This was one of my first horror movie experiences. I was 14 at a punk show in rented out Vietnamese restaurant. This was just playing without sound on three TVs above the bar. WONDERFUL!
Also I don't think they could wait another day just because Katrina's changing and won't be any use to them anymore If not a problem and Baldwin and will probably also be changed. I think that's why they started so late in the day it's because they're at options.
I absolutely love this movie, James Woods being an asshole the brutal way the vampires kill, I know it's not a great movie but always find myself going back to it lol.
Fond video store experience: Our small (tini tiny) towns rental place had an equally small arcade connected in back. So much fun pumping a fist full of quarters in the jukebox, playing a few rounds of street fighter, a few racks of pool, then picking out whatever happened to catch my eye and heading home with a tape or 3.
@@w415800 Yep. Two books that had promise and then became fairly obscure. Vampire$ (also spelled correctly) and Armor (I also recommend). I discovered John Steakley about the same time I was appreciating John M. Ford books and stories.
After going back and forth with you guys on twitter. When Sean posted the link to this I am now back and listening to it for the second time. I am glad I saw this in theaters
Daniel Baldwin's Vampires: They're Lazy. They're Dumpy. They Don't Do Much. Coming this fall. I have a tendency to be long winded, but when Alice in Videoland was still operating, I had a lot of great video nights. 5 vhs $5, 5 nights to return. In one night I borrowed Silent Night, Deadly Night; The Willies, and Rambo: First Blood Part II and my brother borrowed Leprechaun 2 and Back in Action. It was the first time either of us had seen any of those movies.
John Carpenter getting his name right up front was just his following of: Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Joe Buchanan's Francis Ford Coppola's Mary Shelly's Frankenstein.
I have a lot of fun with this movie. I use to call it a guilty pleasure movie but now I guess it is more appropriate to call it a shelf movie , bottom shelf but still on the shelf. After listening to this review, I want to travel the multiverse until I find the James Woods & Bruce Campbell version of this movie. It's out there somewhere and I need it!
@@MovieDumpster Now that's a piece of trivia that I wasn't aware of! It's pretty cliche and a lot of things in the film don't work for me but it's still a good deal of fun with pretty good fight choreography. You'll definitely see what I mean by the comparison, a lot is lifted directly from John Carpenter's Vampires.
@1:41:42 I never noticed this but yeah how? Valik is supposed to be the first vampire right, so where did they get the slayer to get the slayer’s blood for the ritual to make the first vampire, when you already would’ve needed to have had vampires existing in order to get slayers blood? What were they slayers of werewolves, heretics, door to door salesmen, what?
A crusader. They said they needed a crusader's blood, not a slayer's blood. They needed someone who dedicated their lives to what they believed to be a righteous war against the unholy. Jack fit the bill.
I think maybe because they need to nail them all, and if they burn it down they’ll miss some because they can burrow into the ground? It’s also cool to see them get dragged out into the sun. -Joe
I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel Baldwin? I'm security for the property, Daniel was trying to come into the hotel bar w/3or4 ppl. The doorman didn't know who he is or use to be. We take a quick walk and I bring him up to speed, then we let Daniel in. He thanks me profusely as we shake hands I tell him I'd literally watched Harley Davidson and the Malbro Man the night before. He LOLd, said thanks again and F'd off to drink.
shit. I don't know if I already said it before.a fond video store experience was actually going to" I love video" with my step dad and renting dumb and dumber every other week for probably 6 months lol
A flawed but fun movie. The practical effects are great and I do like the villain of Valek. The third act is definitely rushed and there's some dicy stuff that hasn't aged great but besides that I do enjoy it. Also I definitely think there's some unintentional homoerotic tension between Crow and Valek. Like Crow definitely reads like a homophobic bully who is so insecure and might secretly be in the closet.
@@MovieDumpster literally just watched this movie for the first time ever recently, enjoyed its absurdity, and found you guys through HTM, and i just been binging videos of laughing my ass off. hella funny. i had to pause the video because i was walking down the sidewalk laughing out loud and i didnt want people to think im crazy😂😂

That is an incredible place to see this, you could probably make out most of the plot even without the sound!

I think the guy that played Scorpio was also the guy in Predator 1 that tried to stop the pick up truck Dutch pushed towards rebel encampment. lol
Yup he is, Henry Kingi!
That MST3K "Hamlet" is great. It' was made for German TV and Ricardo Montalban dubs one of the main characters. It's weirdly fascinating.
I absolutely love this movie, James Woods being an asshole the brutal way the vampires kill, I know it's not a great movie but always find myself going back to it lol.
You'll hear it in the review, but we all had a great time with this one. It's definitely wrapped in some Hollywood shlock though!
Baldwin Woods sounds like it belongs in the MDU equivalent of Kakariko Forest

The good ol’ days!
I had that same Tommy Wiseau thought the first time I saw Lazar Rockwood
and I'll finish the day, with this. This is definitely a shelf movie for me. Can't Wait.
I think Daniel Baldwin falls in love with her because he's never spent more than an hour with a chick that he didn't pay for
That is a really good point! 🤣
John Steakley had two novels: Vampire$ and Armor. They were drastically different books with shared names between the two works.
Is that his real name? Someone named Stake-ly wrote a book about vampires? 🤣

This movie is fucking hilarious
Father Adam also had a small role in blade he was the Dr chicks ex or whatever the guy who gets bit my crispy Donal Logue.
If we didn't mention it in the episode, we talked about it before or after haha.

They took her because she was bitten so there is no need to look for a bite mark. He for sure it was just giving her the old Baldwin special 🤢
Just Baldwin being the same ol’ creep!
Can we just mention how Valik, the first vampire is played by Terry Silver himself, from Karate Kid 3 🤣
Oh my godddd!! Never made that connection! -Sean
I loved Valic in this who was played by the guy who played Terry Silver

Great video guys, I hope you guys can get CB Smith a copy of Vampire$ and do a book to the movie episode on it.
We just may have to, any excuse to talk about James Woods and Daniel Baldwin again is good enough for us.
I love James wood's red hat. He wears it with pride.....AND still gets roles! That's the power of Woods.
He’s a hell of an actor without a doubt and he’s great in this movie!
@@MovieDumpster high waisted jeans of DEATH.
