    One tip I will add is that you want the mirrored reflective surface on the inside of the mirror. It’s what helps get all angles because it bounces the light off in all directions .

    This is really helpful to know that a cheap lamp can be just as good as a professional lamp. I have the Mylee lamp which was a cheap one on Amazon. I have found my nails really dont last all that well and don't know how to correct it. I've watched hundreds of videos so know how to prep the nail, it seems to be the same with all the brands of gel I've tried, although haven't tried the bigger brands as I cant seem to find them to buy anywhere online, like OPI, CND etc - can they only be purchased by professionals? Perhaps that's what it is. Also, is it correct that only certain lamps and certain brands of gel polish work well together?

    Omg I am SO GLAD I found this review!!! I was using a Gelish light for a couple years.. Worked great but it is kinda heavy and beeps etc… plus the little latch that held the eye protective hood broke so I always had to lift the hood for clients… THEN when I started using builder gel on clients and they started getting length on them, the middle fingers would always have curing issues! If you go too far back in the lamp with your hand, the middle finger is past where the light is… what. a. pain.
    So I recently got the Young Nails lamp which now I see is basically the same as the SunUV that you show here! Except the interior is white not black. Aaaaaand I’m having thumb curing issues 😢 Which never happened with the Gelish lamp. It has the removable tray which is great for a few clients who have some issues. I got it on SALE and it was still like $100 😮😬😳 I thought I was getting a bargain 😂 Now I’m heading to Amazon to order this one, I hope they still have it! Thanks for this awesome review - you’re speaking my language being back-to-back, no break or lunch and running over doing nail art. Ain’t nobody got time to fix a thumb! 🙄🤣🤦🏼‍♀️
    *Update: I cannot find the Ohuhu lamp ANYWHERE. 😢 So sad!
    Update to my update: I contacted Ohuhu and they no longer make the lamp.😭
    Update to my updated update 😂:
    I ordered the Kiara Sky lamp and it was on sale 🙌🏼🙌🏼 it’s coming tomorrow…I don’t care if it’s big or a little noisy, I need something that cures alllll the fingers fast😅 FINALLY hoping to have a good proper well working LED lamp🎉

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  Год назад

      Hi! Generally all gel Polish requires the same cure time, The only thing that changes is whether you are using a UV lamp or an LED lamp. And the time should always be the same regardless of the brand machine you use. However some machines cure better than others and from my experience I notice the only difference between those lamps is the wattage. At nine want or 12 white lamp generally does not cure very pigmented colors in my experience …. I’ve noticed that LED lamps with a wattage over 35 has never given me an issue curing.
      Gel cure time with LED: base 10 sec, colors and top coat 30 sec.

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  2 года назад +3

      Hi! I can guarantee you the longevity of your manicure depends on the preparation of the nail and how the polish is applied. Rarely ever is it an issue with product including lamps. Now there are some LED lights that are just not strong enough and have an issue curing the gel but usually you’ll come across issues as you’re polishing the product and you see that it is not curing. Lasting mani almost always has to do with the nail prep and application

    I have never ever done my own nails before, and recently bought some things to start. Right now I have just spent about 10 minutes trying to cure a nail for the first time, and the varnish is still tacky. The lamp was a cheap one from Argos in the UK, only 18 watts. (LED.) But I don't understand how they can sell something that literally doesn't work. So frustrating!!

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  Год назад +3

      Hi! When gel polish cures it stays with a tacky layer but it won’t be wet to the point where you can wipe it off easy finish doing your coats and after the topcoat is cured you can wipe off the tacky layer with alcohol. Just get a cotton pad or ball put some alcohol on it and wipe the nails off after the topcoat is done. You can use a little bit of acetone but I really wouldn’t recommend it since the acetone essentially breaks the product down giving it a quick wipe with it won’t hurt it but it could make it a little bit dull.

I personally have not use the Gelish LED lamp but honestly can confidently tell you without a doubt that it would probably be an amazing lamp I love their brand overall. Hi. I noticed you said you’ve used lamps for 5+ years. I just finished nail school and I keep hearing you should replace a lamp every year, if you have clients everyday. If you’re a part time nail tech you can possibly use it for 2 years. But after that, the lamp is no good. Is this incorrect?
    In your opinion, when did the curing process start taking longer with an older lamp?

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  2 года назад +3

      Hi! It’s really hard to say exactly how long a UV or LED light is supposed to last but I can assure you those lights have thousands upon thousands of hours of curing time sometimes 10,000 sometimes 50,000 hours that is a lot of manicures. In my experience that is one thing that the more expensive higher and professional grade lamps do give is a long lasting curing time for the most part, I’ve noticed the cheaper ones that I’ve used although work really well generally start losing its intensity after about a year or so. Some manufactures might actually tell you how many thousands of hours you can expect but I don’t know if all lamp manufacture information would give you those details. I’ll start noticing when the intensity goes down two ways, if you pay enough attention you can notice the light is no longer as bright as it used to be and another way is when I apply the clearcoat I start seeing “bleeding” from the color coat on my clearcoat brush specially when I know that doesn’t happen at all if I start seeing the color bleed onto my clearcoat brush as I am applying it then I know the light is losing intensity and requires more time or just to get replaced. The longest lamp that I used was my artistic brand lamp I used it a little over five years before replacing it however back then I was doing up to six manicures a day right now I’m doing 10 to 12 manicures a day on my busiest days so the volume of work I was putting it through has definitely changed. A $20 lamp that I reviewed on my channel from Amazon lasted me about 9 to 10 months before I started questioning whether or not it was strong enough so I just changed it. Right now I am using Kiera sky I’ve been using that lamp for well over a year and it’s still going strong.

    So the first SUN UV lamp, do you think it would work with OPI gel nail colors and if so how many times would we need to place our hands under the light?
    Should it work with all gel nail polishes?

      Also the Ohuhu 20$ lamp would you say it’s better than the 50$ one?

      Unless a gel polish is UV specific, which these days is very uncommon back in the days all gels were only UV… LED was an advancement that was made over the last few years so these days all gels really should cure in an LED lamp or both Led and UV. I use a lot of OPI in the shop and I have been able to cure it with no problem with all the lamps that I’ve used over the last couple of years.
      Honestly both of them works so well I would say the only reason one is better is because it’s more affordable but I promise you any LED lamp that you get that is 35W or more will perform great. At least in my experience 35w or more is a sure deal.
      I hope this helps!

    What is the best cheap light for OPI gel polish?

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  2 года назад

      I have reviewed quite a few lights and so far the cheapest and still professional quality curing is ohuhu brand LED light on Amazon. I use a lot of different brands of gel polish most of them OPI although any LED light should care all Gels

      And to be honest, I have not come across a lamp that didn’t work good. Some are more convenient and more comfortable and roomy than others but every lamp I’ve tried whether it’s 20 bucks or $250 has worked continuously. As long as the lamp is 35 W or more from what I noticed it’s all that makes the difference. Those small lamps that are nine wants 12 wants they’re not really gonna work that great especially for really pigmented colors.
