Funny enough I wonder if it has to do with climate. I live in New Mexico, my house doesn't have central air so it's quite warm in the house. But I notice the ice and my drinks get warmer in the simple modern cup than my stanley.

Please screw the lids tight next time you do a test. Leaving the lids loose completely defeats much of the insulation.
