@@cookie.2118 Season 4 is a good season but this was when it became harder to take the show seriously. There was also no more grey area and Cobra Kai were officially the villains this time around. S1-2, it was 50/50 with Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do both having pros and cons. During Season 3, Cobra Kai obviously started heading to a much darker route and by the finale it was obvious that they have turned to the dark side with Kreese in charge. That doesn’t make it a bad thing necessarily as it’s needed for the purpose of the story but when the show is called Cobra Kai and they are purely the villains with no grey area, it makes them hard to root for. Another reason why I prefer Season 3 is the dojo split. It was so frustrating and petty to see Daniel and Johnny regress back into rivalry as it was painfully obvious that in order to beat Cobra Kai, they would HAVE TO merge together. Now I get that drama has to take place in order to advance the plot and it would also mean no Devon if this didn’t happen but it’s just frustrating to watch as a fan when you know the decisions are wrong. I know it did technically have a good pay off at the All Valley with Daniel and Johnny teaming up to coach Sam but it was too little too late and this is how Cobra Kai won (with some cheating obviously). The All Valley didn’t seem right this season with it feeling more empty than the Season 1 version and I prefer the old system of fighters beating their opponents fair and square rather than relying on a points system to determine a winning dojo. Also I didn’t like the teen drama with Sam/Miguel and Tory/Robby but I say that almost every season with those four. Overall Season 4 is still a great season but it started the trend of silly and goofy scenes that made the show harder to enjoy and much unneeded drama. Not the worst season by any means but not my favourite.

The plot of Season 3 basically boils down to "Cobra Kai becomes pure evil and it's just a good versus evil battle" and the complexity of the plot was stripped away. Instead of the thick juicy questions around "who is in the wrong" in any given situation, it became very clearly "Cobra Kai is awful and evil so they are of course wrong in every scenario". Added on top of that were kind of shaky character motivations from Hawk and weird relationship flip-flopping that felt kind of like a terrible teen drama. Yeah, it has a lot of filler also. It is a aftermath Season so that is to be expected.

Tory going to Cobra Kai doesn't make sense, considering the fact that she has a baby brother to take care of after her mother death... Come to think of it, I think the writers forgot about Tory's brother.

I agree with everything you said, even though I liked season 5 I could see the problems starting to arise with the character development and the story telling. For example in the first two episodes of season 5 with Miguel going to Mexico to find his father, that was a story line that lead to nowhere and kinda seemed like a waste of time.
If they would make Daniel and Johnny clash again, they might as well carry the development they had from Seasons 4 and 5. I wish they had Season 6 open up with Daniel having nightmares of Silver and being unable to overcome the Cobra Kai in him and then Daniel wakjng up and brushing it off like its nothing (because he is reassuring himself Silver is in jail already) and continue training the kids like a normal day. Miyagi's dark secret would've been a good opportunity for writers to have Daniel let Silver's past come back to haunt him (mentally) and have Daniel question and slowly betray Miyagi's ways and act rather rash and aggressive towards the students during Sekai Takai preparation. I would've loved to see a more balanced Johnny confront and maybe fight an already scattered and reckless Daniel to bring him back to his senses. As for Miguel and Robby, it doesnt matter who wins or lose but have them have a friendly, no egos match. But should they make Miguel win, have Miguel tell the senseis that Robby should be captain and give him the position. He will say it doesnt matter who the better fighter is, Robby has better leadership, is more experienced teaching kids, and has been through so much to come back from the bottom. Or it would've been better to end it with Season 5 with Kreese having regrets of his dirty actions and dying in jail.
This first part was so disjointed, with weird cuts and just in general bad story. Like kenny teleporting from one batting cage to another, and shawn telling robby that he missed his chance with kenny then telling kenny to join the karate, and stingray telling Johnny to reopen cobra kai and it LOOKS like Johnny is considering it and right the next scene he is fine with Miyagi do being Miyagi do. Also, this show was at its best when it explored Johnny and Miguel's friendship, and at first this show was about them. Now it seems like they are being sidelined. I really hope Miguel wins the tournament again.

I kept asking myself during several scenes, "what is the point of this?" and "aren't we past this already?" A lot of this does feel like filler, I agree there. Let's hope this season is redeemed with part 2, which I have a felling it will be.

