Fishing For Tiger Trout at Merrium Lake

Hiking into Merrium Lake for some high mountain lake fishing. Terrible road conditions but amazing views and tiger trout!

I'm trying to use Merriam lake as an attack point for Mt. Idaho. I plan to head south along the ridgeline and bag Leatherman, then Mt Church, Donaldson, and so on through the 12ers that are south of Borah. Do you think an AWD Subaru Forrester or similar SUV could make the drive?

Any bear sightings or signs of bears? I like to take the necessary precautions when backpacking/fishing, and this lake (and Pass Lake) is on my bucket list.

Heading here soon. Do you think it’s possible to ever swim in the lake or is it always too cold?

I don't know about late summer. I wouldn't swim out very far though, I'm sure it stays pretty cold which can be dangerous if you try to swim too far.
