-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... - Кино
Here come the hundreds of comments about missing the nasty, gritty ending of the song. Totally changes the feel of the whole track. You have to revisit this one!
I didn't know there was a short version. Could be because the long version has that word in it, without it though, the entire song is different.
Yes, I wrote one of them. Maybe Andy and Alex can review the whole Innervisions album.
Comment #3. Yes you have to redo with the long version. It tells a story, and yes it does have the n-word. This was released as a single at the time and it charted at #8 on the pop charts. They had to cut the word out back in 1973..
May I suggest a full album reaction lads?? From 2013, Arctic Monkeys, AM. It’s sensationally S~Tier and I’m willing to bet the “modern music is terrible” sceptics on the channel will love it. 💜
@@crazyelf62 maybe that cut was a local censor. I had never heard anything but the uncut hardcore version on radio.
STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN...Stevie Wonder & SRV were close friends...Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne sang Amazing Grace at SRV's funeral. Please check out Bonnie Raitt singing I Can't Make You Love Me!!! Side note, Bonnie is one of the best slide guitar players ever.
She killed on this one! Runaway prob my 2nd fav.
I am a big scary old man. I can't count the tears I have cried to Bonnie's sad ballads. She is great at upbeat songs and on guitar too.
Yeah dude, first one I thought of...
Prince did a good version too. Would love to see Bonnie’s on this channel 🔥🔥🔥. 🤪
Very possibly one of the most beautiful & saddest songs ever recorded. But you are right- they need to check out her rockers too!
Don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but Stevie played every single instrument on this track. The man is a serious musical genius.
His drumming is beyond 🙏
My favorite drummer ever
Stevie plays every single instrument for most, if not all his recordings. Stevie Winwood does the same
Everything Stevie Wonder did in the 70’s were masterpieces.
I saw him in concert back in the late 70's . . . it was a party.
He was 23 years old when this was released. HE PLAYED ALL THE INSTRUMENTS ON 7 OF THE 9 TRACKS. INCLUDING THIS ONE - "Stevie Wonder - lead vocal, background vocals, Fender Rhodes electric piano, drums, Moog bass, T.O.N.T.O. synthesizer, handclaps"
Lets get the facts correct, he didn't play TONTO that was the two guys who invented it. It wasn't played, it was programmed and they never got the credit they deserved,as they re-invent the Stevie Wonder sound when he was in the doldrums with his music.
@@hyramhackenbacker3953 You're trying to school somebody on "the facts?" You don't know what you're talking about. The two guys who associate-produced had an act known as _Tonto's Expanding Head Band,_ not _TONTO._ Cecil's modular synth was absolutely called _TONTO._ And "programming" back then, in synthesis meant simply coming up with the timbres as much as it ever did "using sequencing." The TONTO synth was designed to be played live. Synthesizers were thought of as "music computers" back then, and sometimes even branded as that. But those parts were definitely played.
@@rollomaughfling380 Thanks for clarification as this idiot would had people thinking it was a music sequencer like in today's sterile music he definitely confused programming of sounds with actually playing something!! what an idiot!! back then the sequence referred to when programming a synth you send a sound through multiple filters and modulators that was what they meant by sequence programming
The full version of "Living for the City" is as S tier as you'll ever get. Please listen again, even if you don't do a formal reaction video. You will Not be disappointed.
Agreed. Swing and a miss on this one, guys. Do the full version if you want the "S Tier" version. This is some shortened radio version or something. Doesn't even contain the most important parts of the song.
What the hell guys?!! Where's the rest of the song? Please, please, please!!!
Yes, need to hear “the rest of the story” on the album version....
definitely need a do-over on this one.
The only thing I disagree with is, that I hope that Andy & Alex DO make a second formal reaction video. I would love to see their reaction to what they missed first time around, and how the second half changed and defined the true meaning of this S tier magnum opus.
NO NO NO NO NO!!!! Get the uncut version, you can't understand what the song's really about without it. I was so psyched that you were finally getting to this -- but no, dudes, a do-over is a MUST. Trust me, there's NOTHING HOPEFUL about how this guy winds up. Please, seriously. The full song is everything.
Happy to make below-poverty wages? No. Sorry, but NO. Listen to the REAL ENDING. 🔥🔥 Still love you. Just schooling. 🤪
100%. A very different energy and message. DO OVER PLEASE!!
Stevie Wonder is a Universal Treasure! We are lucky to live in the time of Wonder.
Stevie Wonder helped define soul music. He had contributed more to music before he'd reached adulthood than Stevie Nicks has achieved in her entire career.