I agree. They need to go back and edit it and add some scenes in that they left out. And they need to make the opening scenes have sounds and be actual scenes with music instead of just being completely silent with just music.
I felt like the characters regressed back to their early Season 4 selves. Why Miguel and Robby are suddenly one upping each other when in Season 5, they EASILY came to an agreement to let Hawk represent in the qualifier match against Cobra Kai. Even Daniel and Johnny in Season 5 barely fought with each other.
Yes, it was weak. But the frat party was to tell us what happens to Kyler and Bruggs after the show ends. And we know that Aisha went to UC Santa Cruz (a first-rate party school). The split between Hawk and Demitri came out of nowhere. There should have been some foreshadowing. The Miyagi chest seemd like a ploy to make us await the positive resolution that we already know will come. Sean turning Kenny around was also too easy and not believable. The best part was Tory's appearance at the tournament. She looked dead inside, which is what she was feeling.
Sam didn’t have any “wrongdoings” to admit to and I’m tired of people equating what Sam and Tory did. Committing attempted murder twice and breaking into someone’s home is not the equivalent to accusing someone who you know is a thief of stealing your mother’s wallet. Also, Tory’s “apology” was not sufficient to cover the extent of the damage that she caused and they never acknowledged Sam’s PTSD during that conversation.
It would have been interesting to see Johnny and Daniel finally be buddy buddy in this season. Kind of like Goku and Vegeta in the Buu Saga. But instead we're back to rehashed plot points that have been resolved a thousand times. And the reason why you're seeing a lot of these plot points be rehashed, is because usually the writers don't stick with anything for too long and they end every subplot way too early. And when they can't think of anything for their characters to do, they just have them switch sides or develop a beef with someone. Only for them to inevitably resolve that issue in like a few episodes. Also I didn't mind Miguel and Robby fighting again and Robby getting his win, because it seems like Miguel wasn't entirely focused or something. But the absolute dog shit that they have put Hawk through when he should easily be in the top 3 is insane. Even after He won the All Valley, no one really even acknowledged it. Then they had him job out to Kenny for no reason. And you think it's to set up Kenny as a bigger threat, but then Kenny immediately gets outclassed by other members of Miyagi-Do, and then shits his pants in the next season. So there was no reason to do Hawk dirty like that. No reason to do Kenny dirty like that either, but that's another story. And then they have Hawk and Demetri have some forced drama, that we're supposed to see both sides of. Dimitri just comes off like a whiny hater, and Hawk is being the rational one. And they still hand him an L for no reason. Then he gets the consolation spot after Tori leaves miyagi-do. And what's really annoying is that when Miguel, Robby, Tori, and Sam are talking about potential participants for the tournament, they only mentioned that Tori and Miguel are former champions, and don't mention Hawk. The guy who's still the champion and didn't have a referee help him win like Tori did. Oh and why is Daniel upset at Johnny for fighting Mike Barnes? Didn't Daniel do literally the same thing last season? And Johnny was only defending himself. This is again forced drama to cause a conflict that doesn't need to happen. Daniel just comes off like a complete prick when his character should be above this at this point. And Johnny has been sidelined so much in his own damn show that it's insane. I was legitimately rooting for him to bring back Cobra Kai when stingray asked him to. That's what this whole premise was originally about anyway. Now Cobra Kai is just a generic goon squad again, with only one or two people of relevance to the plot on it's side. Tori joining Cobra Kai kind of felt rushed but at least it makes sense. Also she looks sexy as hell in the black Cobra Kai gi, so I'm not really complaining.

Johnny and Daniel are only fighting because the writers wanna have this moment where they come together again to inspire the kids to work through there problems im already calling it. I love Miguel and Robby’s relationship so having the fight imo was a slap in the face of there development last season and it created this version of Miguel that felt so forced and not like himself. Hawk and Dimitri fighting feels so weird to me because like they only did it just so Dimitri could be in the team but then they realized “oh wait we just made unresolved plot line because they won’t be together” so they had to get Tory out. Hawk and Kenny are done so dirty that I’m actually curious if the actors who play them had any problems or notes given to the writers. Kenny should’ve easily been top 5 but no “they have to be different and unexpected so let’s make him crap himself instead” Hawk shouldn’t even be a debate he beat Robby and won the all valley like what meth were the writers on when picking the team? @@mr.4k_ Kenny got done so dirty this season It's insane. I didn't even really care for him that much as a character. A lot of it just had to do with the resentment I had for him beating Hawk. Like yeah Hawk wasn't really going all out, there was a crooked ref involved, and Kenny used the Silver Bullet. But it was just an unnecessary loss, that was especially embarrassing because they just had Miguel and Robby go to bat for Hawk to get his moment in this fight. That being said, I feel really bad for Kenny this season. First he and his brother get assaulted by four people at the batting cages because he doesn't wanna do karate anymore. Then his brother randomly for no reason at all changed his mind and thought it was a good idea for Kenny to join Miyagi-Do. And once Kenny reluctantly agrees, mostly everyone is immediately hostile towards him. They weren't even this mean to Penis-breath, and you know that dude be smelling like the inside of an old lunchbox. And I'm not talking about the metal ones, I'm talking them weird soft ones made out of rubber or something. Any food you bring has that weird moldy musk to it after you put in there. And he's got to deal with the worst character on the show, Anthony Larusso. Who I swear is proof that the writers secretly hate the Larusso's. It's bad enough that Daniel is kind of a self righteous prick who literally prays to Miyagi. He probably apologizes to Miyagi each time he jerks off or sum shit. And Samantha is easily the least interesting of the main group of kids (Miguel, Robby, Hawk, Tori, Sam) and is pretty annoying. But Anthony is so unlikable, and bland as hell. He also has a very punchable face and he just seems like a huge waste of potential for someone who's literally the son of the main character of the karate kid franchise. I get they were trying to do something different, but in doing so, they've made me just hate this character. But you'd think since it was Robby's idea in the first place to get Kenny to join Miyagi-Do, that he'd have his back and be mentoring him. But not really. In fact they barely, if not at all, interact with each other after Kenny joins. It is very similar to last season when the only two plot relevant characters that were in Cobra Kai, where Tori and Kenny and I think they maybe had one or two lines of dialogue shared with each other. Then his drink gets spiked, and he shits his pants in front of everyone, including his former bully, Lapusso. And they all laugh at him. Meanwhile Robby is staring aimlessly, instead of going to console Kenny. Like Fr, if I'm Kenny, I'm immediately joining Cobra Kai. He joins Miyagi-Do for like a week and his life went to shit. They be setting this kid up for a school shooter arc. 😂
I agree. This season has been a disaster so far especially at the very end. It started out on the right track and then suddenly everything fell apart near the end. Things can still improve in part 2 as well as in part 3. One thing I did like about the frat party by the way was Kyler and Brucks turning over a new leaf

