Couldn’t really care less about other peoples plat scores, tables etc but I’d love to see a plat score based on rarity and difficult, where difficulty is based on plat achievers scores and rarity where difficulty is locked at the average vote for the time so any patches etc affect that portion and rarity is dynamic and changes daily. That way you could at least rate your efforts fairly
Lately I’ve been thinking it’s more fun and rewarding to just ignore leaderboards and try to go for platting entire franchises. One of my goals is to eventually plat every ps3, PS4 and ps5 resident evil game. Just seeing them all at 100% would be so satisfying. I want to do the same with Ratchet & Clank and From Software games
@@jaysony8587 definitely not, I actually wasn’t planning to plat re6, that and some of the bad spinoffs like operation raccoon city I don’t really have an interest in. I’d be satisfied with all the games except the stinkers of course
I'm so done with leaderboard content tbh. The answer is No and you shouldn't even want to. You can't expect to surpass a person that has been hunting for 14 years and nowadays mainly plays 1 minute plats. You would hate yourself, games and get burnt out. Play for yourself Play with friends. Compete amongst yourselves and maybe on Platbro discord. Otherwise just play for you
I think the fact that people can get this many platinum trophies from purchasing quick & easy games, just highlights how stupid it is to take it too seriously & actually be bothered by it. You get to the point where it isn’t even about gaming or enjoying a game, just about rarity & how it “looks on your profile” (to who exactly they never explain).
@@PlatinumBro trophy hunting started as a bastion of gamer pride and proving one’s gamer worth, but it’s now devolved into the equivalent of a pay-to-win mobile game
What first got me into Playstation trophy hunting was the trophy level. I used to care about trophy level, but now it's so easy to raise it with all the quick 5 minute platinums. Kinda sucks tbh, but I want to work on my backlog and finish a few AAA games
This is the reason why I'm not really interested in the leaderboards. It's nice to see the numbers go down but like you said there is a point where you can't improve your rank without playing a lot of these games with < 10 minute plats. Some developers aren't even hiding how lazy they are with these games. In the last few weeks I've seen a lot of these "Jumping [food]" games on the front page of psnprofiles. The dev releases them on different consoles, regions and even as a "Turbo edition" for a total of 8 stacks per game and then repeats this with a different food item.
I'd say points should be given according to average time it takes to platinum the game combined with difficulty. Like a sports bet with multiplier. That makes those tiny 10 minute games almost invalid.
@@PlatinumBro Yes that was I was thinking there should be a leaderboard that cancels out cross region and gen. Plus a sliding points scale for trophies with rarity/ownership/ difficulty factored in as a equation. More qualitive stats, but the big whales will still probably be at top.
time the leaderboards went mate. 😂 I'm slowly falling out of love with trophy hunting, I'm now playing a difficult game and I've set myself a target to 100% it by end of the year. I'm not rushing games for plats anymore. I have a good completion rate and that's good enough for me.
I’m top 500. I set a monthly budget on cheap easy games to finish quickly between work, life and longer harder platinums so I’m kinda half and half. I wish PSN Profiles had a separate leaderboard for trophy rarity or obscurity!! Like who has the most ultra rares, super rares and so on or who has the most trophies that others don’t have :)
It’s the same as in racing. Say you cross the finish line doing close to 200mph and the racer behind you crosses 20secs later. You might think oh 20secs isn’t that much. But think of it this way, stand at the finish line. That car crosses it going 200mph, you stand there for 20secs waiting on the next car that’s a lifetime. And the car that finished already is long gone.
Great video! Fine for people to care about the leaderboards, as long as they are taken for what they are - paying to get to the top, and playing games thrown together in a day to for the sake of harpooning anyone that cares more about seeing a trophy icon flash in the corner than what is happening on the rest of the screen. Would love to see some sort of leaderboard that takes into account difficulty, time to complete etc, but similarly this would likely be difficult to do and have problems if it's own. Would recommend everyone to play games that they enjoy/want to rather than playing it for the number - time in life is finite, so spend it as best you can! (in my view, a trophy list that only has crypt of the necrodancer on it is more impressive than most of the top 500 on psn profiles!)
