blew Ozzy out of the water. DIO could sing. Regardless it was only B.O.C. here. I still have my shirts and ticket stubs. All framed.
Awesome! BOC needs to setup a paid only Zoom 'exclusive' tour (unplugged) with Q & A spaced between some tunes. Maybe also a Zoom Special Feature with the brothers (Joe and Al Bouchard) and Patti Smith to speak of the late Allen Lanier). Good idea?
I love this video. You can tell they’ve played together forever and their tones mesh perfectly. Every instrument distinct, crisp, clear. Appreciate bands doing this to satiate our desire for live music.
I will be a BOC fan for life. I believe it was in the mid to late 80s that they played in Rockford Illinois at the Metro Centre. My buddy Mike had a motorcycle accident while serving in the Airforce and broke his back paralyzing him from the waist down. He bought tickets to that show and they upsold him on front row handicapped seating. Well, there were two opening acts that day and we got there halfway through the first band. I believe it was Tesla, but I saw so many shows back then I could be mistaken on that. Aldo Nova was up second and when he started playing, the whole first ten rows stood up and moved right in front of the stage. Mike couldn't see a thing. Now tell me, what's the good of upselling someone front row tickets and they can't see the show. If he just wanted to hear them he could have played their records. The way they set up that seating was to put me at the end of the front row and him right next to me. Now I could stand up with all of the other people, but Mike couldn't. It angered me to no end when Centre officials wouldn't do anything about it after I complained to anyone that would listen. Finally, I walked over the security guy at the backstage entrance and asked if when BOC came on if Mike could slide right behind the security wall between the stage and the fans. He said he couldn't do that but would ask the band if that would be ok because Mike was either stuck not seeing the show the way he paid to see it or go all the way to the back of the building to the other handicapped section. He came back a few minutes later and said, "they said that would be fine but when the bass player comes over and nods at him, tell him to duck out of the way because some pyrotechnics were going to go off right where he would be sitting". I hadn't told Mike what I was doing or the plan until the lights went down for Blue Oyster Cult to take the stage and I said to Mike, come on let's go. He was like, "but the band is starting" and, I'm like "you can't see them anyway" come on. Well, I got him back behind that wall and his smile never left his face for three days after that. When the bass player gave Mike the nod, he pulled himself out of the way and that flash pod brightened him up so much he was almost "angelical" looking......lol.....And I'm an Atheist......lol Well, Mike has long since passed and this is one of my favorite memories of a lost brother from another mother. I will always be a fan of Blue Oyster Cult They are not just great musicians, but they are great people.