Part 1 was clearly rushed. It always felt like a good portion of realism left since season 2 or maybe 3, but it wasn’t THAT bad. But in season 6 it feels like the writers overdosed just a little bit on coke, both the powder and the drink. Kreese is a marvel villain lmao, and also in the cobra Kai verse the police suck. A fugitive can randomly travel across the entire world and no one knows a thing? Daniel also has had zero character development the entire series, he hasn’t evolved at all, and Johnnys character seems kind of over the top. It just seems like they crammed 10 episodes into 5, they left some of my favorite plot lines in the dark, and only focused on unnecessary and repetitive ones. Who knows? Maybe it’s just because it’s part 1, and we haven’t given it time, so it’s unfair to write off the entire season right now. I am hoping they fill in the many plot holes that they left in part 1, and they resolve the unnecessary drama between some of these characters, including Johnny and Daniel. I also hope they toned down the marvel villain theme, and Kreese actually becomes somewhat a person again. Although I will say I’m liking Kwon a lot, he seems to fit in pretty well, also I think Hawks plot line is finally gonna evolve again.
@@javierlopez9789 they're about the same level of skills, both basically having the same move sets and training. I think giving Robby a boost by seeing his girlfriend in order to win was unnecessary and unrealistic. Robby isn't better than Miguel, Miguel isn't better than Robby. It would have been a smarter decision for the writers to end their match with a tie, like how they stupidly did with Daniel and Johnny in Season 4 but this would have made sense.
Not saying Robby didn’t deserve to win just think it was done wrong and me saying Miguel should have won isn’t me glazing I would just rather see our main character win in the final season of the show. Thanks for the comment!

I heavily disagree, they genuinely became friends especially in season 5. The idea of them being opposing sides was finally over and they reiterated in episode 1 of season six.

I laughed hysterically at the scene where he's tripping balls in the cave. Also it seemed like his character regressed a lot. I felt like in season 4 and 5 he was sort of having a redemption arc. It seemed like there were some missing scenes in the last episode...they just casually skipped over the fact that Tory's mom died and went straight to the tournament. They didn't show any scenes of her interactions with the group after they learned of her mother's passing. Surely her boyfriend and her friends would have been there to comfort her, and the fact that they don't show Tory's brother throughout the whole plot of her mom dying is really weird. Maybe they'll show more of this in part 2 with some flashbacks? Make it make sense.
I really liked the part 1. However, my problem with it was how it kept cutting back to the kids after the scenes of Kreese in Korea. It was like a pattern and was a bit predictable.

Not very many people seem to like Cobra Kai season 6? I keep hearing that they are the weakest episodes. All the pettiness between Daniel and Johnny needs to end!! They just need to get along, they’re two grown middle aged men, enough with the rivalry. Same goes with Miguel and Robbie and Sam and Tory, we’ve already seen enough of it in the first 3 seasons!
Season 6 makes season 5 look ultra classic and most of us know there was major cracks in the facade in V. Serious question. How did LaPusso all the sudden become some fierce fighter for even Daniel to consider him for the tournament ? Who made him a warrior? At the end of 5 he was still a LaPusso 😂. At least Kenny’s plot armour was slow and gradual. Robby’s got girly hair again. He looked best in seasons 4-5. He almost looked like Mike Barnes at the tournament s4. 👍🏻 I’ve only watched season 6 shows twice. Not even sure I want to go back. It’s really that stupid.

I think saying Kreese hasn't changed since s2 is like the dumbest take. He's got backstory now and his perspective on characters like Johhny has seriously altered. I don't like the Sekai Taikai; first of all, I don't like the name Sekai and Taikai, which just means World Tournament, like what? Why don't you make the name cooler, like an abbreviation, maybe like IKC (International Karate Competition) which in my opinion, sounds cooler and easier to say, hell what sports association runs this tournament? There has been no mention of an association that runs the tournament which is... suspicious. Second, what is it with the team events? Combat sports have always been Individualistic sports; why would you need to add team events in a martial arts tournament? And the team structure, why do we need captains? Why can't we just have a normal tournament structure or why can we just run the tournament like it's the Olympics? One section is for Kata (the art) and the other is for Kumite (the fighting). Also I would like to add, the fact that there are no weight classes in the tournament is dumb. In conclusion, I find the Sekai Taikai to be a distaste, it's not for me.

Tory has NOT been constantly flip flopping, she has been in CK from 2-5 with the exception of the last 3 episode of S5. 2. I can’t believe you said this season has problems because he lost. It was just rushed. I enjoyed the frat stuff. But a lot of storylines were underdeveloped. It was a good setup but they should’ve released the first 10 and then the last 5 later. Made it 2 parts.
@@AB23YT no. Not because of that. For example, we don’t see Kenny or Robby interact with each other outside of episode 1. We’ve seen only handful of impactful scenes between Robby and Daniel since S3 but that’s not just this part tho. Tory’s mom in introduced to the season and killed all within a few minutes.
The potential for Chozen is extremely high but there not using it and as for Kreese he should literally be dead because of the cobra or prision because how the hell did he manage to make it to Korea and Spain. Appreciate The Comment
We want more Johnny Lawerence and his family and Julie Pierce, not Daniel Larusso, we already have Karate Kid movies for Daniel Larusso and Jaden Smith. Also it needs an explanation of Tory coming back to Cobra Kai and I think the season is overall mediocre as of right now. I missed how Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do are both styles have flaws and one is not better than the other. Why did the writers make the show about Miyagi-Do good and Cobra Kai bad when we are already have that in the Karate Kid movies, we don’t need the same plot as the movies, we need a different plot beat than just than. My Season rankings now that I cleared my head and reviewed this Seasons of Cobra Kai- Seasons 1- Season 2 episode 8: 9.9/10 (The concept of both fighting styles are good, but flawed is what they should of kept that Miguel x Tory and Robby x Sam should of continued dating until the next season if they want Sam x Miguel and Tory x Robby is the only flaw in this, but it is good otherwise. Season 2 episode 9- Season 4: 3.5/10 (Sam’s panic attack and her struggles are real and her conquering that is good, but it is more about Miyagi-Do good and Cobra Kai bad which irritates me that they changed their minds to mimic the movies in the 80’s which we already had and I am sick and tired of it. Sam and Miguel also kissing is bad and Moon should not have had the party at her house which escalated the situation at the High School worse, I know she was trying to help, but group therapy would of helped more than a party.) Season 5: 6.5/10 (Sam misunderstanding Tory is bad and Tory doing the same thing is worse, but it gives us an opportunity for them to understand each other a little bit more. Sam figures out who she is and also helps Tory is good. Honestly I do believe that they try to get into the angel of the Senseis are bad Senseis, but Cobra Kai was better when Johnny took over it, but it missed the mark a bit. Silver is a psychopath and the only villain that is not redeemed which is good and Krese should have died this season , but didn’t is bad. Kim Da-eun maybe crazy and uptight, but she is a good villain as well. The acting is getting better and I love it). Season 6, so far: 6.5/10 (I love the addition of the new characters, the acting is good and so are the costumes. I don’t like that Devon lost their edge and Tory went back to Cobra Kai without an explanation, but I understand Tory’s lost since I just lost a family member due to lost and her not wanting to tell anyone right away just shows that she is still shocked by the news and needs time to process it I love how it portrays the emotional depth of her character and how important her mom is to her.

