I would probably play with the settings a little more and probably set the Front at around 0-2 for max comfort to the driver, but the Back around 3-5. This will help level out the car when you have weight in the back trunk or passengers in the back seats. Also, anytime you accelerate, the back wont come down as much at a 3-5 compared to the 0 where the G forces seem to it sink down to the ground a lot.
If setting zero is best it suggests there needs to extension of damper range. Equivalent to fractional or negative settings - lower than zero. More sophisticated bushings attaching mass supporting load paths may be needed to get rid of the crashing noise (booming / banging) when going over sharp bumps. Tuning that out with springs / dampers may not be possible. Some bushing changes will worsen handling - which is why race cars often get Heim joints or urethane bushings. More suspension control at the expense of a harsher and noisier ride. Squat or dive is affected by suspension geometry. For instance, tipping the angle of the front wishbone down at the front diminishes dive and squat - although at some ride quality penalty. As you said, lots of tradeoffs.
The suspension is fine. I don’t get the complaints at all. I just picked up my model y performance on 2/19 and it’s a smoother ride than my Infiniti QX70 that I had before. Feels the same as my wife’s 2019 rav4 as well!

On my 21 M3P, I switched to 18in wheels/tires and dropped the psi to 38. Ride is smoother and a bit softer. I live in SF so you still feel the crappy roads and stupid pot holes but a bit better than having 20 inch at 42 psi. I only put 42 psi when road-tripping for maximum efficiency. I had a Model S with air supsension.. it wasn't more cushy (on the 2014) it allowed the car to move higher or lower, but the overall ride quality was not better.. (pre raven models of course) in the higher suspension, where I would place it when I had my bike rack on the trailer hitch... it would be so rough of a ride.

Case in point was my 2003 BMW 330XI manual that I still had up to a couple years ago. I much preferred the ride compared to the newer, non M BMW’s. At some point, maybe all Tesla models will allow buyers to configure the suspensions to their liking.

Nice video, good to see you tinkering with the settings. So, it would bottom one corner of the car if I were to attempt it at speed. The top is fine, but the bottom of the drive is so crazy that an underinflated tire can actually come of the rim making the corner.

Yes substantially
Sounds like a loud cabin.
I hate the ride on my Y Performance, feels like a paint shaker often, and this is coming from a BMW M4 previous owner which felt like a Lincoln Town car in comparison.
I might take u up on those wheels
Send me an email if you want them: rgbgfive@gmail.com
Why they didn't set them to 0 when they were installed? There must be a reason.
What's your honest opinion on the MagBak charger? I've considered it but a hundred bucks?!?! Yikes! Otherwise, I love the content, keep it up!
I know you bought your Tesla…. I tend to prefer leasing… my question is if I lease a model y do you know if Tesla would take issue with me putting this suspension system on a leased car…. Not sure if you know the answer would love to know…
I would say get the car first and see how you like it before you order the suspension. Also yea you could put the suspension on you would just have to return it to stock before you turn the car in which is annoying
04:00 "S and H, stiff and... hard" =D
Physics is fun!
Does anyone know which setting between 0-32 is equivalent to stock? 16 maybe?
Not sure
@@Gjeebs I spoke to Unplugged they said 16 is about stock. Mine are on the way! Cant wait.
Ioniq 5 loaner? Video coming soon?
Yep. Lots coming
Suspention and Tires are officially negating the fuel saving 😂
what I really would kill for would be to have a factory air ride setup.
It would be cool if it was an option
Halo theme song 🤣
S stands for Slow, and H stands for Hustlin'
I've been driving BMWs for the last three cars. The suspension on the '21 M3LR seems quite similar to the 3 series BMW and even to the 5 series, but a wee bite softer would be nice. On the 0-32 scale did you test to see where the standard Tesla suspension might be? That would be interesting to know.
Standard suspension is like 16-18 from what I understand
Would have loved to se it ride at 3-5.
Just tested a tesla 3 today and it was more uptight than most cfo’s lol
So how much was the total? was this sorry late to the channel
2500 for hardware 600 for install
Will they install other brand coilovers for that price?
I saw you at the Del taco wedding 💒 🌯
Wow, that OnlyFans plug lol. Also, you said MagBak charges your car @ 7:14 :D I wish Unplugged had a Model Y we can compare before/after though, I feel like it's still placebo/gimmicky... when I get my MYLR this year (hopefully) I'll probably drive down to Hawthorne because of you -.-
