Odd how they tried to call bias on the phycologist on Depps side but they turn around and use someone who is PAINFULLY biased.
Right? And she’s using gendered language on purpose I think to subconsciously influence the jury. By describing what abuse looks like between men and their female victims. As if that is the only direction abuse can flow.
For YEARS, I've been obsessed with watching court trials. This is not a professional/unbiased testimony by this psychologist. I would disregard her testimony if I were on that jury for that reason.
To me it seemed like only woman can be DV victims and men can't in her eyes...

she is testifying as an advocate as if all Heard says is true. They believe her so of course cannot diagnosis her. She is advocating for Heard and very partial testifying to Depp behavior as if it is all fact..she has no proof other than Heard who has been proven to be a liar and manipulator. They cannot diagnosis her bc they believe her.
Heard being able to manipulate therapists is why she has been in therapy for decades and always will be.

I've watched numerous recorded court cases, and find them genuinely fascinating. But today was the first time I had to skip past a section. I couldn't bear to listen to that woman. Nor the creepy-fake-friendly nature the lawyer interviewing her had compared to the disrespectful and unprofessional attitude she'd previously demonstrated. I couldn't bear to listen after Dr Notes suggested Depp's 'level of abuse' potentially put Heard's 'life at risk'!!! I think what she said, that I could bear to listen to, and what she suggested, along with her assessment of Heard, should be enough to have her removed from the various positions she holds in her profession. I think she was disgraceful, and I can only imagine how embarrassed her peers must be.

Totally agree! Also on a level of professionalism - her use of pronouns to constantly identify females as victims and males as the abusers was extremely unprofessional. As a mental health professionals, social worker, ECT., your use of pronouns in situations like this will often result in half your seminar walking out.... Ask me how I know... SMH I really hope this crap shapes up to professional soon if we have to sit and listen to the lies at least.
You can tell hughes is biased towards women/amber. She is a perfect example of why most men are afraid to speak up about abuse. Her words alone affects a mans mindset and confidence in terms of speaking up. When she only uses women in abuse examples and continuously uses a man as the abuser in her words-- it clearly has an affect on her patients.
What if Amber Heard is actually not as bad as media is portraying? Acc. to the BOARD CERTIFIED FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGIST, Johnny Depp is an abuser. AND that there was MUTUAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. Why not give Amber the benefit of doubt?

If you listen to what the witness describes as the typical female victim, Johnny fits the profile. All they did was prove that Johnny is in fact a victim of domestic violence. I hope the jury was listening closely.
I was thinking this myself. I can't understand how a "professional" is describing each situation with the pronouns 'he' and 'she', always making it seem that the 'he' is the abuser and the 'she' is the victim. If you take out the pronouns, she is laying down evidence to support Depp is actually the victim.
Yup! Everything about this trial is Amber's side proving Johnny's side for them. It was a slam dunk!
How on earth was Dr Hughes allowed to continue her testimony about what was ‘reported’ and able to claim it all as fact when it’s all hearsay???

When I testified about being sexually assaulted I was so ashamed, humiliated, and embarrassed as well as angry and sick to my stomach that I could not sit there and look anyone in the eye and I could barely talk. I’m amazed that Amber can sit there and look as calm as she does without reliving every incident her forensic psychologist is talking about. Amber is NOT a victim. No way.
I also saw today's trail (day 13) and I honestly think she was shaken by Dr. Hughes sexual assault description. I think after Dr. Hughes testimony she will come ahead of this trail. Let's wait and see!

There's also no evidence of her ever being afraid of Johnny. Not in a single one of their recordings - and there are like 8 hours worth at this point - did she indicate fear, or even timidness. She sounded vindictive, domineering, scolding, patronising.. but never afraid.
@@Hankblue People react differently. With all due respect, just because you felt certain way does not mean that she has to fell or act the same way as you did. That is why a professional person such as Dr. Hughes is needed to analyze and describe. I feel sad for both of them. This shows that all that wealth can not bring happiness. Best of luck to you!

I think Johnnys lawyers only have to ask the same questions during cross examination but change their questions to male pronouns and she will have to say the exact same thing but from johnnys point of view. Very surprised that his lawyers didnt object at each and every question because it was obvious that every single question and answer was just regurgitating Ambers version of events.

@@blare5346 Cant believe that a so called professional witness was allowed to sit there and just spew what Amber had told her during sessions as if it was gospel truth. Amber was only in those sessions because of this case so knew what to say and what they would be looking for. Why they didnt object to it as hearsay Ill never know. Dawn Hugues is typically the type of person who need a psychologist more than her patients.
Also as an abuse survivor myself I know 100% that I would not be able to look at my abuser constantly like she does. I know so many women/men that can not cope even being in the same room as their abuser let alone staring at them. She doesn't seem to be bothered unless it looks like her mask is slipping and she quickly puts on her sad fish face. She does not have the characteristics of a true victim. I am not disregarding what may have happened to her as a child as this is not what she is in court for. But as for this actual case she has made herself look like a liar from the start and there is plenty of evidence to support my theory.