A few good scenes do not a good season make.Almost two years waiting to watch a makeshift slumber party, a newspaper clipping depicting your hero as a petty thief, a loser perjurer training under aged children in the woods and a poor kid running through the woods to crap his pants...yeah...great season...NOT. Next we will have Miyagi Do v The Flying Saucers. And it is ok for you to be negative. You gave an excellent review. Like the saying goes, this show has overstayed its welcome. I also strongly agree with you that the show should have ended at Season 5. I have gone on record on other sites that Season 5 should have been the last Season. As you aptly pointed out, all of the major conflicts-Robbie/Miguel; Johnny/Danny; Tori/Samantha had been ironed out. Cobra Kai was defeated, and Terry Silver was arrested. Kreese escaping like a James Bond villain was interesting, but it didn't matter. He was already defeated a number of times (which is why he called for Terry Silver for reinforcement) and he would have been freed anyway due to Stingray's perjured testimony (who himself should have been incarcerated). I am somewhat at a loss as to why everyone is talking about Kreese as a fugitive. Sting Ray recanted his false testimony in Season 5 (and in fact, he should be incarcerated for perjured testimony) Season 5 debuted September 9, 2022. It has been nigh on two years since we have seen anything new. Moreover, it wasn't until January 20, 2023 that we learned that Cobra Kai was going to be renewed by NETFLIX for a sixth and thank god final season. My guess is that the producers of Cobra Kai went into Season 5 with the mindset that IT WAS PROBABLY GOING TO BE THE LAST SEASON-which why it feels that Season 5 should have been the end in the last episode. I think the producers probably thought that way also, but to hedge their bets in Season5 they threw in a 2 minute obscure reference to the Sakai Tekai tournament in a Kreese flashback and allowed Kreese to escape the prison...just in case there was another Season. As for Season 6 Part 1, it's the "Same old song and dance my friend". I think as a foreshadowing to this was the delay of filming this season due to the writers strike, and to me was just another omen that the series should have ended at Season 5. They keep using this Stop/drive and reverse technique. For the umpteenth time Johnny and Danny join forces...for about 1/2 a week they work together, then a few days later it goes in reverse and they are adversaries again. It is getting played out. Additionally, by resolving the major plot conflicts of Season 5, there is nothing left. They try to reignite old conflicts or start new ones that just fizzle. Demetri mad because Hawk didn't apply to MIT ? Also, Hawk can only apply to one school-which is why he didn't apply to MIT ? Is there a limit to the amount of schools he can apply to ? Then Tory quits Cobra Kai-so now Hawk gets to go to the tournament by default? They nerfed Hawk in Season 5..and now he is getting further devalued. And to top it off, the episodes are filled with fuller. We waited almost two years for Season 6, and what do we get for it: We see Kenny run back from the woods to crap in his pants, watch Johhny host a slumber party for girls, and have Daniel discover a vault under a bed (which never would have been found had Chosen not moved in) with a newspaper clipping showing that his hero was once a two bit thug who stole a necklace. The fans waited two years for this ??? This show sucks.

I feel like a lot of your claims have little weight mainly because the same issues you mentioned can be found in every season of the show. When you simplify everything this is a show about two different types of karate dojos going against each other while also exploring the personal lives of the students, sensei’s and parents in a overdramatized fashion to be entertaining. None of this shit is realistic and the plot lines in season 6 make as much sense as any plot line from any other season in the show. Cobra Kai is cheesy and corny, but it is still a fun watch with lots of awesome fight scenes, funny moments, heartfelt sequences and overall an engaging tv show. Definitely has its flaws but you’re making them seem like a much bigger deal than what they are.
The plot lines in season 6 make as much sense really?? So explain to me how Kreese survived a cobra bite and how as a wanted criminal he be traveled to Korea then back to the US then to Spain. Believe me I love the show and I wouldn’t be criticizing it if it wasn’t necessary but this season had so many more obvious flaws compared to other seasons that they honestly can’t be ignored even if the show is fun. It’s been noted that he was only in there for a few years and never went back after he lost the tournament against Daniel, yet 40 years later he can remember all the lessons and is able to teach them verbatim and is still an expert himself after not training for so long? How is it possible that Silver and Kreese can still manage to kick everyone’s ass when they should be 70rs old in the karate kid timeline? How is it possible that Kenny became the most powerful fighter in the cobrai Kai universe and while being one of the smallest and least experienced students? The show honestly should’ve ended with season 2. I would never call Cobra Kai a “masterpiece” or a “great show.” But at least it had something to it - each season has progressively gotten stupider and stupider to a point where nothing can be taken seriously anymore. Like, Kreese got arrested, broke out of jail, somehow travelled to Korea and is participating in a global karate tournament… WTF HOW? Isn’t this dude literally a wanted criminal? The second he shows up at the tournament he should be hauled right back to prison, but the writers really needed to bring the old dumb villain back lol.

