So learning early that she could not be made queen and as strong and independent as she is - it is natural she just made a different life for herself.
And then, exactly 20 years later, in 1989 whilst working at Argyle Diamonds, I was told I’d been selected to spend “4 minutes” with the Princess Royal for a “chat” I was told to refer to her as Ma’am in this instance. Of course I fucked up, and said hello your Royal highness 🫣 !! Princess Anne put me at ease instantly, I’ll never forget how quickly she made me feel like an old friend,. After the allotted 4 minutes, her lady in waiting and bodyguards got bored and wandered off, and we ( The Princess Royal and I) actually spent 35 minutes alone in my diamond cutting room to just chat ! She pulled up a chair and we just talked, about everything… she asked me about the differences were between living in England, South Africa and Australia ? We spoke a lot about this question, because she was clearly interested in my answer. She was absolutely amazing ! I felt like a teenager at a Beatles concert 🤷🏼♂️❤️
There is always the Margarets, the Annes, in the royal family. The badass female figure who doesn't give a frick about all the bullcrap. Right now we can see it showing in Charlotte.
The Queen drove a Jeep and was a mechanic in the Second World War, Princess Anne has a Heavy Vehicle license, can drive a tank and shoot a machine gun! Talk about a chip off the old block!
Yes! The main reason Anne got a HGV license was to drive her horse boxes to and from competitions, but it does come in handy when you want to drive the odd tank now and then!
Can Prince Charles even dress himself? He needs staff to lay out clothes, dress him, shave him & press his shoelaces. Charles does nothing without a Valet.
Princess Anne can stop an armed kidnapper in their tracks She just says NO I won't get out of the car 👊🇬🇧 He didn't know what to do with that 😁🇦🇺 Brave woman our Anne
I met Princess Anne with my sister when I was 10 when she came to open the Scottish Police Memorial. Our dad (a police officer) had died the year before and we had been asked to present her with flowers. She spoke to us both and knew that I liked to play rugby. Hearing about how hardworking she is in this video makes total sense, and the effort she put in to be well briefed for each engagement.
Anne strikes me as someone who both enjoys her own company, and has all her life, but also relates excellently with people of every level, age and background, having great boundaries and a healthy sense of humour. I don't think she finds the centre of attention necessary to her very existence in the slightest. But instead in her steady self confidence and the confidence that her family has given her- is able to turn her own attention onto others- an incredibly necessary and healthy trait for a Royal person to have by nature.

The fact that the press were more interested in what her attitude to the press was and her outfits instead of the good work she does is there fault not hers. I have a lot of respect for her.
“If you are only concerned with being liked, then you will most likely miss the opportunity to be respected. “ This is her mantra. Integrity and consistency is better than anything because times change, perspectives change and if you stay constant in your truth, people will eventually honor that.

Well, they don't like her because she has brains and skills and a badass to boot! She was just true to herself and doesn't try to pretend who she wasn't. Not a lot of people has that kind of character. Perhaps the press would look deeper and avoid the hollow gloss. I admire Diana but Princess Anne has the most fortitude.
I have to agree with you. Diana has the sympathy votes but as a woman, Anne is someone I’d look up too more so. Anne grew up in the environment which made her more tactful.
she could've easily been more beautiful more glamorous than Princess Diana, but she clearly wasn't that type (not that i dislike Diana). My point is Princess Ann was just as physically beautiful, however, she chose instead to focus on taking more seriously the legacy of royal duty that was entrusted to her family which is showing empathy and compassion for all under the British crown - She's a perfect addition to her Parents extraordinary legacy of duty, grace and charities. And the press are just a superficial network of embittered, relentlessly cruel sensationalists with a bought and paid for agenda who should've been more understanding and impartial. I hope more people become aware to NOT allow the Press to influence their perspective of other people and important subjects regarding our globe.
I specifically feel for the Princess Royal following the loss of her Mother. She is also 'Anne the Constant', someone that Her Majesty could always rely on to get 'the girl stuff' done, but without being girly about it. She's one tough cookie on the outside, but she is grieving deeply on the inside - and she bears it so well. Her mother would be so proud of her - and so are we. She's a wonderful role model for all the women of the UK, the Commonwealth, and all the World. We salute you, Princess Anne! ❤️
I agree. the mother-daughter relationship is a unique, best friend, can talk about anything, relationship - not always, but many times. so close. and such a wrench when it ends I feel for her too. AND, I WISH SHE WAS QUEEN! so unfair
Princess Anne , with all she did for the United Kingdom non- stopped , The Princess Royal deserved as the reigning Monarch In this Magnificent United Kingdom. She is the Role Model all around. Thank you!!🤙.
Depends. Anne actually had medal prospects. That's like saying Usain Bolt not winning an Olympic medal is a good result for him. She competed to win, not to participate

