The waterfalls are amazing. The road system in Iceland is rather "new". They build the roads to pass by the big attractions. You can see this at the Geysirs, Pingvellir National Park, or the Gullfoss waterfall.

Thats a brutal landscape - is there a best time of year to hike Iceland? i thought that was an owl in a hole at 2.30. Also - does the black ash not absorb sunlight and cause the ice under it to melt? i thought that was how it worked.
