    The clarity is better on the S2 and dramatically better on the R2. The R2 is also playing lower than the other two, but just as high. The R2 costs over twice as much as the S2 and it shows.

    Not sure if I missed it but is this a high res audio song, and also is the phone capable of high res? Not to mention the audio player and whatever the equipment between the phone and speakers. In all 3 models I can hear a distortion in the high end. The S series use silkdome and don’t normally screech but I’ve found the R’s to do it in some installs.
    Not knocking the video. Thanks for the comparison as it helps us buyers make choices without having to buy them! Also not everyone may be using all high res gear so this would also be helpful for a general setup!

    I have the S S65C and plays loud without distortion, using a focal 100watt rms per channel. What amp did you use and how many? watts.

    Is it fair to say the S2 is more efficient so if just driving off the head unit without an amp, a better choice then the R2?

    I wanted the R2 6.5 coaxials in my truck, but only pushing 50 watts per channel so was worried about them being underpowered, opted to go with the S2 since they were a better match with my output. May eventually go with a more powerful 4 channel amp and upgrade to R2 components instead of coaxials

    Were these played with the tweeters? If not this is an unfair comparison as a lot of the "clarity" could just be the woofer not rolling off the highs in the same spot.

    • @SimplyTrashed
      @SimplyTrashed 7 месяцев назад

      But that’s kinda the direct point of this comparison, clarity w/o a tweeter.

    • @stimpsonjcat26
      @stimpsonjcat26 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@SimplyTrashed You are missing the point of my comment. You cannot compare two drivers clarity if they don't have the same frequency response. The only way you could compare them like this is if you eq them to the same exact frequency response.
      Also you really need to compare them in the frequency band they are intended to be used in. One driver might have better clarity overall but the other driver might have more clarity in the frequency band it is actually used for.

      @@stimpsonjcat26 This whole "test" is bullshit, speakers will sound different in any car.
      These might sound great in one car, and horrible in another.

    Great video right up until you tried to demonstrate the audio by recording the sound off your phone. Get quality mic. Leave it in one place. Don’t use your phone mic.

    All this shows is effectively the upper frequency limit of the bass drivers. These are designed as part of a system, with a crossover and tweeter.
    This is like choosing a sports car based on redline and little else.

  • @bobadingo

    Fiberglass cloth cones on the r-series will not last very long if you push them hard!!
    In this test he is using his iPhone or Android as signal which is nothing but Distortion to begin with so this is a completely erroneous test and is subjective to The Listener only.. .

    • @alejandromanzano3779
      @alejandromanzano3779 4 месяца назад

      Well iPhone and Android is what people most likely will be playing music on. Also "push them hard" makes no sense. They come with a passive crossover as long as you feed them their required watts they'll be good, and if not, there's the warranty

    The car and the install makes the biggest difference, not the speaker.

    All sound garbage, harmonic distortion. Either your source is garbage.
