THE TITANOMACHY: FIRST GODWAR ACT ONE - This video entails the beginning of the Titanomachy. A ten year war amongst the Titans and Olympians, different generations of Greek Gods. Chronos, the leader of the Titans and ruler of the universe was challenged by his children, Zeus and the Olympians. Very little is actually known about the Titans, as they were more a footnote to the gods of Greek Mythology. There was a poem dedicated the events of the Titanomachy, but it was lost to the sands of time, and so we have taken what we know to make this video. Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them. This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience. All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos. There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries. Only a few minutes in and this might be my favourite video on RUclips already… I have never met, digitally or otherwise, two souls that understand storytelling, beauty and the human spirit as well as you two, and I do not flatter when I say that. Something about the beginning of a pantheon, a world in the wake of its primordial humours enchants me to no end… especially of young beings and gods, before they become jaded or insular, setting out into a horizon of possibility and creation. I often think of the formation of a human mind in the same way, especially in childhood or after hitting rock bottom, and like to imagine the stories being similar or a microcosm of the human soul, which I do so hope exists as more than a pretty word. And you both do such a brilliant job of telling it! I’ve fluffed on nostalgically enough…. I’m at my own rock bottom now, I’m ashamed to say, in a mire of my own neglects and problems. Thank you so much for sharing your story and your perspective, and I sincerely hope that the passing of sand through the waist of the hourglass has provided you with time to heal, reassemble your world, and find a new light or at least the glimmer of hope. I too am attempting to soldier on, to rebuild better than I was before I too lost my Lightbringer, my guidestar, and found myself crashed upon the rocky shore of an island in Limbo under the cold mocking glare of unfamiliar stars. "She has risen in another hemisphere, or I have.", and I find myself confronted with a host of pale shades of my past selves that I had forgotten that I had forgotten; I must now integrate them and find a way off this rock and back to the land of the living for us all. You have my sympathy and empathy for your hardships, from one who knows them well. I particularly find myself in accord with your observations about the microcosm and macrocosm relationship of the epic narratives, the impact of harsh childhood experiences, and hitting rock bottom; it is rare to encounter another who thinks and speaks in such terms, and I hope that my acknowledgement provides you some encouragement and validation of your perspective, fully hoping that you and I are correct in our beliefs that we may find hope for our own stories within the lessons tendered by the gods and heroes of ages past. "As above, so below" ; "As without, so within", Hermetic principles for transmuting the world's venom into medicine through the Alchemy of esotericism and psychology. In that spirit, and lacking other hopes, I endeavor to distill the droplets of pain into the ink of healing, blessed by the kiss of the Seven bright Sisters and the occassional thin smile of Selene, her light casting long shadows in the Twilit mist from the stones standing here, unmarked with a name, projections of those exiles housed there wandering among them for decades, unseen and unheard. For them, and for others like them and like me, I try to hear their whispered memories and unspoken desires, and tattoo them on the page, on the sallow skin of my scarred soul, to absorb their essence into the blood and bone and flesh they should have shared so they can finally live in me. I certainly hope that you and I are right, my friend, because it is the only hope I have found, and I have wagered the remainder of my life on it, having no better options and no path back the way I came. I must rewrite the narrative of the past in the clear blue ink of truth on the chiseled point of a Raven quill , and finish the next chapters running along the rainbow-hued path beyond a horizon which my eyes cannot currently see, obscured in the clouds and mist. For that undertaking I will rely on the examples of the poets and lyricists of the ages, and the testimony and counsel of teachers like Carl G. Jung, and his students Robert A. Johnson, Joseph Campbell, and others who paved the way to the exploration and mapping of the depths of the mind. Each of us is born a fool and sent out on a hero's errand, with the cards hidden from our view but dealt against us - each of our paths takes us by a different route through the same story, but perhaps we can all take something from that of each other and those who came before to help us along the way. We, homosapien, have been around for 250,000 years, give or take. As depicted by the the Greek religion of 3,000 years ago, the gods of Olympus fought the titans, who ruled before them. Before that, the titans had outdone the primordial deities under the rule of Ouranos, who ruled before them. And so forth, and so forth. How far back do these lines of succession go? I wonder about those older stories of bygone divine wars for sacred supremacy, which would usher in a new hierarchy for a fledgling religion, but my imagination is all I have. We are such a creative species.
As far as I know it began with the primordial god Chaos, which was the darkness upon which the world would float, and in which Gaia arose. From there you know the story, as Gaia gave birth to and wed Ouranos. So life and the gods starts and ends with Gaia, and outside of whose lineage there is only the void eternal; Chaos. In my imaginings, without Gaia there would only be the cataclysms of plants smashing into eachother, stars exploding over millennia, no life or order or reason. Where Gaia comes from it never seems to be clear... she merely manifests, giving the sole purpose of life and living to the inert matter of Chaos. But then, we're talking about fitting ideas created before we had the modern concept of the universe in its vast, seemingly unending physical and metaphorical darkness.
Interestingly enough, The Bible also speaks of a "War in Heaven", A clash of the Gods sort of thing, between God and his Angels and Lucifer and his Angels.. It intersting how all of these concepts are found in all parts of the world and cultures..
You don't have to rely on imagination. the pieces, the clues, the stories are all out there. but you do have to use your imagination and observation to put the pieces together in a way thats true to factual history of the events back then.
It is fascinating, and potentially very instructive if taken in the right context- by far most of human history was not recorded in writing but passed from one generation to the next through rituals and stories performed by tribal shamans around the campfires that held the unknown at bay just beyond the reach of the firelight, and were illustrated with imagery painted in the constellations wheeling overhead. Cultures migrated and expanded, clashed, merged, divided, and dissappeared until writing was invented and the syncretized versions of the old tales were finally recorded in stone and then ink, adapted to the prevailing narrative of each new culture - the evolution of cultures can be traced back through time with some precision by comparing their stories. One example of this is the "Seven Sisters" myth based on the Pleiades that shows up in some form in every culture on Earth; what's unique about that particular myth is that the stories always refer to SEVEN stars, but only SIX are now visible to the naked eye - based on star map regression the stories would have had to originate at least 75,000 years ago and likely earlier for the inclusion of the seventh sister, and suggesting common origins across cultures. It's a good reminder of "The Golden Age" of legends, and that we weren't always as divided as we are today by our cultural, religious, and political narratives. Maybe if we remember the old stories again and learn their lessons, Astraea will return and bring a bit of the Golden Age with her? I've found Jon at Crecganford RUclips channel to be a good resource and storyteller for mythological history research, and was one of my sources for the Pleiades reference.
Using you imagination is exactly what you should do. You are sent those images from you ancestors to help you understand your past. The images we receive in our head and in our dreams are sent to us to tell us something or we are entering different timelines. Pay attention to your mind!
The First War. I knew a good bit about this war, but man-o-man, to hear the tales like this make it positively come alive. These aren't just figures in stories, they are people. These are just myth, they truly come alive. Fantastic!!!!!
Sir Baldermort and Lady Lightbringer, this has to be one of the greatest moments of storytelling on this platform. The music descriptions, images, and even the minor details, paint a picture so vivid, you could almost see it as a full length feature film. You have truly outdone yourselves on this project. I was worried this would not come out, as I haven't seen many updates. But now I can see the scale of it. Take your time. Rest and relax for the holidays. Your faithful listener shall be here when you are ready. Happy holidays my friends 🤠

