The first half of this trail was the most gruelling section of the four days I spent hiking but hiking with new friends made it that much easier.
From the amazing glacier (scary) crossing to the Fimmvörðuháls and down past a million amazing waterfalls we headed to our final destination at Skógar. With painful feet and ankles, and a desperate need to rest, this section was both hard to appreciate but also the most amazing scenery I think I have ever seen.
Those holes in the ash covered glaciers are pretty terrifying but worth the risk, Wow, what incredible views and falls, thank you for taking us with you.
Simply beautiful atmosphere, these landscapes are phenomenal my friend!
They are!
What a great way to end the hike - those waterfalls are just stunning!
Yeah I like those little waterfalls too, especially surrounded by so much moss - so cute!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing waterfalls - thanks so much for sharing. Looking forward to the next episode!
Agree...stunning
Epic adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
The waterfalls are amazing. The road system in Iceland is rather "new". They build the roads to pass by the big attractions. You can see this at the Geysirs, Pingvellir National Park, or the Gullfoss waterfall.
Yeah, I like that. It was certainly the trip of a lifetime
Thats a brutal landscape - is there a best time of year to hike Iceland? i thought that was an owl in a hole at 2.30. Also - does the black ash not absorb sunlight and cause the ice under it to melt? i thought that was how it worked.