Another great video Lewis. Always interesting to hear your thoughts on various topics surrounding trophies 🏆 Also do you have anything planned for 10k subs? So so close to it now it’s great to see your channel grow so much already! Keep up the great work dude!
I have to agree with you. When it comes to leader boards it's all about the quantity and not the quality so you have no choice but to play easy games. It's the main reason I don't bother with leader boards
For me this year it's just been about clearing as many games as I can that I just started playing and left unfinished (Going for Control 100% atm, and slowly grinding Brawhalla and MHW on and off). Already bought 2/4 games that I wanted to buy this year, with the only 2 remaining being GoW Ragnarok and Digimon Survive. Also, some of the higher ranked accounts on PSN network could just be multiple people running different games on few consoles, but that's a different topic regarding the trophy list in general.
Really would wish these leaderboards would take a leaf out of Joel's book and award points for how difficult that Platinum is would already make the leaderboards more easier and appealing and I say that as someone who has earned over 100 of these cash grab Platinums
It's always nice to see your ranking go up, but because of the state of things, I'm not all that fussed... I think once I'm in the top 10,000 in the world (which I already am) and also top 1,000 in the UK (Currently 1,166) I'll be fine with that, going higher will be nice but not completely possible
You have to have fun like you said. Been taking your advice to enjoy the new Turtles game. Going to play Hades and you got me interested in the Aliens game.
I agree with the barrier aspect. I've basically been stuck at 6200-ish in country rank for quite a while. Weather I play easy games, middle games, or normal games, I'm always still somewhere around 6200. 6226 currently. Now I am in America so that's probably a pretty good number for the amount of gamers this country has but I feel I've stagnated at that general spot. Plus the bigger the games are that you play, the longer it takes you to earn each trophy, the more you slip DOWN the rank. So most players will probably hit some sort of plateau sooner than later.
I only really pay attention to my own country leaderboards, I know I will likely never top the top 50 in my country(canada), but I like to give myself realistic goals. My 2022 goal is to crack the top 225, currently 250 or so😃😀
my wish would be that we could filter out these grubby plats on the PS store.... hate going there and seeing all these games and due to artwork sometimes missing some indie gems
The first list you showed was why I hated my first profile to the point where I had to delete it. Those games aren't the best looking or any good gameplay wise and why I stopped playing them all together, but to each their own I guess..people will do anything to be the best-
Leaderboards are one thing but to me personally the best trophy hunter is one that has as high a completion rate as they can by playing games they enjoy and games that’s worth the money they spend
I've never really been that much of a Leaderboard hunter. I just set personal milestone. My goal this year was to reach 200 Plats. I'm glad to be at 227 Plats right now so my next goal will be 250 Plats, but I'm not sure when that will be.
and here i am happy with just 21 platinum and it sucks cause i have alot of PlayStation 3 games that will never be finished cause they have multiplayer trophies but idk care i still loving to plat my games its just fun.
If they wanted to make it a more worthwhile and varied thing they could take average time to platinum into account against actual time of the player, and give each game a difficulty rating to platinum (not based on number of people who do it) and multiply the games value per trophy by that.
Checked some of those high ranked people and I mostly see easy games in different versions and on multiple plattforms. Seems like they really miss out on all those great games.
It's funny(at least for me) how competitive people can become, I used to be top 1 in my country's leaderboard, then a guy told me there was another one that tried to overtake that position to be #1, and I was like who f***ing cares, I get plats because that's how I enjoy games, not to be competitive getting easy plats to be ranked in a leaderboard. At the end, he achieved that goal with over 880 plats, most of them easy ones, but I was careless all the time about that. Basically, for me that's how I enjoy games(not only finishing them but taking more advantage of what they offer) and I don't care about rankings, nobody will ever pay me for that lol.
Wow, while watching this video I decided to take a look at the leaderboards. 7 months has passed. ikemenzi has kept their leadership, but now has 7100 plats. Second person has 7394. That is really insane to think about.
