Yes I just typed in Phoenix Oscar and was shocked to learn he didn't win. Seems like he's that good that it sparks the performance of his opposite co stars that they win the Oscar
i personally think joaquin deserved an oscar for his superb performance in this movie, and i think his acting complmented the work of Reese.. although she was herself really good
I only recently watched the film for the first time and it is undoubtedly FANTASTIC! Reese was incredible, but Joaquin was simply phenomenal! Im extremely happy he has his Oscar now, very well deserved for his role in Joker, however he should have won it for this film too! He was breathtaking. im pretty surprised Reese won but not him. His role was far more complex and (my personal bias aside because I am in love with Joaquin) he was so authentic and mind blowing in his performance. Its been like 14 years but im still upset he didn't win.
If you have any doubts about the validity of Reese's win, watch her in her film debut The Man in the Moon or any of her other films, namely Election. She's a highly gifted actress...and she was from the very beginning of her career.
@@zydration3538where did they say that? they’re saying for people who argue she wasn’t deserving, she was, and her talent is strikingly clear in this film as well as others like Election.
why are we so focused on Joaquin here when 1) this is Reese’s moment and 2) he was also a nominee, and there’s a separate video showcasing the Lead Actor performances that year.
Reese was as good as Joaquin, let’s talk about HER, she is a wonderful actress and her speech was brilliant, there are so many wonderful videos to watch on RUclips with the amazing June Carter and Johnny Cash, don’t miss them ...
Reese is a true beautiful woman inside and out and the kindest heart towards those around her. So happy she was recognized for the role of June Carter Cash! Congratulations holds true today for all her incredible work.
I do love that they played I Walk the LIne in the background as she walked up to the stage, and that the first people she mentioned in her speech were John and June
when this movie came out I was five years old now I’m 23 and I want to thank Joaquin Phoenix for what he showed me as a little kid on the screen he made me really think he’s the real Johnny Cash. Till my daddy one day finally said “he was just an actor playing johnny” I think I was around six at the time he finally told me that performance will leave me always and forever so grateful for Joaquin Phoenix in my life because I’m telling you right now he changed my life.
What a great actor he has always pushed the normal barriers.Hes a real artist and has also has inspired people. For people no matter who they are or what their situation or background they they come from can give back and achieve something that is really important for themselves and others.
Yikes at 90% of the comments talking about how Joaquin was robbed of best actor (which he definitely could have been), but you need to have Reese take this spotlight. Don't rob her of her accomplishment.
Y’all aren’t being that rational and nice in the comments here...this video is about Reese winning the Oscar in the category for BEST ACTRESS. So whether or not you believe Joaquin Phoenix should have won, that doesn’t matter for this video. They were not in the same category, and it was 14 years ago. Let’s actually use the comments to praise Reese for her brilliant performance and HER award!
Her acting was good but she failed to convey the personality, mannerisms, and even singing voice and speaking cadence of June Carter. However the woman who played June's mother had Mother Maybelle Carter down so perfect that she seemed like the real thing.
June Carter did matter, probably more than she realised. Because when she died, a part of Johnny Cash died with her, and it was only a few months after her death he left this earth. He had been battling health problems, but many believe he died of a broken heart.
She was great but I'm still confused as to how she won for Walk the Line but Joaquin did not. He was better. No offence to Reese. It's just the God honest truth.
Well who was he up against that year? Personally I thought Leonardo DiCaprio was better than Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but Leonardo had a tougher category (Best Actor) than Brad did (Supporting). Ironically Joaquin beat Leo as the Joker (so well deserved).
Both are awesome. Incredible, stunning performance. Congrats Reese, She definetely worth it. Sutch a unbelievable movie. One of my all time favorites. Amazing couple.
J Gorg, I thought it was hilarious that Reese used the phrase “ real woman” three times in her speech knowing F. Huffman plaid a transgender 😂 Sad thing is no woman would be able to play that role today with out being canceled for stealing the role from a real transgender. Remember Scarlet Johansen was cast as a transgender until the LBGQT mafia came after her👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿
All those people who are saying Phoenix should have won, have you people seen Capote?? Philip Seymour Hoffman gave a performance the Oscar was made for. He had no competition that year. In fact, he would've won any other year. P.S. Phoenix was amazing in Walk the Line.
I love Johnny Cash and Wakl the line was a great movie on his life Reese did earn her award Joaquin Phoenix got robed of his cause that movie was nothing with out him.
People in the comment section mentioning Joaquin like they were competing for the same Oscar...Reese is EXCEPTIONAL people!! She has done amazing things in Election, Freeway, Legally Blond even. She is a gem and deserved this.
Its 13 years later and I'm still physically hurt that Joaquin Phoenix didn't win the Oscar.
It's been 12 year's dumbass
Yes I just typed in Phoenix Oscar and was shocked to learn he didn't win. Seems like he's that good that it sparks the performance of his opposite co stars that they win the Oscar
2020 might finally be his year #joker 🤞🏼
glueley I haven’t seen Capote but I would have picked Heath Ledger over Joaquin Phoenix.
Its on the way my friend
Hopefully the academy will finally give Joaquin an oscar for his performance in Joker!
Yesssss
Yes a thousand times over
Of course 👏 😍
They will. Although the movie is sickening to the core.
I really hope so. He won the golden globes, nominated for bafta and I hope he win... Because it's long due and he deserves it so much!!! ❤❤
phoenix should have won best actor
Over Philip Seymour Hoffman in Capote? Not even close.
lol just kidding
Agreed,He did an amazing job!!.
I agree he should have won. He did an amazing job
A B
Especially for the movie Her
Reese and Joaquin made June & Cash still alive, thanks both of them
I loved how one of Johnny Cashs kids produced the movie
Joaquin made Cash come alive. Reese was not really doing June.
i personally think joaquin deserved an oscar for his superb performance in this movie, and i think his acting complmented the work of Reese.. although she was herself really good
FFS , this is BEST ACTRESS VIDEO !!!
I just saw Walk the Line today and I can't believe that Joaquin didn't win an Oscar for that performance, it was mindblowing!
Where's Kanye when you need him. *JOAQUIN HAD ONE OF THE BEST MALE PERFORMANCE OF ALL TIME*
Hahahaja lol. Bro!!!
So did his late brother River in My own private Idaho, and Running on empty ( which he was nominated for an Oscar.)
Trueee lol
🤣 🤣 🤣 You made my day!!
Vena, I physically LOL'd at this comment!
How did he not win for best actor? He was outstanding.
You may disagree with it but walk the line is the most memorable of these movies!
Lustforchanel I have seen it over 20 times. I LOVE IT. THEY BOTH SHOULDVE WON!
I only recently watched the film for the first time and it is undoubtedly FANTASTIC! Reese was incredible, but Joaquin was simply phenomenal! This movie was phenomenal. Everyone deserved to win.
She was cool, really, but dam J needed that win too.
nah. he was really nothing like johnny cash. didn't deserve an award.
He DID deserve the award. He was perfect as Cash.
You are either trolling or didn't watch the fucking movie. Joaquin played Cash like a champion.
Nick R are you high?