Stevie Nicks, never cared for that warbly tone in her voice.
I prefer Wonder over Nicks but your comment is ridiculous...
Yeah Stevie Ray Vaughan was first to come to mind.
Stevie Ray playing with Albert King!
I agree my guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SRV was all I wanted to comment..then Stevie Nicks. Love her lol
I can't believe you guys did the cut version. The long one has a whole other section where the guy gets busted literally holding the bag for someone else, and then the last verse is sung so gritty it makes your hair stand up.
Yes indeed. His vocals get downright nasty and gritty on the album versiin.
yeah I got my hopes up sadly, wish they did the original
Yeah, whole album "Innervisions".
Total bummer. The album version’s last verse is *everything*.
If Stevie Wilinder didn't exist life wouldn't be worth a lot, just when I thought you couldn't go higher in my respect and love, you did, with what you said about him. 💕💕
Here are a few black artists that I recommend that I don't think you've ever reacted to, with a suggested song for each:
Sly & the Family Stone - Thank You
Al Green - Let's Stay Together
Curtis Mayfield - Superfly
James Brown - Papa's Got a Brand New Bag
Otis Redding - Try a Little Tenderness
Earth, Wind & Fire - Shining Star
Smokey Robinson & the Miracles - Tears of a Clown
Excellent suggestion!
Gladys Knight & the Pips - Midnight Train to Georgia
Thank you is HUGE, same with papas got a brand new bag.
Last semester of university, as a petroleum geology major I took an option class in HISTORY OF FUNK. We just jammed out to all these songs, studied the artists and had to produce a funk song for the final project. A monumental class and memory I will cherish forever. Would not have discovered the beauty of many of the artists you mentioned. cheers
Don't forget Ray Charles!!! (Oh What a Beautiful Morning?!)
Cry to me- Solomon Burke
The First album I bought, when I was 11 years old. IMHO, Singularly the most gifted artist of my lifetime. Long Live Stevie Wonder🥰
Stevie not only wrote, arranged and produced this album, but played most if not all the instruments himself.
"New York! Just like I pictured it! Skyscrapers, and everything!"
"HEY, slick...."
This album is truly a masterpiece. Visions is one of my all time favorites from Stevie. A must listen.
You guys missed the Full Version!
The real message comes through in the last couple minutes.
Crucial
And so timely now as well. This song should be getting played every day in every city in America. Loudly.
Stevie Ray Vaughn!!!
I was screaming that too but was he a songwriter? I thought he was doing old blues tunes. Regardless, I'm with you sis! ✌️❤️
@@MagravatorMag he’s a songwriter and one of the greatest guitarists of all time ♥️
@@muriel2267 For real! Every time I hear Voodoo Chile I swear that it's Jimi. I'm sure Jimi would be proud and I miss them both.
SIR DUKE By STEVE ,, KICKS ASS 1976 ,, LOVE THE 70s
You guys NEED to do the full version of this song! This is the edited version!
I said it before and will keep saying it- Boogie On Reggae Woman!
This version is like listening to half a song. The long version is not to be missed.
I actually think this is the rare case where the single version is better. The middle part in the long version tells the story but I think it takes away the from the groove. Both are great. But I prefer the single version.
@@Crazywater1976 Have to agree. Cool though for the album.
@@Crazywater1976 but the best section of music is at the end, after the story.
The whole album is a masterpiece
Yes very true
All is Fair in Love❤️❤️❤️
@@pamnorris8954 exactly
My favorite Stevie album. Fire from start to finish.
As is Talking Book
ARGH! You GOT to do the full version. It's like a sneeze that never comes
Bill Withers: Use me Up, Grandma's hands. O'Jays: Money (best bass line intro ever!)
For The Love Of Money is stupendous. Great shout.
The phone call was from Stevie Ray Vaughn. He just called to say “screw you”. 😉
LOL
😂
Good one!
LMAO!
Oh my goodness, laughing so hard right now!!!!
Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Winwood, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN! There are no bad Stevies in rock.
Steven Tyler, too!
Steve Miller.
Steve Van Zandt
OK, but the MEME was STEVIE, not Steve.
Stevie Wright.
Stevie was one of the earliest experimenters witht the Moog.
Stevie Wonder is what I call another gift from God. I saw a black and white film ( as a kid in the sixties ) where his mom led him by the hand on stage and he began to sing....even back then I said " Oh my God " ! He"s another one of God's miracles !
Love this but...I hate to be that person...the album version has a crucial vignette that fleshes out the story. And it includes more bangin' grooves!!!! Nonetheless, glad you hit this tune fellas.