Like father, like daughter. I am amazed at how you two are such enrapturing storytellers. I could listen to you two read an instruction manual to a microwave. Lady Lightbringer and Baldemort I've been listening to your videos as I play Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
This was outstanding, it has to be the best video you produced yet! Fantastic choice of epic music, the passionate voice acting (especially the contrast between Baldermort's vengeful, powerful performance and Lightbringer's gentle, yet determined way of narration) and to top it all off, amazing choice of imagery! This was truly worth the wait!
Im writing a fantasy novel......think God of War but in a world full of magic and a young prince who becomes the champion of a betrayed Nix. This vid has helped me alot.
Congratulations and goodluck my friend! Writing is a wonderful thing, if difficult at times haha We're happy to hear you liked our tales too! Researching all the interpretations and variations of the Greek mythology is so fun! Enjoy the adventure of it all! Your novel sounds like a very cool story indeed! - Lightbringer
Sounds like a cool plot and an image-rich setting, and an interesting twist on the mythic context to bring it into the present; good luck, sincerely - got a title yet, to be on the lookout for? It's encouraging to me to find examples of others who are tapping into the mythic tales for new narratives, as someone who remembers fondly the hours spent absorbed in the stories of writers like Piers Anthony (Wielding A Red Sword, On A Pale Horse, With A Tangled Skein...) J.R.R. Tolkien, Stephen King, and others who did the same. I'm sharpening my quill and dabbling in a similar project, a study in (Jungian) trauma psychology written as the story of a Bushido "soldier of misfortune" Gatekeeper who wakes washed up on the shore of a barren island in Limbo, shipwrecked in a storm after losing his guidestar while sailing on the Midnight Sea. He has to learn new skills in Magick and "Necromancy" to commune with the pale spirits of his own exiled and fragmented ego parts and overcome his greatest nemesis- himself, inflated to giant proportions with flaming anger and churning resentment and the restless internalized spirits of betrayers and tormentors. Only then can he fulfill the vision brought to him by the Damselfly, sent from a goddess he does not know - build a new Temple, a bridge between worlds that will allow him and his newly-integrated selves to cross into a land-of-the-living he did not know before, hanging high in the branches of the WorldTree, one in which he can truly exercise free will and his newly acquired skills - as a Priest of the Seven Sisters. He must hurry, the Lightkeeper fades, and with him, all hope. My story draws from poems, myths, archetypes, and symbolism going back through the Ages of Man to address and contextualize some of the most pressing issues of the modern world, and offer some insights into potential solutions. It's an ambitious undertaking, and like the Gatekeeper it is one I didn't expect or ask for and am totally unprepared for, but am compelled by forces beyond my will or understanding to pursue - if I can pull it and myself together, "The Book Of Ronin" will be the work of my lifetime on Earth (THIS ONE, anyway). Channels like this and comments like yours provide education and inspiration I need to help me keep taking baby steps in the dark. Wish me luck, and accept my sincerest wishes for your success with your project, which I hope to read soon. "Nihil ausus, nihil mutatum. Carpè noctum." 🙏🕊🌒🌑🌘 -Ronin Ravenquill
Greetings Bald and miss Light, greetings once more,as I’ve said before both on this channels and 40k. I’m in tears, the myths I was told by my grandmother as a child, retold in such a grand and beautiful way. Even the small details, like the small details like the names of mountains,to the gods personality and fighting spirit along with mannerisms. An example of Hades being laconic and intimidating both in battle and speech. You’re one of the few that can name the great titans, thus miss Light. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