She should have Won for MOTM
I didn't realize all of those performances were nominated at one ceremony.
@@zydration3538where did they say that? they’re saying for people who argue she wasn’t deserving, she was, and her talent is strikingly clear in this film as well as others like Election.

She deserved to get it as much as he did. And try not to take that away from her.
So sweet she is 💟💗
Phoenix you're a WINNER to us!!!
Joaquin Phoenix shoulda been awarded the oscar ages ago. HIS TALENT IS OUT OF THIS WORLD.
@R g Well he got it.
THIS IS BEST ACTRESS VIDEO !!!
why are we so focused on Joaquin here when 1) this is Reese’s moment and 2) he was also a nominee, and there’s a separate video showcasing the Lead Actor performances that year.

Those two things resonated with me too Jeremy
What a sweet speech, you can tell she was being genuine.
A sincere speech and she deserved that Oscar.
Phoenix was ahead of his time as an actor, his acting methods blew way over peoples heads. I’m sure he was so glad his colleague got the W tho.
She was great but he was beyond incredible. I dont understand why Joaquin didnt win but look at him beaming 💌
That was an actual heart felt, adorable, loving tribute. ..very classy!
They should have shown the scene where she was the throwing beer bottles at them lol. That was my favorite scene
Mine was where the pointed the shotgun at the dealer
She had pretty good aim that's for sure.

i agree Joaquin should have won best actor for walk the line also
Brad Dollahite jaa
God yah he should of
She sure looked beautiful and her dress was just gorgeous!!
Such a beautiful speech from beautiful, gifted actress, Reese Witherspoon.
What a great actor he has always pushed the normal barriers.Hes a real artist and has also has inspired people. For people no matter who they are or what their situation or background they they come from can give back and achieve something that is really important for themselves and others.
One of the best speeches at the Academy Awards.
Yikes at 90% of the comments talking about how Joaquin was robbed of best actor (which he definitely could have been), but you need to have Reese take this spotlight. Don't rob her of her accomplishment.
They’re so annoying
Keira Knightley's performance in Pride and Prejudice was so good but Witherspoon gave the best performance of her career as June Carter.