If you started a new account and only platinum grubby games, you could definitely get top 1000 maybe top 500, Depending on how much free time and money you have. But if you only get platinums that take a decent amount of time to platinum, You definitely wouldn't be able to get top 500
I agree with you, playing games other than those fast platinums, it's impossible to reach these people, I have a new account, less than a year old, I have 66 platinums so far, but 17 of them are these fast platinums and for me, it was the maximum, it's not my type of game, I even play a bad game just for the platinum, or I stop playing a good game, because of an almost impossible trophy, but these easy platinums actually the 17 I have are enough .
I had to abandon my Resident Evil Village platinum. The mercenaries mode is just too difficult for me. I only had 3 stages left but I've decided to throw in the towel. Very disappointed in myself tbh
I used to play these really easy plats, and it made me hate trophy hunting. I don't recommend going for top spots on the leaderboard. Just play what you enjoy.
Everyone has there own way of playing games & trophy hunting. I agree there is no way you can be anywhere near the top even if you played every single grubby game with all its stacks. Since the ps4 the trophy system changed where nearly every game had a platinum trophy. In my opinion the PS3 system was better where the likes of the grubby type games were gold, silver & bronze trophies (no plat) I can see 2 ways around making things equal or fairer for everyone. 1. Simply revert back to no plats on games less than say 4 hours gameplay, but you can argue the damage has been done. 2. PSN profiles to split the leaderboard into 2 tiers, 2 leaderboards 1 for pure numbers other for quality in platinums earned. Either way alot of work would be required so my guess nothing will change, oh also don't allow autopop (it's pretty much the same as using a game save which if you done it on ps3 examples are fuel, socom etc psn profiles didn't allow you to be on leaderboard
I'd rather take my family on a trip or buy another car with the money it would take to get to #1 on grub board, but that's just me. Good for them if it makes them happy though.
Idk sounds like a delectable challenge to me. Reaching no.1 on the leaderboard, definitely a monumental task without the grubs and stacks. However reaching page 1 in your own nation is possible. 1.6k Plat average, lots of variables, I could do that at least. Page 1 with 0 jumping tacos. I'm going to start right now
I really gotta wonder if these multiple “easy plat” runs are even fun for the people cranking them out all the time or if it’s simply a competitive dopamine hit. Personally I’ve only seen ranks as a casually fun way to compare with friends, and just enjoy playing the games you want to play.
What I don’t like is on the top of the leaderboards they play the easy games about 6 times per game they play the eu version, us version, Asian version, ps4 version, ps5 version, vita version. Let’s only have 1 set of trophies for a game so if you plat a game on ps4 it’s platinumed on every console. So people can’t fiddle the system as much
I think I'd only platinum a game that I would recomend to other people as a good game. Sort of like a movie, I wouldnt watch a bad movie and waste my time like a grubby platinum.
Has anyone here been using exophase instead of PSNProfiles? It gives points based on rarity, so a bronze could easily be worth more than a platinum. Its not perfect. Easy games are still worth more than I'd like, but it finally lets my friend and I compete again. I have 50 more platinums than him, but his are all really long racing games so he actually beats me out on exophase EXP.
Reason those ppl are playing that jumping sandwich or hotdog whatever it is. cause it just came out clearly showing there outta easy plats 😅 waiting patiently for their next grub lol
from what ive seen from following along with other games world top 100's, i believe a rather 'slow' but consistent approach will still earn you a nice ranking after a few years. But I agree with what you said about the top, that might still only be for the 10-minute plat 'abusers' :D What psn trophy hunting really needs is a point system, to fairly weigh harder, longer games to be worth more.
i think i could become the no1 trophy hunter, just give me 10million dollars, like 500cheese burgers a month and just like that i'll be the next hakoo... ikemenzi
I used to play shitty games for platinum after a while i felt realy off over getting platinum because it has no value after popping the last trophy of thses 10 mins games but when i gave up upon it and started the ones which i like to get it turned out that i missed out a lot of fun games so right now im playing to get (enter the gungeon, xcom2 and desperados 3) its what trophy hunters try to get not my name is mayo
You can't compete with the top if you don't get those cheap platinums and even by the time you get to 1000 platinums with those games, they'll have earned even more so with just legit games it's impossible.
