The R46 subway cars have so many unique door chimes that I will greatly miss when they retire including fast, single noted, high pitched, low pitched/deep (my favorite), Pre-GOH, quiet, and sometimes none. Excellent video.
Ok seriously, do trains really need to retire? They run on electric rails , can companies just make tools specifically for them ? I personally think a train can last for hundreds of years , am I wrong?

The MTA door chime for R46 and R68 are so iconic, but they should’ve stayed there, but this door chime is still iconic.

No they’re still running, and no they have about 10 years to go if they’re going to catch the R32 (longest serving R32s ran for 58 years).