The story of baby Zeus escaping Chronos reminds me of the storyline in Willow. Elora Danan was the baby's name in Willow. She was a princess who it was prophesied would destroy Queen Bavmorda. She also escaped through the help of a midwife.

Absolutely extraordinary; nothing else even need be said :). Please don't keep us waiting for part 2 for too long!
Thank you so much Zachariah - your kind words mean a lot to us! We’ll be sure to make the next episode just as good, If not better! Thank you for your patience and support

Amazing! This is the Best Greek Mythology Video to Ever Exist!
I do believe this is what you would call, EPIC. Absolutely wonderful.
What a great way to unwind after work. My 5 year old and myself love what you to do thank you.
Ave Baldermort! Thanks for the Tales of gods and monsters!

These videos are masterpieces of art. It reminds me of a time when America
had high standards ♥️♥️♥️
I’m very glad you enjoyed our efforts Ser Jobsalot ! It was hard work but a labour of love and so worth it when enjoyed by others too!
- Lightbringer
Epic doesn't seem quite...well....big enough a term to describe this piece. Well done Lady L and Laird Balders and thanks for sharing 😍👏👏👏

Im writing a fantasy novel......think God of War but in a world full of magic and a young prince who becomes the champion of a betrayed Nix. This vid has helped me alot.
Congratulations and goodluck my friend! Writing is a wonderful thing, if difficult at times haha
We're happy to hear you liked our tales too!