When her children were born, Zara and Philip, she told the Queen 'no titles for them'. Duke of Edinburgh chuckled and said that's Anne. Respect to Anne who would've continued the no nonsense, serious minded, order instilling, clear headed, action oriented, attention detailed, decorum respecting without the extraneous, proper attire, tradition inspiring, sensible shoes, hard working, dedicated, dutiful monarch and very British to boot. I dont think this is true. Females can't pass titles to their children, that's why Beatrice and Euginie are princesses but Zara and Peter (not Philp) aren't.

She is the epitome of the greatness of British people, and of a British woman, created from the Celtic warriors and rulers as much or more as from the later Anglo-saxon strain, that contributed its part also..Why I think she would be an excellent ruler, if she wanted the job at this point in her life,--in these difficult times where steadfast humanoitarian vision and absolute honesty are called for.
She is the perfect combination of her father and mother.. I believe she would be an excellent Queen. No matter she is a dedicated server of the crown. Love her💜
I really have no problem with Charles, but Anne would have been a wonderful queen. She appears controlled, structured, strong, thoughtful and very disciplined. She seems to be a good role model for young women or for young people in general.

Not only the UK could have been proud of Anne if she had become Queen, but the entire Commonwealth too. Sadly long established traditions prevent a girl - like Anne, to be Queen while she has any brothers. Time to break with tradition otherwise another drip will become King or Queen.

Anne has never promoted herself, always charity or the causes and has always been a great support for her family. She is a real princess I am so glad that the focus is back on the royal great work. And not like when the press was obsessed with Diana's dress or hair. Princess Anne, King Charles and Queen Camilla are working so hard, they have more than 300 events each in a year

So many of you missing the point here... I really don't think that Princess Anne would want to be Queen!! And Princess Anne has always just got on with her work, not needing the flash of the camera and public approval to validate it, she was above that. A truly remarkable lady.
She may be queenly in spirit, but she is way back in the line of succession. Lots of people are queenly in bearing or spirit who will never be Queen of England.
I see Anne as another rf phony-baloney who can kick her nephew & his wife in the teeth by ignoring and shunning them one day and go out the next in fron of cameras to pretend she cares about a bunch of strangers at another booze party, uh doody.
"Respect than affection"...Princess Anne, a true humanitarian & strong woman. She was not a media magnet because she knew that journalists are still grasping, commercial, self-aggrandizing superficial fools.

No chance of her being a monarch. Charles is the oldest. His by right of succession. She may have Queenly attributes, but I think she knew from an early age that being a monarch was never in her future.

I saw Princess Anne at Blair Castle horse trials in the mid 80's she was parked near us in the lorry park, none of the other competitors treated her differently she was just another rider, she had to push her way to to front in the score tent to see her scores the same as everyone else, a really down to earth hard working lady.

It’s just a generational thing. An insult to say she was the Diana of her day. Quite the opposite. Anne lives a low key life, supports the real people, commoners. She lives simply and without hangers-on such as clothes designers and self promoting folk. She really is an individual and a proper legend.
Short memory. Both HRH Princess Anne and her aunt Princess Margaret were notorious for their occasionally "scandalous" marriages, divorces and affairs , back in the day. Anne has somewhat "mellowed" over time and Margaret is dead. But not to worry. The Royal Family now has Meghan Markle to follow in the "scandalous" footsteps of Diana, Fergie, et. al. .

