    Stevie Wonder was a musical force of nature. This song was the title track from his 12th studio album, released in 1970 at the ripe old age of 20. He went on to dominate the 70s, winning the grammy for album of the year in 74, 75 and 77. In his grammy acceptance speech for album of the year in 76, Paul Simon quipped, "I'd really like to thank Stevie Wonder for not releasing an album this year."

    • @Azabaxe80
      @Azabaxe80 2 года назад +12

      I make it a lot simpler. There have been only three active prolific geniuses in pop music in the last 50 years (since 1970). Paul McCartney defaults into this category because there was just enough Beatle juice left in him at the beginning of the period. The second is Prince because, well, he was Prince. But by far, the most talented musician in this period, making consistently brilliant music, was Mr. Stevland H. Morris. A Wonder with capital letters indeed.

    Lennon captured his breaths in the vocal in a similar way on "Girl," from Rubber Soul. In that case, George Martin turned the gain on Lennon's mic up quite a bit to get the effect, so maybe Wonder did the same thing here.

    If y’all wanna hear a bad-ass bass, listen to the extended version of “I Was Made to Love Her” by Stevie Wonder. It’s from way back but James Jamerson’s bass is off the hook. Stevie has such an excellent catalog from the very beginning of his career onward. He’s in a class by himself.

A&A are unique among reaction videos in that they're able to have honest, genuine, reactions of enjoyment, just like non-musical ordinary folk, and then, they go ahead and discuss why the song works and pull it apart, like the musical pros that they are. Unique, that ability to enjoy music at two levels, with two separate sensibilities.

    I am 68 years old and I have been blessed to see almost every major musical act over the last 4 decades.
    I saw Stevie Wonder as the opening act for the Rolling Stones and he blew the roof off the arena when he opened with Superstition.....which was so new no one in the audience recognized it. So, so much talent in one human being. Acts I have seen live , very partial list: Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones , AC/DC, Prince, Moody Blues, Elton John, U2, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Yes, J.Geils Band, The Police ,Santana, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Tom Petty, The Eagles, Doobie Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart,. I was 15 years old and my first concert was James Brown sitting in the VIP section three rows from the stage . He was pure electricity, no cell phones, no big screens, the stage was elevated maybe three above the floor he was so close maybe 50 feet away from my seat. I am truly blessed as a music lover to have seen these live acts multiple times. We will never see such a vast array of musical talents such as these again . I thank you guys so much for introducing a younger audience to the music of my generation.
