Designing synth patches is a great way to focus on sound design. I had been thinking about a certain patch I wanted to make, and thought the Novation Peak would be the perfect tool!
For this beat, I used the Novation Peak synth to design the main sample, and the SP 404 MKII as the sequencer to edit samples, including drums, melodies, and bass.
I hope you enjoy this workflow, and synth house beat, and I hope the video provides some inspiration for your own production. I will be in the comments, so let me know what you want to see in a future video!
I love when videos like this pop up that incorporate two pieces of gear I already own and use. Immediate inspo.
This is so amazing
Thank you for creating this tutorial and demonstration! Really enjoyed watching this and listening to that beat you created at the end. Nicely done.
As usual Ryan, love this! Its great to see a sample based artist getting into the nitty gritty of sound design! Appreciate you man!
Thanks Ryan, love how you took it through sound design and into a track space. Would definitely like to see more of you process in other videos. (Subscribed)🎉🎉
Nice job. I really want to own one of these!
I really don't get my synths out enough. Thanks for the inspo!
Great video, still trying to pick between the argon8, cobalt8, and hydrasynth for this role specifically
Every time I watch one of your video it’s like I’m talking to an old friend that I haven’t seen in a while but yet we pick up right where we left off.
Thanks man, really appreciate that!! Thanks for watching as always bro
I do house and hiphop too, but on an mpc2000/vinyl and logic and Maschine, korg minilogue..really relate to your vids..big ups from Oakville, Ontario
Showing off that ear with the c note 🎧
I love the Peak but it seems so silly that it has six knobs dedicated to pitch modulation, yet it's almost always better to do those modulations in the mod matrix. It would have been so much more useful to have those knobs be for something else, like FM, or breaking out the waveshaping knob that constantly forces you to tab back and forth between settings.
I'm way new to this entire 'thang' lol. But I have a new client coming that I may need to get some chops ready in a hurry. I need to look into that Roland SP thing, too! Thanks for the vid.
Can you do more vids on the sp404? The vids of you chopping samples on it are great
Cool ass dude lol
Seems like you overcomplicated the patch. If you set the mod depth as a positive number and set the env attack and sustain to 0, then the note would start high and always land on the note you're playing and you'd just have to adjust the env decay to control how fast that happens. Nice beat though!
“All roads…”
I think you could also use the pre-glide function for a similar effect.
'Promo SM'
Mate you need to stop talking in that pattern it’s unbearable. I don’t believe for a second that it’s your real accent, the video seemed like it had great content but I had to try and skip through and ended up not watching.
I don’t want it just to seem like a dog, I honestly think you might get more viewers if you just speak like you do away from these videos.