I believe it impossible to know if she would have wanted it had she been born under the current rules of inheritance and had she been firstborn. I believe it inevitable that if you are told you will never get something, and you believe that statement - you try to not want it. No one likes being denied something you want. So learning early that she could not be made queen and as strong and independent as she is - it is natural she just made a different life for herself.
That’s how Roman emperors chose their heirs lmao
Anne would make a wonderful Queen. She works hard and is very much her father’s daughter.
I does NOT depend on gender AT ALL. It depends on who was born first.

Just like her Grandmother 👑
I’ve always wondered if they (William and Kate) will let her have it if her brother George doesn’t want it (sort of like Charles and Ann).
Charlotte is just a toddler but is more badass than the men already.
yes, you're correct - there are always the boozehounds and the horsefaces in a royal family!

I AGREE SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACEMENT TO HER mother. Queen Elizabeth

fortitude is a tough virtue
When I was younger, I thought Diana was great. Now I look back and think “not so much.”

Depends. Anne actually had medal prospects. That's like saying Usain Bolt not winning an Olympic medal is a good result for him. She competed to win, not to participate
That was a statement reflecting the entire equestrian teams inability to medal. It was not a statement on just her performance.
I thought she got a bronze medal??
You win a medal if you come in the top of your event (or your team does if it's a team event) she won medals in various 3 day eventing competitions but not an Olympic one.

If my memory serves me right, she told the press to "naff off". Her coined phrase became a new favourite for a while.
I agree that she should be queen! I don't think Queen Elizabeth was thinking her at the time. She sure deserves it more that that Queen consort! She's much more intelligent!
Maureen McKenna : ...she *couldN'T* care less.
@@tamething1 said it wrong? But you got it.
@@maureenmckenna5220 You did not mispronounce it. It did not make sense. Critical thinking is your friend.
There's something about Anne. She just looks like a queen.
She looks like her own person.
She deserves it more than charles !
Somehow, I doubt she felt “humiliated” from falling in muddy water, because there is nothing humiliating about that.
I had the same thought
Lol that is okay i think she's very brilliant !
Except she's humam and the press was around.
Anyone who has ridden horses at all has fallen off their mount. It's just part of riding. Even the best, most experienced riders do it.
I think it was more the response that her fall got that pissed her off. It would have pissed ME off.
Princess Anne is her Mother's daughter. She is just like her in all ways. She would have carried on her Mother's legacy beautifully.
Yes She Would Have.
Princess Anne has 'always held her own'....She still does....... Humble, clever, capable, intelligent, great whit, sense of duty, a very hard worker, independent, fearless, made the front pages of the best fashion and beauty mags, her formal evening dress is always 'elegance', a gold medal Olympian, loyal, she can drive a tank, a heavy vehicle licence, loves animals and people of every Nationality, outspoken, doesn't suffer fools, humorous, brave, endless fundraiser for Charity...A great example all round, and I have great admiration for her, as you can see. Which she has earned diligently. xx 6.2020. New Zealand.
She did not win an Olympic medal.
@@granny58 OK...She competed tho I'm sure.?? I know she is a very competent horsewoman and has done hundreds of competition events. For many decades .I don't have the actual facts however.
Ditto from Canada
There is a tremendous difference between being haughty and dignified. Princess Anne is not haughty, she is a royal. Being dignified and graceful is her job, and luckily who she is. I am not British, anyway.
What does Princess Anne mean, "I am not British, anyway?"
dignified? Tell that one to the wives whose husbands Anne stole then tossed.
I saw Princess Anne at Blair Castle horse trials in the mid 80's she was parked near us in the lorry park, none of the other competitors treated her differently she was just another rider, she had to push her way to to front in the score tent to see her scores the same as everyone else, a really down to earth hard working lady.
Great story

