OMG, I didn't know about the voice being the same, that's awesome.
Kind of a similar situation as June Foray doing the voice for Chatty Cathy, then doing the voice for Talky Tina (who was based on that doll) in the "Living Doll" Twilight Zone episode.

I know there's so much to just.... _soak in_ here, but damn. I just can't get over how shitty these dolls' in-universe parents must've been. Who names their kids "Cricket" and "Corky," honestly? At least someone told them, "Hey, those aren't names for kids" by the time they got to Jill, but jeez louise, lol.
I honestly don't think I ever heard of this! I had a My Buddy and associated that with Chucky/Good Guy Dolls and that was that. Never knew there was a _second_ lil' hellspawn of a doll out there that inspired the Good Guys too! Fascinating!
You also made me look up the commercials for Jill and I'm laughing my ass off. They have her sing a song about how she's "A lot like you" because - and I quote - "I can move my head and arms real well." What she's doing is a big achievement by '80s doll standards, but it's real funny to me when applied near actual children, who are _really_ overacting and moving and dancing to make this whole thing look far more exciting than it is, I dunno. It's unintentionally almost like they're making fun of a friend who's, like, paralyzed or something 😄
I love this series when it pops up, and I'm sure you'll find non-80s things eventually. Lots of old movies, for example, are unintentionally terrifying. You ever seen 'March of the Wooden Soldiers' from 1934? "Mickey Mouse" is in it, _in live action,_ and you know how they did it in the '30s? They made a suit for a baby monkey to wear on set, and it is absolutely horrifying. Old timey special fx are universal nightmare fuel, I swear.
I’ve never heard of that movie, but I’ll definitely look it up! Yeah, the commercials for the dolls are pretty funny, I’m not sure why some toy company saw Jill the doll jerk around like that and thought, “yeah, that’ll work.” Lol At least the stop motion in Cricket’s commercial was a little impressive and weirdly less jerky than her sister doll.
There's a 90's tv show called: Life Goes On. One of the main characters with down syndrome name is Corky in the tv show~ 🤷♀️ Thought it was a good tv show / series back then. I have autism as a girl (millennial) but still thought as a kid it was interesting to learn about other disabilities in the world back then. Never looked at the name Corky as good or bad just a characters name in a tv show~ 🤷♀️✌️
They need to bring these dolls back with AI, and crawl, walk, and climb.

I think it’s more with children, but some of those dolls walk that line of uncanny valley that makes people uncomfortable.
As a 90's kid. I loved doll's both back then & even now as a adult. My favorite are mechanical doll's. My main favorite is: Starbrite Sparkles by mattel. She has a long story. Long story short though I ended up with 3. All have color coded necklaces now. I also have PJ & Baby Sparkles among many other's. I have a brunette My Buddy & used to have a blonde Kid Sister doll as a kid~ 🤷♀️ If a person is really afraid of doll's then don't enter my room at my house. 😉😎🤣 I have alot doll's in general except porcelain doll's. Only kind I refuse to own only because porcelain doll's break to easily... 🤷♀️🤦♀️

Right, just to get it said before watching the vid, I saw a review for Where the Dead Go to Die and peeked in on yours, only to notice you have a PERLER OF ONE OF THE DANCING ZOMBIES FROM MONSTER PARTY! If that, and the Big O and Co. standing precariously on a Twin Peaks box of some kind isn't a subbin', I don't know what it~
That is a perfectly horrifying bit of trivia to this already perfectly horrifying friend to the end, and I swear my older sister may have had one of the Crickets, because someone used the box for all my issues of Cricket when we moved. Really wish I still had 'em.. anyways, love your content and I've only just started! Lesee what we've got on here, thanks for the passions!
YES! You're the first one to notice my Monster party! I made it so long ago. I wanted to make more, but got distracted and kind of forgot about that project! Yes, I love Big O, it was onme of the first adult swim 'grown up' shows I watched and was addicted immediately. The twin Peaks thing is a pie dish! I want to display it, but I'm so paranoid it'll fall and break.
I'm sure your sis did have a Cricket doll, from what I could tell they were insanely popular in their days until the day of the good guy doll!

That game has a special spot in my brain, I had nightmares about a kind of endless shopping center near our apartment when I was very young, the music (and bag-headed enemy) in level 7 seemed to set it off somehow.. I had kind of a spooky childhood, cuz I KNOW my sister had a big doll she'd leave in the hallway on purpose so I couldn't leave my room to use the bathroom.
I had to pee the bed once, I got in trouble and cried on the bus.

I managed to get mine from eBay for about $150. You might be able to snag one for cheaper if you don’t care if he works, but it’s well worth it having a working one.

I'm trying to find the logic behind using 4 C batteries with a 9V battery for one toy. I can understand one type of battery. But two different types combined? Whyyyy?