It was December 17, 1984, Bayou Theater in Washington DC, supporting Revolution By Night. The gig was advertised as "The Soft White Underbelly" and only BOC fans would know what that meant. So my friend and I went. We sat at a table about 10 yards from the stage, getting served beer and sandwiches. We still weren't certain until the band hit the stage and were introduced as "The Amazing Blue Oyster Cult!" No warm-up act, but still The. Best. Concert. Experience. Ever! Rick Downey still on drums. First time I ever saw Buck without a mustache! I got a Soft White Underbelly T-shirt, but I gave it to a dude I no longer keep in touch with. Bad choice. Hey Fake Name! I mean, they used the have a giant fibreglass Godzilla and a battery of lasers that they shot at a disco ball, Eric used to ride a motorcycle on stage, Blue Oyster Cult is no stranger to performance art
@SonofSethoitae They had the jams to back it up . I think comment was meant to say was that wasn't ALL they had. Like it is for some .
2:22 Oh! _Oh!_ Didn't see that coming!
BOC was a big part of my life in the 80s.
I made an awesome plaque of their symbol and put it on the door of my dorm room, freshman year. Was utterly obsessed with all things BOC, both the band and their music felt mystical and mysterious. A thinking man's metal. :)
Love the Zepp riff thrown in there @ 2:57 !! Truly one of my favorite songs ever.!
I picked up on it also. Fuckin killer!
This is exactly what I needed to hear this morning.
BOC ROCKIN MY MORNING!!!! Now I'm ready for work.
I can't tell you how happy this made me! Big grin on my face the whole time!
Don't Fear The Reaper is still one of the greatest rock tracks of all time.
I could listen to (Don't Fear) The Reaper every day and never tire of it.
@@tygrkhat4087
Exactly! And as hilarious as the "more cowbell" SNL sketch is, I almost feel like it made a great rock song into a punchline.
I have a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell.
It really is the greatest of all time I think too...everyone knows and likes the reaper..just has something magical bout it..
Keep Rockin'!!!!
Buck you doing your best Michael Douglas impersonation ??? Great lineup by the way guys.... a great blend of young and not as young.... BOC forever...!!!
BÖC laying down fantastic performances since 1967
THIS SONG NEVER GOT THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES!!!!
and they should've had a segment with the 5-guitar attack, jus' sayin'...
I LOVE THE NIGHT
for me 🙏
This Is my favorite song, Is perfect 💙💙💙💙
Best quarantined song I've seen yet, by any band, period. Been listening to your stuff for four decades and you're better than ever. Well done boys!!!
This made my day and probably my week! Thanks Buck, Eric, Richie, Jules, and Danny
Awesome....seen them twice in concert. 1979, Black & Blue tour 1980 ( Black Sabboth & Blue Oyster Cult ) BOC blew them away !!!😊
Danny Miranda is wearing a Police “Ghost in the Machine” hat.
I LOVE this!!
It was the black and blue tour. Ozzy was long gone. Dio was fronting and blowing anything Ozzy did out of the water
The first album? Man oh man that got me hooked.
@@TheoIam IN UTAH Black Sabbath didn't show. Of course DIO blew Ozzy out of the water. DIO could sing. Regardless it was only B.O.C. here. I still have my shirts and ticket stubs. All framed.
You guys rock!
My favorite band 😭💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Go go... legends ..BOC..YOU ROCKED OUR HOUSE PARTIES ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER STOP...
Since high school when they basically first started...my favorite band of all time and forever. Thanks for all the great tunes!
Good idea?
Best quarantine present I could hope for! Thank you!
That was life changing
I love some BOC. Play some Don’t Fear The Reaper lol
I love this video. You can tell they’ve played together forever and their tones mesh perfectly. Every instrument distinct, crisp, clear. Appreciate bands doing this to satiate our desire for live music.
I couldn't help but clap at the end. I swear.
Truly! Me too!
Thanks, guys!!!!!! One of my favorite songs ever, by the real cats! Nice & raw, too!!!!! Thanks, again, BOC!
Wow!!! What a treat!! BOC is visiting me at home! YES! Thank you!
When the bass player gave Mike the nod, he pulled himself out of the way and that flash pod brightened him up so much he was almost "angelical" looking......lol.....And I'm an Atheist......lol
Well, Mike has long since passed and this is one of my favorite memories of a lost brother from another mother.
I will always be a fan of Blue Oyster Cult They are not just great musicians, but they are great people.
True masters of their craft! I have loved this band for most of my entire life. Saw them first on the Agents of Fortune tour when I was a kid and I was hooked. Please do Flaming Telepaths guys. But all of the catalog is fantastic. Just please do more.
Thanks men. Hail from a fan of 5 decades. Wishing you health, safety and much happiness!
43 Years later, and BOC and this song still ROCKS!
*LongLiveTheKing*
Listening to this, I Don't Fear The Reaper. While everyone is say "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", I'll wait until we can go out safely and be Dancin' in the Ruins
Well it doesn’t matter if we to dust. (Turn and turn and turn we must)
GentlemanPenguin PLEASE DONT USE LANGUAGE LIKE THAT AND FALL FOR THIS BULLSHIT PLANNEDEMIC. IT IS SAFE OUTSIDE. IN FACT , WAY SAFER OUTSIDE. “ MY PEOPLE PERISH FOR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE “.
Jim Younger Woosh!!
Covid19: I am the one you warned me of
Then came the last days of May, and the virus still hasn’t gone away.
My Dad said he saw you guys play years and years ago in a small club under the name "Soft White Underbelly".
That was probably for the Fire of Unknown Origin Tour. They did some small club dates under that name. The opening act was David Rotor. The full tour followed soon after.
Are you my kid?!
@@ArjayELevin I went and saw a taping of the Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder for free, and they happened to be the guest and they played "Burnin' For You."
@@ArjayELevin Yup. They played my local biker bar!!! What a draw-dropping show for such a small venue.
As I recall, when I saw them play The Old Waldorf as SWU in San Francisco back in 1982, the drummer even wore that goofy Godzilla head in that small club.
How can someone give thumbs down to this veteran band, playing a classic song to elevate our spirits, during this hard moment in everybody´s life? Shame on you! Blue Oyster Cult rules! Great job, guys! Cheers from Brazil!
Friggin Buck is still amazing!
High on the list of underrated rock guitarists.
Buck, where's the Les Paul? 😁
This is an epic tune thx guys 😃 was in a fun party garage band 35 years ago this was always our closer brought the house down everytime. Still great! How nature points out the folly of men!

Thanks for the memories guys! B.O.C., one of my all time favorite bands. Just so many classics.

Incredible! Thank you B.O.C. for so much great music 🎶. You rock!
My dad was stationed in Hawaii when I was 6, and I would run around my house screaming this song at the top of my lungs... until my mom chased me out of the house. Good times!