Last year I had 105 plats. Now I have 1,238. I do plan on going to the top. I just hope my wallet survives it. Awesome video as always. It was nice to see my name in there.
I stopped playing for Leaderboards since this 5min plats started to be everywhere. Still playing some Ratalaika and other 5h max games but mostly normal stuff and i dropped 1000-2000 places on the leaderboard so damn fast. So to be high on the leaderboards you have to buy platinums. Yeah it's nothing else than that since this "games" are definitly no fun and only exist cause of the trophy hunter community.
Those guys in top 1000 are all addicted to trophies. If you spend thousands of dollars on those trash "games" that aren't fun at all something's wrong with you. Only solution would be valuing plats by rarity or difficulty which is harder because not all games have guides but also not all ultra rare games are hard, i'm not even going to talk about stacking system is just broken...
@@PlatinumBro It’s crazy bro. When I get paid I try to put money in each account. Eu, as, jp regions. I can just buy my north american playstation cards and use my credit card for NA region. Most times I buy games 10 at a time. I try to platinum those ten and then get ten more. Most times I buy a few here and there. It gets very expensive and I always seem to spend more than i plan. I then work more hours so I have more money lol. The issue with that is that I’m sometimes too tired to game. Lol. I also like to stick to one huge a list game at a time. I’m playing hades now but may jump back and forth to crash bandicoot 1. I have notebooks where I write down when games I already bought will be available in other regions. I make lists of games coming out and ones I left behind that I have to finish. While doing this I try to also keep this main youtube channel active with content for my 1,850 or 1,840 subscribers( It goes up and down lol). I also use my matrixlord212 gaming channel to just list my achievements. I’m going for my 27,000th trophy and shooting for 1,300 platinums! I try to play whatever i can to maintain my rankings but love to just relax and play stuff like hades and turtles. With Doctor Who coming back I will be doing my show(podcast) The Real Whovians Cast! Hopefully I can keep moving up the ranks. Trying to get in the 60s in my country and under 400 in the world. Love your videos!
The leaderboard is pretty meaningless these days with all the EZPZ platinum games out there now. Most people at the top, those are the only kind of games they play in 98% of cases and they buy/platinum each one like 3-4 times each just to get all the stacks. If you play real games it's impossible to even compete which is why I don't even bother looking at the leaderboards anymore. It doesn't matter.
ngl, it's kinda pathetic how these people at the top waste sooo much time, energy and money on completely insignificant nonsense. I trophy hunt myself, but I have a life beside it, which doesn't seem the case for these guys. this is just uncontrollably obsessive. and I can't take people with such lists seriously.
I'd rather have a decent profile with hard ultra rare trophies and games than playing a ton of shovelware to get up the top of the leaderboard. None of them profiles are in any way impressive. Stacking ten of the same 2 minute games blahhhh. Anyone can do that... but why would you want to?! I don't get it tbh... I used to play these really easy plats, and it made me hate trophy hunting. I don't recommend going for top spots on the leaderboard. Just play what you enjoy.
Same happened to me mate
Lewis i started an 2th account about a week mate i got 59 plats in that time and thats me playing life is strange and far cry 3 classic lol mate 👍👍👍
Wow!
@@PlatinumBro Granted a pile of crap cheap quick plats Lewis.
Dam bro your getting so close to 10k
I’ve watched you so many times and I’ve only just realised I’m not subbed, sorry bro! I’ve subbed!!!
Thanks for the sub!
No idea buddy
What I don’t like is on the top of the leaderboards they play the easy games about 6 times per game they play the eu version, us version, Asian version, ps4 version, ps5 version, vita version. Let’s only have 1 set of trophies for a game so if you plat a game on ps4 it’s platinumed on every console. So people can’t fiddle the system as much
Preach bro!
Thanks!
I think I'd only platinum a game that I would recomend to other people as a good game. Sort of like a movie, I wouldnt watch a bad movie and waste my time like a grubby platinum.