@@cookie.2118 Season 4 is a good season but this was when it became harder to take the show seriously.
There was also no more grey area and Cobra Kai were officially the villains this time around. S1-2, it was 50/50 with Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do both having pros and cons. During Season 3, Cobra Kai obviously started heading to a much darker route and by the finale it was obvious that they have turned to the dark side with Kreese in charge. That doesn’t make it a bad thing necessarily as it’s needed for the purpose of the story but when the show is called Cobra Kai and they are purely the villains with no grey area, it makes them hard to root for. Another reason why I prefer Season 3 is the dojo split.
It was so frustrating and petty to see Daniel and Johnny regress back into rivalry as it was painfully obvious that in order to beat Cobra Kai, they would HAVE TO merge together. Now I get that drama has to take place in order to advance the plot and it would also mean no Devon if this didn’t happen but it’s just frustrating to watch as a fan when you know the decisions are wrong. I know it did technically have a good pay off at the All Valley with Daniel and Johnny teaming up to coach Sam but it was too little too late and this is how Cobra Kai won (with some cheating obviously).
The All Valley didn’t seem right this season with it feeling more empty than the Season 1 version and I prefer the old system of fighters beating their opponents fair and square rather than relying on a points system to determine a winning dojo.
Also I didn’t like the teen drama with Sam/Miguel and Tory/Robby but I say that almost every season with those four.
Overall Season 4 is still a great season but it started the trend of silly and goofy scenes that made the show harder to enjoy and much unneeded drama. Not the worst season by any means but not my favourite.

The plot of Season 3 basically boils down to "Cobra Kai becomes pure evil and it's just a good versus evil battle" and the complexity of the plot was stripped away. Instead of the thick juicy questions around "who is in the wrong" in any given situation, it became very clearly "Cobra Kai is awful and evil so they are of course wrong in every scenario". Added on top of that were kind of shaky character motivations from Hawk and weird relationship flip-flopping that felt kind of like a terrible teen drama. Yeah, it has a lot of filler also. It is a aftermath Season so that is to be expected.

I agree with everything you said, even though I liked season 5 I could see the problems starting to arise with the character development and the story telling. For example in the first two episodes of season 5 with Miguel going to Mexico to find his father, that was a story line that lead to nowhere and kinda seemed like a waste of time.
If they would make Daniel and Johnny clash again, they might as well carry the development they had from Seasons 4 and 5. I wish they had Season 6 open up with Daniel having nightmares of Silver and being unable to overcome the Cobra Kai in him and then Daniel wakjng up and brushing it off like its nothing (because he is reassuring himself Silver is in jail already) and continue training the kids like a normal day.
Miyagi's dark secret would've been a good opportunity for writers to have Daniel let Silver's past come back to haunt him (mentally) and have Daniel question and slowly betray Miyagi's ways and act rather rash and aggressive towards the students during Sekai Takai preparation. I would've loved to see a more balanced Johnny confront and maybe fight an already scattered and reckless Daniel to bring him back to his senses.
As for Miguel and Robby, it doesnt matter who wins or lose but have them have a friendly, no egos match. But should they make Miguel win, have Miguel tell the senseis that Robby should be captain and give him the position. He will say it doesnt matter who the better fighter is, Robby has better leadership, is more experienced teaching kids, and has been through so much to come back from the bottom.
Or it would've been better to end it with Season 5 with Kreese having regrets of his dirty actions and dying in jail.

This first part was so disjointed, with weird cuts and just in general bad story. Like kenny teleporting from one batting cage to another, and shawn telling robby that he missed his chance with kenny then telling kenny to join the karate, and stingray telling Johnny to reopen cobra kai and it LOOKS like Johnny is considering it and right the next scene he is fine with Miyagi do being Miyagi do.
Also, this show was at its best when it explored Johnny and Miguel's friendship, and at first this show was about them. Now it seems like they are being sidelined. I really hope Miguel wins the tournament again.

I kept asking myself during several scenes, "what is the point of this?" and "aren't we past this already?" A lot of this does feel like filler, I agree there. Let's hope this season is redeemed with part 2, which I have a felling it will be.

I agree. They need to go back and edit it and add some scenes in that they left out. And they need to make the opening scenes have sounds and be actual scenes with music instead of just being completely silent with just music.
I felt like the characters regressed back to their early Season 4 selves. Why Miguel and Robby are suddenly one upping each other when in Season 5, they EASILY came to an agreement to let Hawk represent in the qualifier match against Cobra Kai. Even Daniel and Johnny in Season 5 barely fought with each other.