Agreed. But comment sections are about as educated and rational as a 4th grader.
Someone's got their self appointed comment police badge on...
THANK YOU
Her acting was good but she failed to convey the personality, mannerisms, and even singing voice and speaking cadence of June Carter. However the woman who played June's mother had Mother Maybelle Carter down so perfect that she seemed like the real thing.
That was a GREAT speech 💛
"I'm just trying to matter" 💕
June Carter did matter, probably more than she realised. Because when she died, a part of Johnny Cash died with her, and it was only a few months after her death he left this earth. He had been battling health problems, but many believe he died of a broken heart.

He cheated in the Gladiator. That's why he didn't win.
PALIN SMITH 😂
Well who was he up against that year? Personally I thought Leonardo DiCaprio was better than Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but Leonardo had a tougher category (Best Actor) than Brad did (Supporting). Ironically Joaquin beat Leo as the Joker (so well deserved).
Joaquin and Reese were not in the same category. So it doesn't matter if he was better. They were not competing against each other.
@@jonathanblaze1648 You're right actually. Two years later I think Joaquin's category was much tougher. Philip Seymour Hoffman was magic in Capote.
Still bewildered with this win, but she actually did well in the movie. Maybe because people related with her bringing June Carter to life
Joaquin will get his oscar this year finally.
Reese gave June Carter a justice! She is great in this film
Karl Vincent yeah she is beautiful in the film and of course real life as well.
I really love her! But basd on their performances Felicity did better.
Kiera was the best that year. Just my belief,
Ok, and ima let you finish... but Joaquin WAS Johnny Cash.
she is a wonderful woman she was amazing in the movie and so was joaquin
Both are awesome. Incredible, stunning performance. Congrats Reese, She definetely worth it. Sutch a unbelievable movie. One of my all time favorites. Amazing couple.
She is soooo beautiful! Such a gorgeous and genuine person.
WOW SHES SO AWESOME. actually put a tear to my eye. her heart is of gold. i love this woman.
They Was Awesome They Should Have They Both 🏆
She's fantastic and so loveable.
She's beautiful! Love her performance and she deserved her Oscar
Joaquin Phoenix deserved it too
Reese was really a supporting character. Keira Knightly carried Pride and Prejudice and was amazing in it.
7.5M views I agree
I agree
yeah but she was the lead FEMALE character or was there another more important female character in the movie?
Reese Witherspoon is extremely classy!
This young woman is a breath of fresh air. Thank you and greetings from France.
She deserved this award she did a great job and brought out the true essence of June Carter Cash.
Joaquin was screwed by the academy this year so he had to play even more difficult rules like the Joker to be reconsidered. What an unfair industry.
Lovely speech by Reese. She speaks well and her words resonate. English teacher here. hahah. Reese, you have my approval.
she deserved the award : wonderful performance.
Lol I saw this movie, and she pretty much won the award as soon as she said, "Because you're drunk."
I liked the part where June finally says yes to Johnny's proposal, or, as it's said in the film: "Alright!"
Congratulations reese Witherspoon you did a wonderful job as portraying JUNE Carter CASH IN WALK THE LINE LOVE BLANCA ALEX
Beautiful speech from a beautiful actress.Congrats
It is funny to look back at these award shows and see them thanking their spouses and know that they would end up splitting up.
She practically robbed that award to Felicity Hoffman 🤦🏽

Reese has such a great voice!

wow... reading these comments, i didn't know Phoenix didn't get an oscar for his performance.
Total sham imo.
She won coz shes its wore joaquin the number 1 underrated actor in the world
If this were 2016 she would have won for Best Supporting Actress
@Roxanne Tosini she won SAG over Felicity. Even Critic choice award agreed with her win
@@screenactorsguilable felicity huffman won the golden globe tho

Reese was supporting. Felicity Huffman BLEW her away.
How can Glenn close not have an Oscar?
Reeses is such a lady. She did a good job in that role. Not easy to play a real person.
aww I wish her and ryan phillippe were still together they made such a cute couple
Finally Joaquin has an Oscar! Damn that took too long.
Reese Witherspoon is a Kool name
For an actress
She spoke very eloquently and definitely deserves the win for her performance just as much as Joaquin. So y’all can shut up now. 😊
I loe this movie so much, it has much soul !!!
It made me want to listen to Johnny Cash's music.
