For me this is the best version of mercy seat. I like the doublebass, the second voice of MH on chorus, the keyboards and percussion. And the strong interpretation from NC made an acoustic version dark as a night in the woods
Nick is a great song writer with an average voice. But it is unforgivable that the town of his birth refuses to recognise his achievements with even the simplest plaque. Instead the main street is full of fake sheep. Shape up Warracknabeal in western Victoria.
Nick may be having trouble w fold back? He sounds slightly flat at times.Less drthan the record. But it's spontaneous with other players he seemed uncomfortable as well.
I'm not sure if you mean just a flat performance or what I notice that he's quite off key on many of his songs. Don't get me wrong, I love Nick Cave, and his voice is great, so it's strange that he is off key so often.
i all for live performances but it always annoys me how some lyrics change ever so slightly, given enough time itll be like playing a game of telephone with yourself. lol

Agreed - absolutely amazing! Can't believe how well the congas work - played brilliantly as well
@@yetiite ermmmm, this is definitely MY favourite ;)
best thing about artists like Nick Cave: they don’t try to sound like anybody else (Michael Gira, Alan Vega, etc.)
One of the best recordings of this song anywhere. The three session players are all heavy hitters in their own rights too…
Mick Harvey was the Bad Seeds... Without him it's...well something else.
Mick Harvey the OG. Been there from day one
Him and Blixa gave Bad Seeds a peculiar flavour, so far from the point they are now
Bad seeds with George Vjestica and Martyn Casey, Warren Ellis, Carly Paradis, Jim Sclavonous and Larry Mullins is still the best...
Absolutely.
Great performance!
great version, i love the percussion
Wow...

Not a bad performance considering the average sound/audio set up

he is not off key, he is just singing in post punk style and untrained ear thinks it's off key ;-)
RIGHT HE WAS OF KEY WHO CARES.? PENGUINS?
@@francoissalemi4895 Bob Dylan may be Care, he Always sings off keys as his method.
I think the band is off key not nick
He sings flat, out of tune and this range is quite limited. IMO, his style can be resumed as expression>perfection