“If he didn’t exist the world wouldn’t be the same.” Huge understatement!
💞
Awww man......I was grinning the whole time anticipating the reaction to the spoken ending. Then it was the short version.....
"Tell me something good" by Rufus/Chaka Khan Written by Stevie. Early use of a talkbox. Sexiest song ever.
Yes! Great funk grind.
Yes, pleeeze!
Missed out the best bit.
This is the "radio friendly" version.
This whole album is fantastic.
Stevie is a genuine musical God.
I didn't know there was a Radio Edit version of this song ..too bad, you MUST listen to the complete song. The version you listened to is pretty much gutted of it's most dramatic/powerful part. This song came out in a very volatile time and this was Stevie's first strong overt commentaries on racism. This entire album Inner Vissions is an absolute masterpiece and really is best appreciated when listened to from start to finish. He was only 23 when he recorded this. Some folks might say songs in the key of life is his best... commercially it sold more when he was at that point a superstar. This album Inner Vissions has more to Say musically, melodically, lyrically and is an overall more concise work.
I have to agree with you. I love how bright and pure his vocal is on this song, especially through headphones.
In case no one mentioned this....Stevie Wonder - lead vocal, background vocals, Fender Rhodes electric piano, drums, Moog bass, T.O.N.T.O. synthesizer, handclaps
Stevie Wonder played everything on this track. Just as he did on Higher Ground.
You guys need to not only revisit this song (because you missed half the song which contains the most important part), but you need to listen to this entire album, one of Stevie's very best. Stevie had his gritty side but he also had his pretty, beautiful side. More than often however he is poignant. Remember also that Stevie played all if not most of the instruments on every cut of this album, as well as on his previous albums "Music Of My Mind" and "Talking Book". Some of the great songs on this album include "Too High", "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing", "Higher Ground", "Visions", and the beautiful "All In Love Is Fair". Every cut on this album is a gem. Stevie Wonder, America's greatest musician/composer of the R&B/R&R era.
Thanks, guys. You can’t go wrong with Stevie Wonder.
You really must listen to the longer version. There’s much more to the feel and meaning of this song.
Half a song?!!! There’s a whole story to it that you missed. And his voice changes to reflect it.
Note: Stevie is playing ALL the instruments on this.
Keep going with the musical journey. Don't get bogged down in one genre. Stevie really helped bring funk mainstream.
He did more than that. He opened up funk to white people and rock to black people. x
Epic of course but you should really do the long version. The brother goes to NYC and runs into all manner of hell. Very powerful, you got to get to check it out bros.
“New York, just like I pictured it.”
Gents, you should've read the lyrics to this song especially the part about the brother not being able to find a job because, "Cause where he lives they don't use colored people". Shows the harsh reality of life for many African-Americans that many songs in those days would stay clear of. Love, love, love Stevie Wonder! 😊
First time I've heard this song Cat but obvious to me the reason these people are struggling is because of their colour...
Keep a knocking ( but ya can't come in) little Richard . Banger!
This song is still true today. I live in Austin, Tx, and I was one years old when this song was released; however, I am living just enough for The City, “'Cause where he lives they don't use colored people
Living just enough, just enough for the city, yeah.”
This is my life up at 4:30am and return home at 5:00pm. My family is living just enough for They City.
Word in the industry is that Stevie was great to work with and he paid better than most others. Stevie is a powerhouse of a performer and an exceptional writer and arranger. He is top tier to say the very least. He kept Motown Records afloat for several years. If you were lucky enough to see him live, you would see one of the most energic and happy performers ever.
Stevie Wonder is not just a musical bad ass, he is also a serious social critic. Marvin Gaye "What's Going on" and Donny Hathaway "The Ghetto" are two other great social criticism songs from that era.
I will second this entire comment!
Dude the whole album What’s Going on is incredible (I have two copies of it on vinyl) but the song itself is absolutely amazing
Umm . . . Stevie's still around and making music, bro
Thumbs up for the Leon Russell Icon ! Have you ever seen the Ray Charles , Leon Russell and Willie Nelson video introduced by Woopi Goldberg " Song for You " ? I cannot watch it without tears rolling down my face.....awesome .
Gil Scott Heron's The Revolution Will Not be Televised in there
Stevie Wonder - what a freaking amazing vocalist! Unbelievable.
You guys gotta do "I Wish" & "Don't You Worry About a Thing" next!
Yes!! Now you know. We’ve been pleading: more Funk, more Soul, more R&B, Motown, Stax, Blues. More variation in artists (race, gender, nationality, etc.). YOU GUYS ARE DELIVERING! Stevie, Joni, Temptations, Sam Cooke, Santana, Cream, Rod, Robin Trower, yes yes yes!! Thanks.
