Many thanks to you! QUICK DISCLAIMER to railfanners: most honkings in scenes where the train goes to stations are removed to provide minimum fan trip vibes. This is also used for a school project; feedback is welcomed. The beginning images were also taken by me.
This brought back memories. I lived in the Rockaways for 33 years. I became a conductor in 1983. The first run I had was working for 3 nights on the overnight working on the Round Robin in the Rockaways'. The only reason I got this job was because this was in the winter. I couldn't touch it in the summer. Oh well. I was surprised to see that one destination sign box had IRT destinations. Another one didn't have any. If Don Harold was still around. He wouldn't let it go out. Oh well. Many thanks for this..
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing! The oldest rolling stock you had dealt was the R10s. Wow, what a difference with the R44/46s, the current oldest. The reason why you saw IRT destination rollsigns is that movie crews sometimes request the R1-9s with their setting based on a historical time. The other one didn’t have any because I heard that the older rollsigns on almost every NYTM’s R1-9 cars had decayed and required a replacement (hence you see why other cars had a different side destination rollsign font).
@@jassy_235 I hated the R10's. Besides having to go between the cars to open and close the doors, I was nervous about losing my key to turn on and turn off the lights again because it was outside the car. Fortunately I had 27's,32's,40's, 42's and 44's. I almost got married to a woman I met on the A train. Her father was an usher for Amtrak. Sadly it didn't happen. I had the opportunity to work on the JFK EXPRESS. But, it was a commuter train for the people who lived in Howard Beach! After the rush hour the train was empty. That's the story.
I don’t understand this hating on the R10s. It seems like everyone in this freaking agency doesn’t appreciate this wonderful rolling stock. The R32s are terrible not only because of the GOH but because of all this inner city scum foaming on it, an enthusiasm that has unfortunately infected the transit museum and in fact this whole CLUELESS agency at the MTA. If you like the R32s, then it’s a GOOD THING you missed out on that woman!
Many thanks to you!