That's pretty cool.
I, one hundred per cent, approve ANN as a QUEEN, she has shown to the world the strongest that she is, and the Queen's strength is completely reflected in her.
Her Brothers have not absorb the Royal spirit as she completely does...
Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace!!!
We all wish!!
While that would be WONDERFUL, she can’t.
The Perth Agreement, which among other things replaces male preference primogeniture with absolute primogeniture, wasn’t adopted until 2011.
If her grandfather, father and older brother die tomorrow, Princess Charlotte would become Queen.
i love Princess Ann's wedding dress,' the pearls around the neckline and the drooping arms. She has been under-rated, i love her personality
She should have been a queen as she is tough and direct.
I have followed her since she was a child. An extraordinary lady-smart, bright, serious, amusing. Always wears clothes beautifully whatever the occasion. Her children adore her.

I kept hearing "she can be snappy, she can reduce grown men to tears" a bit of harsh take on a woman who actually just is practical and honest,,,,honestly I didnt see her reducing any man to tears,,,, what I saw, instead, was a woman who was recognizing the hard working men who were soldiers and going in, alongside of them as a way to shine a spotlight on them,,,the dimwitted lazy press doesnt know how to think outside the box to see anyone's worth, so they chracterized, or rather satitrized her instead of appreciating her
I've met her several times and have been photographed with her and have enjoyed her company especually when she visited The Bahamas in 2015. I've participated in The Caribbean-Canada Emerging Leaders' Dialogue (CCELD), which is built of the Duke of Edinburgh's Commonwealth Study Conference - of which Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne is President. She is very down to earth, funny and genuinely interested in you.
.
a - ha . . . .
When the cameras role the acting begins.
I fell in love with her when the narrator said "she can reduce grown men to tears."
Striking yesterday during Queen Elizabeth’s funeral how resolute Princess Anne appeared. While appearances aren’t everything, Anne looked the superior of all her siblings especially King Chuck who looks perpetually uncomfortable.
Loved every moment of this documentary. The Princess Royal is one remarkable woman. This documentary shows just that.
She and I are close in age. I grew up a small town farm girl in Michigan, USA and was totally enthralled with her, voraciously reading any snipit about her. She has intrigued me for many years, I admire Princess Anne wholeheartedly!
You ain’t smart. This video is about women getting sexually assaulted in public site and people like you changing the subject as to give it a soft landing.
The Royal Family now has Meghan Markle to follow in the "scandalous" footsteps of Diana, Fergie, et. al. .
@@Frank-mm2yp scandal then and now are quite different. Anne on the whole seems a well adjusted individual.
@@Frank-mm2yp Diana wasn't without scandal she was a known to manipulate the press to suit herself
@@buticks6388 AGREE.'"Royal Women" have been "scandalous" for a very long time.
@@joncrane7661 Agree- ,I wrote she has mellowed over time. But she had her "paparazzi moments" when she was younger. Diana died young so she never had the chance to outlive her youthful "scandals".
She's my favourite royal, she's a character, humble and caring and what a beautiful woman she was when she was young.
She is more elegant and responsible look than her brother, charles. No scandal, no gossip, very smart.
I admire Princess Anne for her dedication to her inherited role and her duty to the
BRF, the country of England and the nation of the U.K . She seems to have been
gifted with the best traits from both the Queen and Prince Philip.
If Princess Anne and Princess Diana were in good terms, they could have been unstoppable. One being outspoken and tough, while the other is gentle and innocent.
...I can see why they may not be in a good term.. different personality and different generation...
I like Diana but Anne was right that being a member of the royal family was working with real actions for the country, and Diana only posed pretty and emotional for the photos, she was loved exaggeratedly for her sympathy, beauty, compassion, unique and true features, but a bit superficial for their place they have. Meanwhile Anne working hard for the country and nobody gave her credit. I can understand why she didn't like her and she has the right, we all dislike someone and she has arguments for
Well done. You educated this American about someone she knew nothing about.
.Truly respect this woman for holding her own, charting her course and being true to herself and her position.
I was very touched seeing her at the Vigil of the Princes. Her emotion was palpable but, her honor to her Queen, her duty as an officer and Titled Royal kept her under control. I wanted to know more about this strong, devoted, loving daughter whom I knew nothing about except her name which brought me to this video.
Her beauty in youth and her not falling into that lavish designer posh image and lifestyle but, rather devoting herself to the military and her less "glamorous" Charities and a very strenuous devotion to service as a Royal shows a woman who would have made a great Queen (as her mother.)
Blessings and thank you to Princess Anne for being a great role model in women's history among her many successes.
She needs to be Queen, right ?
@@shopsshire9282 She doesn't want to be Queen.
I don't make the rules.
I do think of most Royals she is the most prepared, best character and most devoted. She would make her mother proud.
It is not her birthright.
Yes I finally get to meet Anne I too was my fathers first born daughter ( Tom Boy) horses, machines the bigger the better, tools in hand at five under the car with my dad. Alas he forbid me to enlist in the service. Being who I am got a job as a technician for all military employed contractor only woman in the building that wasn't a secretary. I loved horses as well had two and would go and exercise the neighbors horses. Learned to fist fight for self defense taught to me by my uncle and my dad. I thoughly appreciate her strong work ethic as my father raised me as well to have. Only woman in the USA to run a high temperature evaporator ; over saw the crew in blend room and cooling tower operations as well as the boiler, I worked 6-7 days per week 12 hour shifts. Put myself through 4 years college non stopped and took extra courses to get my monies worth. First to be as an artist to be accepted in the science illustration program at UCSC design for biology majors. I tell young people push yourself you might be surprised at what you can do I am a person that never have known what no means just keep knocking at that door because even if you hear no one day they might say yes. It is determination that companies hire you for not what you can do but the williness to try and give it your all. Anne gave it her all now and always. Hip hip hurray 👍 We are close in age maybe that is the similarity. I still haven't slow down never will not afraid to try anything new . Swinging hammers and working on cars and machinery. Keep on trucking Anne.
To add to ‘dogcatfamily,’ the Perth Agreement of 1799(?) was officially adopted in 2011, too late to benefit Princess Anne.
It replaced male preference primogeniture with absolute primogeniture, meaning that the first-born, regardless of gender, would become King/Queen.
But both of her parents said, “it’s too bad Anne isn’t a boy, she’d make a much better ruler than her older brother.’

