Martha’s obsessive behaviour was actually explained in the ending where in one of the voice notes, she said she would hold on to a baby reindeer toy whenever her parents were fighting. Hence, why she thinks Donny is her baby reindeer in person.
Glad someone said it, was waiting for him to mention that part in the video. Was actually a pretty sad part.

Martha's actor was INCREDIBLE, i was really uncomfortable for most of the show but i couldn't stop watching, it was honestly hard not binging it. It was a weird state of being uncomfortable and in awe at the same time because she was so immersive yet i was still admiring how good of an actor she is at the same time

I haven’t watched the show but him getting that free drink at his lowest point and that look he gives it feels like he understands Martha something he’s been trying to understand for most of the show
during that scene, he was beating himself up about what happened to himself, wondering if its his fault for even offering her a free drink. When he was given a drink by a complete stranger, he realized it was never his fault and he was only being human. It helped NOT sympathize with Martha because what she did was NOT human.

As someone with similar experiences to what happened to Richard, this show gave me something so strong I could relate to, I didn't think it was possible. It was hard to watch, but I was glad I did in the end and I hope it can help more people.

As someone who was in a similar relationship where someone was obsessed with me, I ended up becoming obsessed over them. It was unhealthy, but they sort of drag you down into the same depths they are in where you start obsessing over them no matter how unhealthy everything was
I second this. At the end of my relationship with a person who heavily suffered from borderline PD, I had almost the same self-destructive habits and insecurities as them. A year later it seems like a fever dream.
@neotronextrem They had the same thing but along with a lot of other mental disorders mixed together. At first, it was nice having someone obsessed with me since I grew up never being that special to someone, but with time, their obsession eats at you and drags you down until you become them

Richard's life story was very similar to my own unfortunately, aspiring author, exploring my sexuality, trying drugs, being drugged, being abused, attempting suicide multiple times r*ped etc. I had a lot of similar experiences to him unfortunately and yet the beat I ended up missing was parents who could immediately empathize with me, my mother got mad at me when I confessed as if what I was doing was incestuous by 'talking about my sex life' my grandmother treated it like a 'learning lesson' and any man in my family had nothing to say to me. I've had no one to really help me with this except my girlfriend these days but I'm still living with my grandparents at 21, I too have been taking up a project about my life, it's actually a cosmic horror mythology series as a big passion of mine that got me out of my depression was science. I wanted to take the ideas of taking major ideas in science and life and represent them as gods including things such as Quantum mechanics, neuroscience, psychology, anatomy, astrology and including some of my own personal beliefs I've developed over the years. Personally I hope that my series can garner as much success as Richard's especially with how many years I've been working on it, as it has often grown and change with myself