Yes, it was weak. But the frat party was to tell us what happens to Kyler and Bruggs after the show ends. And we know that Aisha went to UC Santa Cruz (a first-rate party school). The split between Hawk and Demitri came out of nowhere. There should have been some foreshadowing. The Miyagi chest seemd like a ploy to make us await the positive resolution that we already know will come. Sean turning Kenny around was also too easy and not believable. The best part was Tory's appearance at the tournament. She looked dead inside, which is what she was feeling.
Sam didn’t have any “wrongdoings” to admit to and I’m tired of people equating what Sam and Tory did. Committing attempted murder twice and breaking into someone’s home is not the equivalent to accusing someone who you know is a thief of stealing your mother’s wallet.
Also, Tory’s “apology” was not sufficient to cover the extent of the damage that she caused and they never acknowledged Sam’s PTSD during that conversation.
It would have been interesting to see Johnny and Daniel finally be buddy buddy in this season. Kind of like Goku and Vegeta in the Buu Saga. But instead we're back to rehashed plot points that have been resolved a thousand times. And the reason why you're seeing a lot of these plot points be rehashed, is because usually the writers don't stick with anything for too long and they end every subplot way too early. And when they can't think of anything for their characters to do, they just have them switch sides or develop a beef with someone. Only for them to inevitably resolve that issue in like a few episodes.
Also I didn't mind Miguel and Robby fighting again and Robby getting his win, because it seems like Miguel wasn't entirely focused or something. But the absolute dog shit that they have put Hawk through when he should easily be in the top 3 is insane. Even after He won the All Valley, no one really even acknowledged it. Then they had him job out to Kenny for no reason. And you think it's to set up Kenny as a bigger threat, but then Kenny immediately gets outclassed by other members of Miyagi-Do, and then shits his pants in the next season. So there was no reason to do Hawk dirty like that. No reason to do Kenny dirty like that either, but that's another story.
And then they have Hawk and Demetri have some forced drama, that we're supposed to see both sides of. Dimitri just comes off like a whiny hater, and Hawk is being the rational one. And they still hand him an L for no reason. Then he gets the consolation spot after Tori leaves miyagi-do. And what's really annoying is that when Miguel, Robby, Tori, and Sam are talking about potential participants for the tournament, they only mentioned that Tori and Miguel are former champions, and don't mention Hawk. The guy who's still the champion and didn't have a referee help him win like Tori did.
Oh and why is Daniel upset at Johnny for fighting Mike Barnes? Didn't Daniel do literally the same thing last season? And Johnny was only defending himself. This is again forced drama to cause a conflict that doesn't need to happen. Daniel just comes off like a complete prick when his character should be above this at this point. And Johnny has been sidelined so much in his own damn show that it's insane. I was legitimately rooting for him to bring back Cobra Kai when stingray asked him to. That's what this whole premise was originally about anyway. Now Cobra Kai is just a generic goon squad again, with only one or two people of relevance to the plot on it's side.
Tori joining Cobra Kai kind of felt rushed but at least it makes sense. Also she looks sexy as hell in the black Cobra Kai gi, so I'm not really complaining.

Johnny and Daniel are only fighting because the writers wanna have this moment where they come together again to inspire the kids to work through there problems im already calling it. I love Miguel and Robby’s relationship so having the fight imo was a slap in the face of there development last season and it created this version of Miguel that felt so forced and not like himself. Hawk and Dimitri fighting feels so weird to me because like they only did it just so Dimitri could be in the team but then they realized “oh wait we just made unresolved plot line because they won’t be together” so they had to get Tory out. Hawk and Kenny are done so dirty that I’m actually curious if the actors who play them had any problems or notes given to the writers. Kenny should’ve easily been top 5 but no “they have to be different and unexpected so let’s make him crap himself instead” Hawk shouldn’t even be a debate he beat Robby and won the all valley like what meth were the writers on when picking the team? @@mr.4k_ Kenny got done so dirty this season It's insane. I didn't even really care for him that much as a character. A lot of it just had to do with the resentment I had for him beating Hawk. Like yeah Hawk wasn't really going all out, there was a crooked ref involved, and Kenny used the Silver Bullet. But it was just an unnecessary loss, that was especially embarrassing because they just had Miguel and Robby go to bat for Hawk to get his moment in this fight.
That being said, I feel really bad for Kenny this season. First he and his brother get assaulted by four people at the batting cages because he doesn't wanna do karate anymore. Then his brother randomly for no reason at all changed his mind and thought it was a good idea for Kenny to join Miyagi-Do.
And once Kenny reluctantly agrees, mostly everyone is immediately hostile towards him. They weren't even this mean to Penis-breath, and you know that dude be smelling like the inside of an old lunchbox. And I'm not talking about the metal ones, I'm talking them weird soft ones made out of rubber or something. Any food you bring has that weird moldy musk to it after you put in there.
And he's got to deal with the worst character on the show, Anthony Larusso. Who I swear is proof that the writers secretly hate the Larusso's. It's bad enough that Daniel is kind of a self righteous prick who literally prays to Miyagi. He probably apologizes to Miyagi each time he jerks off or sum shit. And Samantha is easily the least interesting of the main group of kids (Miguel, Robby, Hawk, Tori, Sam) and is pretty annoying. But Anthony is so unlikable, and bland as hell. He also has a very punchable face and he just seems like a huge waste of potential for someone who's literally the son of the main character of the karate kid franchise. I get they were trying to do something different, but in doing so, they've made me just hate this character.
But you'd think since it was Robby's idea in the first place to get Kenny to join Miyagi-Do, that he'd have his back and be mentoring him. But not really. In fact they barely, if not at all, interact with each other after Kenny joins. It is very similar to last season when the only two plot relevant characters that were in Cobra Kai, where Tori and Kenny and I think they maybe had one or two lines of dialogue shared with each other.
Then his drink gets spiked, and he shits his pants in front of everyone, including his former bully, Lapusso. And they all laugh at him. Meanwhile Robby is staring aimlessly, instead of going to console Kenny.
Like Fr, if I'm Kenny, I'm immediately joining Cobra Kai. He joins Miyagi-Do for like a week and his life went to shit. They be setting this kid up for a school shooter arc. 😂

Part 1 was clearly rushed. It always felt like a good portion of realism left since season 2 or maybe 3, but it wasn’t THAT bad. But in season 6 it feels like the writers overdosed just a little bit on coke, both the powder and the drink. Kreese is a marvel villain lmao, and also in the cobra Kai verse the police suck. A fugitive can randomly travel across the entire world and no one knows a thing? Daniel also has had zero character development the entire series, he hasn’t evolved at all, and Johnnys character seems kind of over the top. It just seems like they crammed 10 episodes into 5, they left some of my favorite plot lines in the dark, and only focused on unnecessary and repetitive ones. Who knows? Maybe it’s just because it’s part 1, and we haven’t given it time, so it’s unfair to write off the entire season right now. I am hoping they fill in the many plot holes that they left in part 1, and they resolve the unnecessary drama between some of these characters, including Johnny and Daniel. I also hope they toned down the marvel villain theme, and Kreese actually becomes somewhat a person again. Although I will say I’m liking Kwon a lot, he seems to fit in pretty well, also I think Hawks plot line is finally gonna evolve again.

