    Greg Kovacs was one of the most hardcore bodybuilders to ever walk the face of the earth. He had some serious superhuman strength. Rest in Peace Dude.

      All I ever saw him doug was smith and hammer stuff. Far from hardcore training. Then on smith he wasn’t near as strong as I was expecting. On top of that he got breathing heavy from doing curls. He did take a lot of drugs and eat a lot of food so maybe that’s hardcore

    For a while in i was fortunate to train in the same gym as Mr. Kovacs. It was 1991 in St. Catharines Ontario and Greg was training every day at Fulton Fitness. Whenever he was there while i was i mostly forgot about training and just became jaw dropped by his size and strength. I witnessed Greg grab the 200 lbs dumbells and do flat press with them ( thats a total of 400 lbs) gezzzzzz!!!! . Use to stare at his massive calves with my training partner and say " what the hell are those " .

    Greg kovacs was a genius, creator of the protein shake station and in minute 4:21 we can observe how he could accommodate the dumbells using 3 forms: 1.-bicep curl, 2.- chest press free weight and 3.-flyes.
    Conclusion, he was a bodybuilding genius.

      @camsfitness1745 5 лет назад +4

      You gotta realize this dude in the off season would always get up to 420 lbs, and during competition was at 340 about. So that's a lot of weight and stress for the heart to handle.
      Let's not forget the massive steroids, growth hormones, and insulin.

    • @billj4525
      @billj4525 5 месяцев назад

      @@camsfitness1745 Yeah the steroids alone probably would have killed him and then you add that weight he was all the time. I'm not surprised he died young. It's unfortunate though. Had he shrunk down considerably and stopped the steroids maybe he would have been okay.

    • @billj4525
      @billj4525 5 месяцев назад

      Not every big guy has high blood pressure though, although it is common. If you do have, then you should take a medication for it in my opinion.

    • @camsfitness1745
      @camsfitness1745 5 месяцев назад

      @billj4525 Absolutely. Steroids definitely were a huge part in his death along with being so big. Being 300 plus lbs of muscle puts so much stress on your heart. Yeah, had he stopped and cut his weight down a couple years earlier he might still be alive but would've had to be on trt the rest of his life. That's why people should really think about thing before take Steroids.
      If you're not competing in any sport, especially a sport like a physique contest or bodybuilding, then there's no reason to start taking them. Not to mention if you go down that line that's something most are gonna have to be on for the rest of their lives.

      Sorry but that's some exaggeration. Ronnie managed to row 495(video) for 10 reps with full momentum. His shoulder press was 315 for 12 reps and with db, 160*2. Also that leg press was 2300.

      Ronnie is much stronger than kovacs. I read where kovacs did all this weight for this high number of reps. Than I saw this video and 5 plates in smith incline was not really easy for him. He got like 6 but assited. I don’t him even finishing a Ronnie Colemen workout. Greg was tall and big so he towered over people. I’ve seen Ronnie and Greg in person at their biggest and Ronnie is much more impressive and much bigger muscles.

      The only reason Greg kovacs isn't seen as impressive as Ronnie is because people dispute whether his lifts acts happened, I think he just failed to mention that they were on a Smith machine. If the 700 bench was actually raw and not on a Smith, it would blow Ronnie's feats out the water

      Not a surprise given the amount of juice he was on. Also being 400 pounds most of his life didn't help. Sad he died so young though. He should have started downsizing in his early 40's, and maybe he would have been okay.
