    The league and its union instituted “legacy benefits” in its last accord in 2011 that supplemented pre-93 retirees’ pensions by between $108 and $124 monthly per credited season.
    Their pensions continue to lag behind those of other sports, however. A 10-year NFL veteran who retired before 1993 receives between $24,000 and $43,560 a year before tax at age 55, according to FAIR.
    In contrast, FAIR said a Major League Baseball player who retired after 1980 following a 10-year career receives about $200,000 yearly at age 62 and a 10-year NBA veteran who retired after 1965 receives about $215,000 a year at age 62.

    • @bigdinlaca
      @bigdinlaca 3 года назад +1

      Going off of memory and my unpopular opinion was that he was great in some yrs just wasn’t consistent.
      The three sb he won were his only years he rushed for 1k. Yes, in the all purpose yards, he had 1k or more but that was quite common during that time. I would guess that at least 40% of all rb starters rushed for 1k and more than half also had at least 1,300 all purpose yards each season. So my first opinion is that if you plug in a rb like Ernest Byner, McNeil, or Morris, the drop off wouldn’t be much or none at all. Which goes to my second opinion.
      When the niners added Ricky Watters, they didn’t miss a beat after Craig left. Also, hate to admit this but remembering the numbers and how the careers went, Watters was the better back overall and he did it on two different teams after playing for the Niners. Watters deserve to be in the HOF just as much, if not, more than Craig.

      Exactly you can’t make an all decade team and still be left out! Like Shannon said Drew’s numbers compared to his era are amazing you can’t compare them to any of the Wr now. They didn’t play spread then and QBs were throwing the ball 40-50 times a game.

  • @lucaspless8599

    I loved Shannon Sharpe back in the day. He's still the first tight end I'd select if I were creating a greatest of all time roster. The man was a true leader, an awesome receiver before tight ends were used that way, he could block and he was a winner. The whole Hall of Fame debate on who'd be in, who should be in and who shouldn't be in always bugs me a little. I hear people say "It's not the Hall of Good or Very Good". Then I hear who's great and should be in the Hall of Great. Well, my problem with that is simple, it's not the "Hall of Great" either. It's the Hall of FAME. The key word is FAME. One can achieve great fame without actually being great (Eli Manning comes to mind). Personally, I think the Hall should be exclusive to the greatest of greats, but if it is to be a Hall of Fame, then you have to put guys in that maybe weren't great, but had a great impact on growing the games popularity. Eli shouldn't ever get in to a Hall of Great, but a Hall of Fame, he should easily walk right through the front door. Joe Namath wasn't great, he never even sniffed greatness (well maybe he did off some super hot reporter a time or two) but he was the epitome of Famous and therefore is a Hall of Famer. Maybe the players can create their own "Hall of Great" and enshrine their own members. I'd dig that. Shannon Sharpe and T.O. would definitely be in that Hall, 1st ballot.