I think giving Robby a boost by seeing his girlfriend in order to win was unnecessary and unrealistic. Robby isn't better than Miguel, Miguel isn't better than Robby. It would have been a smarter decision for the writers to end their match with a tie, like how they stupidly did with Daniel and Johnny in Season 4 but this would have made sense.
Not saying Robby didn’t deserve to win just think it was done wrong and me saying Miguel should have won isn’t me glazing I would just rather see our main character win in the final season of the show. Thanks for the comment!

I laughed hysterically at the scene where he's tripping balls in the cave. Also it seemed like his character regressed a lot. I felt like in season 4 and 5 he was sort of having a redemption arc. But now they've just regressed him into being evil bad guy who hates miyagi do. And he's far less interesting and cool as Silver was.

Not gonna lie S1-3 was fire, and yea Kreese is a bit weird. But dude, the series didn't really have much filler, i don't know what your used to watching but there wasn't much filler. The only time you can say was filler or lost episode was when Miyagi was blamed into a criminal. It seemed like there were some missing scenes in the last episode...they just casually skipped over the fact that Tory's mom died and went straight to the tournament. They didn't show any scenes of her interactions with the group after they learned of her mother's passing. Surely her boyfriend and her friends would have been there to comfort her, and the fact that they don't show Tory's brother throughout the whole plot of her mom dying is really weird. Maybe they'll show more of this in part 2 with some flashbacks? Make it make sense.
I really liked the part 1. However, my problem with it was how it kept cutting back to the kids after the scenes of Kreese in Korea. It was like a pattern and was a bit predictable.

I don't like the Sekai Taikai; first of all, I don't like the name Sekai and Taikai, which just means World Tournament, like what? Why don't you make the name cooler, like an abbreviation, maybe like IKC (International Karate Competition) which in my opinion, sounds cooler and easier to say, hell what sports association runs this tournament? There has been no mention of an association that runs the tournament which is... suspicious. Second, what is it with the team events? Combat sports have always been Individualistic sports; why would you need to add team events in a martial arts tournament? And the team structure, why do we need captains? Why can't we just have a normal tournament structure or why can we just run the tournament like it's the Olympics? One section is for Kata (the art) and the other is for Kumite (the fighting). Also I would like to add, the fact that there are no weight classes in the tournament is dumb. In conclusion, I find the Sekai Taikai to be a distaste, it's not for me.

This season start has problems but it seems like no one is focusing on the real problems!
1. Tory has NOT been constantly flip flopping, she has been in CK from 2-5 with the exception of the last 3 episode of S5.
2. I can’t believe you said this season has problems because he lost. Miguel is my favorite teen but the reason he lost makes sense. You spent this video talking about narrative and writing but Miguel to win just to win. Your complaining about Robby fighting better when Tory comes in when in the beginning of the episode Tory and Robby made a pack to win together but Tory hasn’t been answering his calls or showing up to training sessions. Of course when she shows up that would help center him

We’ve seen only handful of impactful scenes between Robby and Daniel since S3 but that’s not just this part tho. Tory’s mom in introduced to the season and killed all within a few minutes.

Also it needs an explanation of Tory coming back to Cobra Kai and I think the season is overall mediocre as of right now. I missed how Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do are both styles have flaws and one is not better than the other. Why did the writers make the show about Miyagi-Do good and Cobra Kai bad when we are already have that in the Karate Kid movies, we don’t need the same plot as the movies, we need a different plot beat than just than.
My Season rankings now that I cleared my head and reviewed this Seasons of Cobra Kai-
Seasons 1- Season 2 episode 8: 9.9/10 (The concept of both fighting styles are good, but flawed is what they should of kept that Miguel x Tory and Robby x Sam should of continued dating until the next season if they want Sam x Miguel and Tory x Robby is the only flaw in this, but it is good otherwise.
Season 2 episode 9- Season 4: 3.5/10 (Sam’s panic attack and her struggles are real and her conquering that is good, but it is more about Miyagi-Do good and Cobra Kai bad which irritates me that they changed their minds to mimic the movies in the 80’s which we already had and I am sick and tired of it. Sam and Miguel also kissing is bad and Moon should not have had the party at her house which escalated the situation at the High School worse, I know she was trying to help, but group therapy would of helped more than a party.)
Season 5: 6.5/10 (Sam misunderstanding Tory is bad and Tory doing the same thing is worse, but it gives us an opportunity for them to understand each other a little bit more. Sam figures out who she is and also helps Tory is good. Honestly I do believe that they try to get into the angel of the Senseis are bad Senseis, but Cobra Kai was better when Johnny took over it, but it missed the mark a bit. Silver is a psychopath and the only villain that is not redeemed which is good and Krese should have died this season , but didn’t is bad. Kim Da-eun maybe crazy and uptight, but she is a good villain as well. The acting is getting better and I love it).
Season 6, so far: 6.5/10 (I love the addition of the new characters, the acting is good and so are the costumes. I don’t like that Devon lost their edge and Tory went back to Cobra Kai without an explanation, but I understand Tory’s lost since I just lost a family member due to lost and her not wanting to tell anyone right away just shows that she is still shocked by the news and needs time to process it I love how it portrays the emotional depth of her character and how important her mom is to her.

