Another well done video by The NEw Fly Fisher. Loved the cinematography and the fishing. Mark you do a marvelous job as host. Keep up the excellent work. God Bless and Tight Lines, Anthony Hipps
Watch out for bears. I’ve had a lot of close encounters fishing in Idaho. Bears are aggressive there. Staying near Yellowstone and Driggs is the best. No reason to go further.
Hi, Ive decided to go on some fishing adventures. Looking for Streams and, hiking to alpine lakes in Sawtooth's/ Tetons areas and possibly others if I hear of them. I'll be alone most of the time backpacking , camping and not knowing anything about the areas I'll be entering. Ive never had a cougar or, bear encounter before. I was wondering how prepared do I need to be on my adventures. I am a greenhorn , I'm going it's something I have to do. Any Tips from you would be appreciated. Thank you, John.
I enjoy all of your videos but really liked this one. This location is also more doable for a guy like me who doesn't have the money to travel to some of the other destinations you guys show (no complaint since I love those episodes as well, just more of a possibility). I love how genuinely you enjoy the experience and the fish, Mark.
Looks like you cut your teeth on small mouth. When you consider all the factors, accessibility, fight, willingness to take a fly, beauty……for me it’s smallies, with a side of bonefish.
The alpine lakes are my favorite part about living in Idaho. The fish up there are so aggressive and eat everything and anything. Just find a spot with fish, cast, and you've now caught a fish. Last year I used the IDFG lakes map to help me catch my first golden trout and greyling and this year I'm hoping to finally get a bull trout.
When you say, "I've put a beetle on," can you have a close-up of the fly. It would really help me develop my fly collection and my knowledge of the names of the various flies.
Small streams, and small lakes in truly beautiful country, that's the bees knees!!!! Cant wait for summer garsh darn it haha. Love the video as always Mark/TNFF!
Fishing for stocked trout in a stock pond, well at least you weren’t fishing with night crawlers. Its a bit of a stretch of the imagination to call that a high mountain lake, lol.

Probably the best video you have done. I really enjoyed this one. Beautiful country and the fish were amazing. Thank you!!
That salamander. Wow !!!! Never seen that before in my life. The Half-Arse fly looks to be a reversed Red Tag.
Excellent

Sounds like a blast 👍
Fishing 🎣 out west is on my bucket 🪣 list. Enjoyed 😀
I’m very lucky to live in the interior of BC. Very spoiled fishing high elevation lakes for 10lbs rainbows on the fly!
Great video, Mark! Congrats on you double! Beautiful fish!
That was fun!
Appreciate the video!
good
Awesome video! What reel are you using if may I ask. Thx.
I think this is probably my best Idaho fly fishing video ! Thanks for making g such a gem.
did I hear you say "fur" in a wooly bugger
I say The New Fly Fisher owes it to themselves to cut an Idaho film on the St. Joe above Avery. It's not like you'll be blowing the secret.
It used to be good. It’s been wrecked by mudslides and pollution. Areas around Yellowstone are far better.

Good suggestion and we will for the future whenever possible. Thanks for the feedback

So trying up some salamander flies I guess too... Ha! Crazy, I always wondered if that'd be wise
More alpine lakes please!
If you had to choose between Idaho or Wyoming, witch one would you choose to fish?
Idaho. More places, access and less color in water after rIn.
Awesome video, glad you got to enjoy your long awaited alpine lake trout experience!
What time of the year did you visit this area?
December through March is usually the peak
REALLY!!!!! you brought a drone,WOW, not cool

A lot of alpine lakes were stocked at one point in time. The same way ranbows were stocked in a lot of rivers at one point in time.
They stock most of them as alevin dude those fish wouldn't have ever been man fed in there life
They stock most the high mountain lakes in Oregon every 3-5 years with fingerlings. If the adipose is clipped it was stocked with larger trout.
I wonder why our sport is know for its snobby, elitist attitude?
They stock high alpine lakes in Montana, too. You could talk to a fish and game warden and learn before showing off how uninformed you are
Quite a few trees to be an alpine lake but ok.
