Interesting Pythagoras remark! Worth to check out, right? After knowing Wim more or less only from the “Gooische Herberg”, I was surprised when he invited me to play a trio gig with him, and the first song we played was “80/81”! For me - happy to know a little bit of swing and Bossa Novas, and expecting something along the lines of Be Bop, it was an unexpected challenge, to read things such as »freely« and Solo »Open« in the chart. On the way home, I asked Wim about the tune. And he, who otherwise spoke very little, talked about Pat Metheny and this piece the whole way home. Unfortunately, his comments exceeded my horizons at the time many times over. The next day I asked everybody for Pat Metheny records to copy on cassette tape. Anyway - beautiful version. Thanks! The guitar indeed sounds truly awesome!