Good review. A few good scenes do not a good season make.Almost two years waiting to watch a makeshift slumber party, a newspaper clipping depicting your hero as a petty thief, a loser perjurer training under aged children in the woods and a poor kid running through the woods to crap his pants...yeah...great season...NOT. Next we will have Miyagi Do v The Flying Saucers.
And it is ok for you to be negative. You gave an excellent review. Like the saying goes, this show has overstayed its welcome. I also strongly agree with you that the show should have ended at Season 5. I have gone on record on other sites that Season 5 should have been the last Season. As you aptly pointed out, all of the major conflicts-Robbie/Miguel; Johnny/Danny; Tori/Samantha had been ironed out. Cobra Kai was defeated, and Terry Silver was arrested. Kreese escaping like a James Bond villain was interesting, but it didn't matter. He was already defeated a number of times (which is why he called for Terry Silver for reinforcement) and he would have been freed anyway due to Stingray's perjured testimony (who himself should have been incarcerated).
I am somewhat at a loss as to why everyone is talking about Kreese as a fugitive. Sting Ray recanted his false testimony in Season 5 (and in fact, he should be incarcerated for perjured testimony)
Season 5 debuted September 9, 2022. It has been nigh on two years since we have seen anything new. Moreover, it wasn't until January 20, 2023 that we learned that Cobra Kai was going to be renewed by NETFLIX for a sixth and thank god final season. My guess is that the producers of Cobra Kai went into Season 5 with the mindset that IT WAS PROBABLY GOING TO BE THE LAST SEASON-which why it feels that Season 5 should have been the end in the last episode. I think the producers probably thought that way also, but to hedge their bets in Season5 they threw in a 2 minute obscure reference to the Sakai Tekai tournament in a Kreese flashback and allowed Kreese to escape the prison...just in case there was another Season.
As for Season 6 Part 1, it's the "Same old song and dance my friend". I think as a foreshadowing to this was the delay of filming this season due to the writers strike, and to me was just another omen that the series should have ended at Season 5. They keep using this Stop/drive and reverse technique. For the umpteenth time Johnny and Danny join forces...for about 1/2 a week they work together, then a few days later it goes in reverse and they are adversaries again. It is getting played out.
Additionally, by resolving the major plot conflicts of Season 5, there is nothing left. They try to reignite old conflicts or start new ones that just fizzle. Demetri mad because Hawk didn't apply to MIT ? Also, Hawk can only apply to one school-which is why he didn't apply to MIT ? Is there a limit to the amount of schools he can apply to ? Then Tory quits Cobra Kai-so now Hawk gets to go to the tournament by default? They nerfed Hawk in Season 5..and now he is getting further devalued.
And to top it off, the episodes are filled with fuller. We waited almost two years for Season 6, and what do we get for it: We see Kenny run back from the woods to crap in his pants, watch Johhny host a slumber party for girls, and have Daniel discover a vault under a bed (which never would have been found had Chosen not moved in) with a newspaper clipping showing that his hero was once a two bit thug who stole a necklace.
The fans waited two years for this ???

I feel like a lot of your claims have little weight mainly because the same issues you mentioned can be found in every season of the show.
When you simplify everything this is a show about two different types of karate dojos going against each other while also exploring the personal lives of the students, sensei’s and parents in a overdramatized fashion to be entertaining. None of this shit is realistic and the plot lines in season 6 make as much sense as any plot line from any other season in the show.
Cobra Kai is cheesy and corny, but it is still a fun watch with lots of awesome fight scenes, funny moments, heartfelt sequences and overall an engaging tv show. Definitely has its flaws but you’re making them seem like a much bigger deal than what they are.
The plot lines in season 6 make as much sense really?? So explain to me how Kreese survived a cobra bite and how as a wanted criminal he be traveled to Korea then back to the US then to Spain. Believe me I love the show and I wouldn’t be criticizing it if it wasn’t necessary but this season had so many more obvious flaws compared to other seasons that they honestly can’t be ignored even if the show is fun. It’s been noted that he was only in there for a few years and never went back after he lost the tournament against Daniel, yet 40 years later he can remember all the lessons and is able to teach them verbatim and is still an expert himself after not training for so long? How is it possible that Silver and Kreese can still manage to kick everyone’s ass when they should be 70rs old in the karate kid timeline? How is it possible that Kenny became the most powerful fighter in the cobrai Kai universe and while being one of the smallest and least experienced students? There tons of things likes this that don’t make sense

The show honestly should’ve ended with season 2. I would never call Cobra Kai a “masterpiece” or a “great show.” But at least it had something to it - each season has progressively gotten stupider and stupider to a point where nothing can be taken seriously anymore. Like, Kreese got arrested, broke out of jail, somehow travelled to Korea and is participating in a global karate tournament… WTF HOW? Isn’t this dude literally a wanted criminal? The second he shows up at the tournament he should be hauled right back to prison, but the writers really needed to bring the old dumb villain back lol.

cobra kai is a great show like it's had more really good seasons than bad, that makes it very good-great. It's rotten tomatoe sxore is at like 93 so obv the consensus is that it's really good.

I didn't like a single episode this season. I'm tired of the reused plots especially Johnny and Daniel. This season had nothing good going for IT LITERALLY NOTHING. I don't think I'm gonna finish cobra Kai. I wanted a season 6 although I was sorting of convinced it would be the worst season but I didn't expect it would be this bad. It's a terribly written season in every, they fumbled the bag so hard, how can some people call this peak?. It's ok though, I'll just watch stranger things and maybe twd