The fact that as a child she was very outgoing and Prince Charles was shy reminds me of how Prince George and Princess Charlotte are in videos.
It was the same with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's children. Their oldest, Vicki, was the outgoing one, and Bertie, who became king, was the total opposite.
Queen Victoria son Bertie, who took the regnal name Edward 7th was very much an outgoing life enjoying man. He enjoyed lavish parties and cheated around very much. His 2nd son though who ascended after him had the more strict and formal personality.
Agree.
Never thought about that. But that is interesting. She does take after her dad.
She is a Leo
Interesting story. She's had to stand up for and represent herself every step of the way. Respect for her strength and resilience. Sincere condolences for her loss. RIP to her Mom.
Resilience is a woman's key to success in a male dominated world... A woman has to constantly fight ALL the way to eventually be somewhat accepted as equal to her male colleagues... J.S.
Hello Nancy how are you doing today and your family wishing you Merry Christmas and Happy New year 🎉🎂😊🎂
The Princess Royal has and continues to be a wonderful example of selfless service.
I admire how steadfast she has been by her mother’s side since her death. She in an excellent example for all royals
Hello Catherine how are you doing today and your family wishing you a prosperous New year 🎉🎉🎂
She's the best royal after her mum she's smart straightforward classy love her. Besides she's paved the way for younger royals no doubt
Exactly, that is very true
She got a lot of pride !
I don't know how many know what an excellent and talented equestrienne she was! She rode in the Olympics and quietly made a place for herself in history! Unlike her siblings, she made it her business to keep out of the spotlight as much as possible, except for her exceptional riding abilities. She earned that!
Great lady. Phil
nah, she was lousy at keeping all her torrid affairs out of the public's eye.
Not from the UK but love her character. A very good role model to girls around the world.