What is it??? It’s a BANGER!!! THIS is why I sent the banger button. This right here!!! 🤪
Motown...yes, yes, yes!!!
Love me some classic rock but they have no idea what they're missing in not exposing themselves to the classic soul of the 60s and 70s. Many of whom inspired the rock and rollers they're reacting to now. They're really only getting half the story of the great music of this era.
@@flubblert Can I get an AMEN! Haha. Yes, Yes. We need the funk ... and the Soul, Blues, all of it. Thank you. The origins. Campaign hard. They’re catching up tho. Peace 🤪
@@lindakessler8768 Thank you. No study is complete without it. 🔥🤪
How about some Parliafunkadelament Thangs? Like "Flashlight," "Give Up he Funk (Tear the Roof Off the Sucka)." or "Atomic Dog!"
What Stevie was singing about. ain't nothing changed, it's a tragedy
Where do you live? In the 60s?
@@nancymjohnson I was indeed born in 1959, so I did live through the 60's/70's/80's etc, etc, and I can recall a whole bunch of it.
CANNOT miss the full version.
“A jury of your peers, having found you guilty...”
Come on, get in that cell...
Gentleman, gentleman, gentleman. Long version only. You did the single version. Heavens to Betsy (old boomer term).
Sly and the Family Stone would be a great choice for a band that mixes rock and groove.
And they were a multi-ethnic, bi-sexual band! (Wait, is "bi-sexual" the right word?)
Hall of Famers
When I saw this was the song, I couldn't click on it fast enough! The longer version changes into a whole other thing, very dramatic, and then it roars at the end!! (But I'm glad you covered even this version! It's good for your soul, lol!!)
Future songs should include Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On' (It's like he became a new artist from the "Heard It Through the Grapevine" days, a Beatle-esque shift) and any Sly and The Family Stone!
Great reaction Gents!! Watching the younger generations truly enjoy the music of my youth gives me hope for the planet!!!
One of the GREAT artists of our time .You guys are playing some great music.
How about some Sam & Dave? Hold On, I’m Comin’ 🔥❤️
Sam & Dave WERE The Blues Brothers! Backed by the Stax house band including brilliant guitarist Steve Cropper, who got writing credit on several of their songs. 'Hold On, I'm Coming' was written by THE Isaac Hayes and Dave Porter.
My friends and I would go absolutely berserk when 'Hold On' would come on the radio. Also 'I Thank You' and 'Soul Man'.
WRONG VERSION YOU HAVE TO DO AGAIN!!!! Theres a long version that makes it legendary
It’s obvious you guys are thirsty for great music and you have so much more great music out there waiting for you! Hey 70’s kids we were definitely blessed!
Describes an inner city family living right, doing the best they can... Respect!
Steve Winwood was already a star when he was still a teenager, and in those early days there were plenty of folks who called him Stevie Winwood, so you had it right after all. There are a lot more great Stevie Wonder songs, so keep on listening! Try "Sir Duke" and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours".
Listen to the full version. You will have a different perspective!
Every track off every album thru the 70's of Stevie was sublime
I’m so happy you guys reacted to this masterpiece! Stevie played everything on this track and his entire catalog is sick, he explores so many different genres, even on one album
Stevie Ray Vaughn!
Great song, should have been the longer version. The whole song changes in meaning and emotion.
When I think of the term Artist of the 70's Stevie should be in everyone's top ten.
Every single song on this album is superb. A full album reaction would be nice.
Sly and the Family Stone, I want to take you higher!
YESSSS - Love that song!
He's made great music for decades but Stevie was on an amazing run in the early to mid 70s. Just more evidence that the 70s was the best era for music.
We had his first albums from the 60s when he was really young - they're still mind blowing today.
" I would like more but I'm good where I'm at.." You are so right. Stevie is extolling the courage and strength of the real heroes of urban life, the intensely hard-working folks who don't complain and don't let their hard lives get them down...
"It's Way Too Groovy!" Loved your reaction. "Sir Duke", next.
Ya see guys, at the same time my generation was listening to all this amazing rock music you're reacting to now, we were all listening to the amazing original rhythm and blues and soul music of Motown, Stax, Decca Records et al. To say were were living in a musical nirvana for about 20 years is an understatement.
⬆️ What she said ⬆️.
Yes. I second that emotion!! Ha 🔥🔥🔥 🤪
Amen!
well said!
@@michelemichele3375 LOL!! We were on Cloud 9". LOL!!

