I don't see any problem with bootlegging products that haven't been in production and available in ages from official sources, if Lego has a problem with it then they should get those Bionicle sets back in production.
I hope they make the rest of the 01 masks in more colors, especially getting all the turaga masks in the Mata colors. If this guy can resin cast anything, being able to make more tohunga colors would be insane as well.

I can see that as soon as purple came out everyone had the same idea at once, all things considered I'm probably really lucky I got in on it before it sold out again. I even got a bonus defect which I didn't even put in the cart. Fantastic quality on all if a big of a snug fit, the prices are absolutely unbelievable. Hope to see more colors soon, having a black Hau for a tenth of the price of what it goes for makes me quite happy, for SURE buying from him again

I just had an order of these show up the other day, I love how close to the originals he's managed to get with Old Purple, Turquoise, Flat Dark Gold, and Pearl Gold. Nearly indistinguishable from real Lego!
You can get a light grey ‘noble’ Hau by removing the chrome from a chrome mask. It isn’t too difficult to find one that’s already chipped so you wouldn’t have to sacrifice a perfectly good one.
He already said in the Discord that it won't happen, because he can't create them cheaper than what is being offered right now with the legit versions 😅
I have a few of my own from ziontyro, and the plastic quality, and the color matching (usually) is near exact to the originals. It's truly amazing and unbelievably exciting. I hope that they eventually expand to the other g1 masks, the metru masks, and maybe even others beyond those.

Originals will likely remain generally overpriced since they're the official version, and that's a key aspect of their perceived value as collectables. Some sellers might drop their prices early on, but most will keep them high. But, I imagine high-quality bootlegs are more than good enough for most fans considering how long the series has been gone. And if they sell well-enough for a time, Lego might take notice and decide it's worth bringing the line back at least for a test run. If Lego specifically re-released older sets, then I could see reseller prices on originals dropping significantly.

Part of me wonders if the huge range of colours is down to the fact they are experimental, rather than a "final" product, which may mean they will be discontinued when they run out. Either way, they are cool to see!
There's still that quality problem with the back right section of the masks (very visible on the purple mask at 2:22), honestly it turns me off immediately from ordering it. If not for that, it looks 100% like the real thing. But that imperfection of the plastic just bugs me too much tbh. If there must be a mark from pushing out the part from the mold, or cutting it from a sheet of parts, it should have been on the inside of the mask, not the outline. I am far from being knowledgeable about injection molding and idk if that's something they can fix with their machines, but darn it's so close yet so far from being desirable for me. If it was cheaper, yeah sure, but it's still pricy enough for me to expect better quality.
That's where the plastic is injected into the mould. It's different from Lego. If you ever wondered why Lego has a dot on it at a particular place like how the hay has it in the mouth opening that's from where the plastic is injected. Lego designs thir milds with that in mind but theses due to tech limitations inject from the top down
As others have said, it sands of pretty easily, I just haven't got around to doing so yet. Don't know if that helps change your mind, but you shouldn't miss out because of it!
What you referred to as "Trans-Light Blue" is actually the Trans-Medium Blue that could be found in things like Kopaka's eyes or the Mahri visors. The only reason I make this correction is because I hope you see this message so that I may ask you check it for any yellowing as time progresses. I got in touch with ZionTyro's last year about commissioning a Trans-Medium Blue light-up eyestalk for my Toa Mata Nui figure that I have yet to build; he has the mold but said that TMB plastic was prone to yellowing over time, so I want to see if maybe the formula was changed since I last spoke to them.
Ah fair enough. I know that Kennie lists this particular colour as "trans light blue" and I do tend to mix the various shades up in my head! Interesting point about the yellowing, I hadn't even considered this might be a problem with modern plastics but will certainly watch out for it.
Lego could probably order a cease and desist if they wanted, since these are rather shameless bootlegs. But the series was discontinued 14 years ago at this point, so that seems unlikely unless they decide to bring Bionicle back themselves. And there's probably not enough perceptable profit for that currently. That said, I think it is technically legal to make Lego-compatable parts and sets as long as they aren't exact reproductions of official products, and aren't falsely advertised as such. It's a bit of a grey area, and lawsuits have happened before, but immitation products are actually pretty common. To be clear, I'm not a lawyer, nor am I well-versed in patents, trademarks, or copyrights. But I know there are a number of other companies that produce Lego-like products. And if large corporations can get away with it, I daresay small-scale hobbyists can.

Lego destroys all their mold, so he probably 3D scanned the masks and then made molds off of the scans
Definitely not. These seem to be exact matches. 3D prints are always obviously the wrong shape
