What a gentle sweet soul Hannah was. The photo @ 3:20 is the best photo I’ve seen of her, with her lovely smiley face. When I think of, or hear “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth”, I will think about sweet, precious, gentle Hannah.

I'm glad her later years were spent in a community that supported her. Rest in Peace, Hannah. If I ever make it back to the UK, I hope to visit your Meadow. Beautifully said Calum Anderson, She did love her animals and didn't want to leave them. I'm sure that's what kept her going strong knowing she had a responsibility of taking care of them knowing they depended on her daily. The animals were the closest to having someone in her life. What a remarkable women and life filled with so much compassion. I wish I could have met her and cried when she was giving up her beloved animals to her neighbor. RIP: Lovely Hannah

It was the journey her family made. She knew no other. She enjoyed some comforts later in her time at the farm but it was the only life she knew and was her family home. Id have been the same. Selling your family home where your memories for so many years are is not easy for some. I found it pulled on all kinds of memories and thoughts. When you are the only one left like I was as was Hannah, I can understand her staying for so long.
So sad to hear of Hannah's passing...She was a real Yorkshire Dales character and a beautiful person as well...I met her once at a talk she gave in our local library and she signed my copy of her book. R.I.P

I don't know if Hannah had any living family but she certainly had a church full of well-wishers at the end. She lived 91 years, but most of it was bleak, hardship, no electricity, a simple lonely existence, with her beloved animals and maybe a couple of friendly neighbours. Even when she was exposed to the world of television she was humble and softly spoken, innocent but trusted her guiding hands who opened up the wide world for her to experience. RIP Hannah, always remembered.
That makes me feel so happy that all those people came out to her funeral . I just lost my lil son yesterday 2-26-19 . He was my lil Boston Terrior doggie but to me he was my son & I always lov him like he's human all the same rest in peace Ms.Hanna & my lil Junior .
I live in Galicia and remember watching the first of the TV programmes about her back in the 1970's. Never read about her passing away in any major UK newspaper on line. Somehow and thankfully YT has given me some suggestions about what to view and apart form others about Miss Hauxwell, this was amongst them. I am sad to see this, but see had a very long life and I do hope she was happy in her small village cottage after life on the farm.

It's my experience that urban life even living in hamlets/ villages can be as lonely as anything.. it's what you are use to that's most important.. I remember watching her on TV with my mother, many years ago. Mother and l admired your strength and fortitude. She had a hard life! But l think you do have enjoyment in her life, especially in the later years. All l. Can say is we all learnt alot from her! Integrity, faith, and endurance till the end. Thank you Hannah. May God rest Hannah. A true woman of substance. She coped well in that harsh environment and was driven by strength of will because she was dedicated to the farm, the land and her animals. Her family was there for 3 generations so her life was wrapped up in memories of the family she loved and when they died she was left on her own to keep the fires burning. Without complaint she was happy in her own way and had a beautiful outlook on life despite her hardships. Clear skin and lived till she was 91 years of age. What an honour to have met this fabulous lady.

I watched three documentaries this past year on her. I was utterly amazed that in this day and age, a person (and a not so young woman at that) could live such a harsh life. A morally upright, simple-living, honest, and somewhat naieve lady who wouldn;t hurt a fly.

It's sad I felt very sad, even God on the bible said that it wasn't good for Adam to be alone and He made Eve , we are made to live with a companion it is sad that some people never find love.

This is so beautiful. It made me cry. To think that even though Hannah lived a life of relative isolation and saw few people, she was yet so loved by a great many ! This is a beautiful celebration of her life,a life well spent , well lived and in the end remembered and cherished. THANK YOU for sharing this online. I feel like I was a part of it in some way, like being there in person . I have seen the other videos of Hannah and how she lived. I am surprised she did so well. I am in my 60's, live in a Cottage in a very small village in Southeastern Ohio, USA .I do not think I could have lived as she did . But God gave her strength and a long life. Such a stoic lady, qualities long since gone in the younger generation. I remember from the documentary The love she had for her milking cow, and how sad she was to see her go to another farm.
But that's not where she wanted to be. If you watch "A winter too many" she stated that her happy place was along the river near her house, her "Mississippi" as she called it. And that if a ghost was to be seen walking up and down the path, it would be her, because that's where her soul was the happiest. I want to believe that's where she is now. ♥

It's sad I felt very sad, even God on the bible said that it wasn't good for Adam to be alone and He made Eve , we are made to live with a companion it is sad that some people never find love.

I agree.I've noticed people make the effort for funerals sadly,and not always when the person is alive.
Mind I agree but she may have only met them after she moved to the village a lot of people may not have know she existed until the tv programme filmed her

This is so beautiful. It made me cry. To think that even though Hannah lived a life of relative isolation and saw few people, she was yet so loved by a great many ! This is a beautiful celebration of her life,a life well spent , well lived and in the end remembered and cherished. THANK YOU for sharing this online. I feel like I was a part of it in some way, like being there in person . I have seen the other videos of Hannah and how she lived. I am surprised she did so well. I am in my 60's, live in a Cottage in a very small village in Southeastern Ohio, USA .I do not think I could have lived as she did . But God gave her strength and a long life. God bless Hannah and her memory , may it live on !

Such a stoic lady, qualities long since gone in the younger generation. I remember from the documentary The love she had for her milking cow, and how sad she was to see her go to another farm.

But that's not where she wanted to be. If you watch "A winter too many" she stated that her happy place was along the river near her house, her "Mississippi" as she called it. And that if a ghost was to be seen walking up and down the path, it would be her, because that's where her soul was the happiest. I want to believe that's where she is now. ♥

Stumbled across Hannah 2 days ago. Now only seen her funeral. May she rest in peace. What a humble lady. She said in the programme if she died her ghost would probably be seen roaming the place she loved most. Its 1 ghost I wouldn't be afraid meeting. R.I.P.
Hannah was so full of humility and dedication to her family home and her farm and surrounding woods fields streams hills.She took joy in the simplicity of a beautiful day birds singing, her work was grueling for her as she aged but no complaints she was a beautiful soul your back in your beloved hills an vale’s RIP Hannah thank you for reminding us that life itself was beautiful.

Incredible all the Friends,they just kept coming out I didn't know that church could hold all those people. Hannah shows us what one person with a pure Heart can hold a special place in people's Hearts with their Love and Friendships and be a bright spot in their Lives. RIP Hannah.