I like your 40k but im glad you opened this. It's better.
Fantastic work, I’ve known the tale of the titans and heard it quite a few times, but this has to be one of the best telling of the story. Great video work as well, the transitions/editing has truly improved a great deal. Well done and I can not wait the next tale!
Thank you so much - your kind words truly mean a lot to us both! We hope you enjoy the episodes to come!

Beautifully done, was like walking side by side with the Gods themselves
I’ve been saving this for when I can give it my fullest attention rather than just having it play in the background. WOW, loved it as pure entertainment but afterward had to admire the quality of production & heart you folks put into this. Writing a novel series with fantastic human history as a background for my story. This video was perfect research for my Greek influence I'm adding
one of the best series, I’ve listened to this like 5 times haha
Thank you so so much - it means a lot that you love our works so much!

Amazing as always. Still can't wait for Mythos from other Cultures.
The story of baby Zeus escaping Chronos reminds me of the storyline in Willow. Elora Danan was the baby's name in Willow. She was a princess who it was prophesied would destroy Queen Bavmorda. She also escaped through the help of a midwife.
Willow is one of my fav movies
Good to hear you again Balders. I am a faithful listener ✌🏻
From Baldermort and myself, Thank you for your support my friend!

Brilliant!! Wonderfully written and told. The sagamasters and bards of the old oral traditions would be proud of your work.
Such a great video. All of these. Both of you have done so well. :) thank you.
I have read Greek mythology doggedly to understand these stories. But never have I heard the stories told with such theater and craft that it all felt so new, so fresh and so vivid. Our ancestors would be proud, I'd like to think, that their immortal stories are told like this thousands of years later.
Thank you all for making this channel, and these inspired works.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
We see ourselves as just continuing on the tradition of oral story telling!
Thank you truly - without people like you to watch it wouldn't be possible!
I hope you enjoy the second and third parts of this trilogy as much as you enjoyed this one!

You know, when Chaplain Bald collabs with Lightbringer, I think of a Battle Sister Hospitaller reading stories to wounded guardsmen in a battlefield hospital somewhere. Much relaxation, excellent voicing!
Glad I found this channel, came here by way of 40k lore, thank you lord and lady!

Cant lie, hearing the voice i so strongly relate to 40k talking about greek mythology was jarring at first lol. No shade being thrown, really a testament to the impact your stories have had than anything else. But as ive adjusted this is fucking incredible! Your style/talent, idk right word, applied to mythology is incredible! Also a huge fan of whoever the female voice actor is! Her voice has a certain....... 🤔gravitas, or maybe regalness?? 🤷♂️ That goes perfectly with these ancient fables!!🥰
Edit:
Was so eager to praise the story told so far, 3 vids in i think? That i didnt read the pinned comment first lol. Lightbringer i apologize for not being familiar with you, but ur voice acting here is incredible!! Considering who ur fellow VA has been its even more impressive how standout your performance is! I thank u for ur hard work 🙏
Thank you so much for watching and enjoying our work! It's great to know that the style is something people do enjoy, and we work hard to make something cool! So I am very glad to hear it is all paying off!
And thank you from me personally, Lightbringer, it means a lot that you complimented my voice acting - I am still learning a lot :)
- Lightbringer
@@livingmythology1405😳 Is this the first voice acting you've done then!?!? Your absolutely holding your own with what has very quickly become the voice of 40k for me! BRAVO!!! 👏
Do you guys co-write these stories?? These videos humanize the pantheon better than anything I've ever seen or read, 🤔 with the possible exception of hades, maybe? All the gods in that game are such sassy bitches lol, it's fantastic.
I adore the premise of the channel so much, it's genius!! I like to imagine sitting around a fire outside ancient Athens while listening. Knowing how these stories would have been told thousands of years ago and actually hearing them told that way are un-comparable!
A new episode and it's over an hour? Glorious!
This is absolutely amazing, thankyou so much to both of you for the time and hard work you have obviously poured into this, you should be very proud of the fruits of your labour. A true masterpiece..