I have been listening to Stevie Wonder since I was 6yrs. old, 64 now!!! Love his music and messages!!! You seriously need to listen to the long version of this song!!!!!!!! There is so much more to this song!!!!!!!!!!!!! Giddeeup!!!!
Steve Winwood was known as “Stevie” Winwood when he broke out as teen.
Spencer Davis Group right?
@@matthewdrake4385 Yep. I believe it was a play on "Little Stevie Wonder" who had his first hit when he was 13. "Little Stevie Winwood was 14 when he joined the Spencer Davis group!
Hey folks, how many remember years ago when Stevie hosted SNL? Who knew that Stevie Wonder was such a good comedian!!!!
Must do over. This is SW’s masterpiece.
Can't believe you missed the whole song! YOU BLEW IT with this one!
As everyone else said- listen to the longer cut with all the "sauce"- still gave you the thumbs up
I won't belabor the full version recommendation. I'll say that Inner Visions is probably the most underrated Stevie Wonder album. The entire thing is fricking incredible. I introduced it to my son when he was a teenager back in the 00s, and he stole the CD from my collection! I heard it blasting from his room for about 3 weeks while he taught himself the keyboard and guitar riffs.
I’m soooo glad you guys did this song ! I was 3rd grade when it came out and I fell in love with it . All over the radio and then we bought his album . I play this as loud as I can every time 💕!!!! And I agree , play the longer version and take a full listen
Why, WHY, WHY, did you not do the extended version??? A Hundred times more powerful!!
Can't wait till you listen to "You Haven't Done Nothin" and "I Wish". How about the "Songs In the Key of Life" album reaction?
And As!
@@jhamptonjr Yes, excellent song
I think they'd love ordinary pain, especially the second part.
Yes, I Wish is def next please., and go back in the day and listen to "For once in my Life,,",
@@sallybannister6224 Yes, some 60's Stevie is in order too.
A crime not to listen to the full track, it's amazing. The man is a GENIUS ❤❤❤❤
Your reactions are actually informative. I love seeing your generation discovering aspirational an inspirational music we grew up with in the 70s. Wish this talent would rebound again.
Stevie played all the instruments and did all the vocals on this track. ALL. 🤪
You guys have to hear the full album version. There is so much more to the story and two more verses where his voice changes to a more angry tone. He even sings, "I hope you hear inside my voice of sorrow and it motivates you to make a better tomorrow." Innervisions is a masterpiece album.
You guys always make me hear these iconic tracks anew... I was 11 yrs old when this was on the radio (as we say)... yes, you should be awed
Once you two rectify this here edited song situation, you're ready For James Brown's "Cold Sweat".
Sly and the Family Stone! Go with "Everyday People", "I Want to Take You Higher" "Thank You", or "Stand"
A feller recommended to me that we solidify our support around "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)", so I am trying to do my part.
"If You Want Me to Stay" as well. Possibly my favorite bass line ever.
Yes, yes, yes!
And “Dance to the Music!” 👏🏼
@@amandafaber9983 And "Hot Fun in the Summertime", which is a must-hear for me every year once the weather gets warm.
NOOOOOOO!!! Why isn’t this the long album version?? Usually y’all do the long version of every song, for the real ones. This is the radio edit 💔
I never even heard this version before! 😥
I thought they had leaned that lesson. Apparently not.
They surely did this on purpose... just listen to their "they are poor but a happy family" comment. Really???
@@matto9734 Of course they didn't do it on purpose. For crying out loud, they're just a couple of young guys on a musical journey to listen to songs that they've never heard before. How in the world are they supposed to know that the single version of a song released more than a quarter-century before they were born excised a gut-punch piece of social commentary from the album version?
@@gregsager2062 I doubt that they do not prepare their presentation in some way. Apart from that I really did not like their perception that a family has to live from lowest wages and is happy nonetheless... this song isabout opression and you can´t listen to Stevie Wonder w/o that context.
Stevie the funk master. His talent is off the scale.
His vocals on this track is absolutely fantastic!
Andy, you're right. The world would have been a darker place without his voice. ✌️❤️
You 100% have to do As by Stevie next! Definitely the full version too, that is a masterpiece.
WHATS HAPPENED TO THE LYRIC CHECK GUYS..... SERIOUSLY MISSING OUT BY NOT DOING IT. PLEASE BRING IT BACK.
Stay safe and I will stop shouting now..!!
Cool to see a younger generation enjoying this geniuses music
As many have mentioned, the album version is essential listening. The transition from this song to the next, Golden Lady, is one of my favorites in all of music
And "Golden Lady" is so different, but amazing too! Let's just say this whole album!