I think I'm fine sitting at my very comfortable 19 platinums lol
Hahha that’s totally fair
I think…maybe if only do 1-3 hour games but at that point idk
Not sure there would be any point
Im a beginner, i don't care about leaderboards but getting #1 in my country seems fairly easy
Good luck with it! I’ll cross my fingers for you
@@PlatinumBro thanks im ranked around 400 on the leaderboards in my country and i only have 29 plats
Quality over quantity is what I like.
Reason those ppl are playing that jumping sandwich or hotdog whatever it is. cause it just came out clearly showing there outta easy plats 😅 waiting patiently for their next grub lol
Mouth watering when they see the trophy list
from what ive seen from following along with other games world top 100's, i believe a rather 'slow' but consistent approach will still earn you a nice ranking after a few years. But I agree with what you said about the top, that might still only be for the 10-minute plat 'abusers' :D
What psn trophy hunting really needs is a point system, to fairly weigh harder, longer games to be worth more.
I’ve never cared about any leaderboard. There’s always someone that is willing to spend more time/money than you
Best way to be and so so true
i think i could become the no1 trophy hunter, just give me 10million dollars, like 500cheese burgers a month and just like that i'll be the next hakoo... ikemenzi
Hakoom is skilled player unlike ikemenzi
Hahahhahahaha I think this is an experiment worth funding. If I was rich I would pay someone to do it for the lolz
@@dedios5687 yeah he is good
Trying to throw bloodborne and crash in there as well.
So true man
You can't compete with the top if you don't get those cheap platinums and even by the time you get to 1000 platinums with those games, they'll have earned even more so with just legit games it's impossible.
110% agree
I don’t want to be the best. When you’re the best everyone ms looking to take you down. I’d rather just hunt and enjoy my kill.
haha so true
When you're getting a ps5 and going for the world record 1st place
💎🏆💙💛🇺🇸🇬🇧🇭🇰🇯🇵🎮
God speed
No way you can keep up with these dudes getting 10 plats in the same game and games i've never knew they existed
Dont know why this is even a question. If people are arguing that they can reach the top without easy cheap plats then they need their wires tested.
Hahahha they really do but I was proving a point
I’m looking for someone to just casually platinum games with, im currently sitting at just about 40! let me know if that’s you
check out my discord buddy :)
How about we compare how many ultra rare trophies? A leaderboard of how many ultra rare trophies a player has?
now that is a good idea
I’m fine with my 130,000 world rank 😂
you should be my guy, that's good
i dont give a f about them thankfully lol, for me its just about playing games i want to play and look back on my list with great memories
that's what it should be for us all
Those guys in top 1000 are all addicted to trophies. If you spend thousands of dollars on those trash "games" that aren't fun at all something's wrong with you. Only solution would be valuing plats by rarity or difficulty which is harder because not all games have guides but also not all ultra rare games are hard, i'm not even going to talk about stacking system is just broken...
1,000 a month. It gets very, very expensive.
Definitely I was being modest with the cost. 1000 plats probably costs £2.5-3k
I average 100 plats plus a month.
Well dam, easy games?
@@PlatinumBro some. Lol
I’m #4. Lol
There’s always the rarity based leaderboards on exophase and psntrophyleaders, at least normal games count for something there
ngl, it's kinda pathetic how these people at the top waste sooo much time, energy and money on completely insignificant nonsense. I trophy hunt myself, but I have a life beside it, which doesn't seem the case for these guys. this is just uncontrollably obsessive. and I can't take people with such lists seriously.
It is quite the long term commitment for sure
plat god of war 4
I have too buddy
I'd rather have a decent profile with hard ultra rare trophies and games than playing a ton of shovelware to get up the top of the leaderboard. None of them profiles are in any way impressive. Stacking ten of the same 2 minute games blahhhh. Anyone can do that... but why would you want to?! I don't get it tbh... I am the BEST cos I'm proud of my own achievements, don't need to be top of the leaderboard for that 😊
I don’t care about others lists but that’s just a yuck list
fair play bro
Not worth it if you only get to play shitty games in order to remain competitive.
So true
"playing for trophies" not sure we can call this playing at this point. Tose are not even games to me.