She was painfully ill prepared and vague about details “I don’t recall, I vaguely remember, I don’t know, I’m not sure, I THINK, I don’t remember specifically, I have a… sort of… vague recollection… um, um, um, I have a vague/general sense, etc.” needing to reference notes to even know when she began seeing AH among everything else… just not a very credible, prepared or professional witness, in my opinion. In other words… OBJECTION

Wow, Johnny Depp’s attorney Ben Chew, blew me away! I had to laugh when I heard him describing Amber’s statements with his movements, so funny! But, when he raised his voice to state his points about her lies, etc., that whole court was still! I ❤️ it! Then the hug when the judge sided with them that there is enough evidence & fakeness to Ambers stories, that was icing on the cake! Made my day 🌼

She wasn’t even subtle at lying. she was pushing the things that “supposedly” amber told her and try to shove it down the jury’s throat. She was a very obvious lier. None of the other witnesses acted like that. They stated both sides. But it was as if she was fired up to say whatever it takes to defame johnny. I mean some of the things she said sounded like a horror movie rather than a failed marriage. Jesus, she was such a shameless lier.

The thing is that in psychology, with few exceptions, many assessments are completely subjective. This expert danced around things unfavorable to Heard, instead trying to stack her 12 tests up against the MMPI - notwithstanding the fact that the bulk of those 12 “tests” are far easier to fudge and/or ore solely based on a client’s perceptions.
What I found ironic is this: BECAUSE this expert specializes in domestic abuse, she’s over-sensitized to anything that could be construed as abusive under certain circumstances. Basically, by announcing her preferred field of study, she acknowledged her bias up-front. She’s predicating her testimony almost completely on things Heard reported. In other words, Heard was providing the context for everything incriminating against her. So rather than attributing Heard’s behavior to her characteristic, personality-disordered behavior pattern - which has been established across many situations (whether Depp was/ wasn’t present, before/after their relationship) she views it all in light of her area of expertise. For example: Heard’s PTSD was attributed to domestic abuse ONLY because Heard claimed nightmares were based on Depp’s supposed abusive actions, her anxiety included fear of reprisals from Depp, etc.
I wonder if anyone will note that one of Heard’s medications included an anti-psychotic, and that she voluntarily took hallucinogens. So basically Heard could truly believe events of abuse occurred ...due to delusional thought and her tendency to misconstrue events - like the muffin incident. Humorously, Heard’s shortsighted legal team sought to jam Dr. Curry up with the muffin story, but only ended up volunteering a perfect example of Heard’s distorted thinking.
This is infuriating to watch, how this "MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL" is allowed to completely dictate a narrative is insane
I’ve thankfully never been abused or sexually violated by a spouse, but I have to ask: Would an abused woman taunt her abuser by calling him a fat old man, washed up, deadbeat dad? Would she beg him NOT to leave when he wants to exit during a heated argument? I would think if my partner had a history of physically and sexually abusing me, I would shut my mouth and be offering up silent prayers that he please just leave before the argument gets physical.

Exactly. On one of the audio recordings, I think one he made because it sounds like his phone is in his front pocket....you can actually hear here walk up to him and get right in his face. And she condescendingly pats him on his shoulder or chest as she verbally abused him. Yet she claims that she walked on eggshells around him and was terrified all the time lmao.
I am totally on Johnny's side because of the tapes. He is passive and doesn't like confrontation and she is very hot tempered. But honestly I have seen a female family member get beat and she would say the most terrible things to him with no fear and he would snap and attack her it was a vicious cycle and she would tell him he better not leave even after the fights and keep going on...they used methamphetamines and many pills it is scary but it does happen and it is insane and confusing to those who never witness it. But as I said I'm totally on his side:) But you don't believe such craziness until you see it lol for real;)

most victims do as you would, stay silent and take it, others take it for a while cause they think they can pull truh it and its going to change and if thers no change they start to fight back.

This psychologist definitely looked up "Domestic Violence victims" on google and just randomly dumped everything she found there on her notes and just added Amber Heard=Good and Johnny Depp=Bad in her notes. Jesus, the BS was smoking on this one.

All I know is, Dr. curry concluded that she was lying about having PTSD as she said she 19 of the 20 symptoms which not even the worst suffers of PTSD do. That is critical proof that she's lying about having PTSD. For this other psychologist to just ignore that shows she is biased.

I think she was trying to shock the jury with these stories, ex: "God I hope it's not the broken one". Come on, I mean, Amber fed her all this BS and she's recounting it as if it's undeniably true and not complete hearsay. I really hope JD's team will be able to pull the rug from underneath her and expose her lies and bias.
If anyone is an attorney. How is it legal for Ms. Hughs to look at her notes, or "glance". She even had more time to look through them when the judge was too busy talking to the lawyers? Do you think the jury will account that detail and not validate her testimony

Amber lawyer's kept saying that she never said that Johnny hit her or assaulted her. And then suddenly this Dr comes and says that Amber did say he hit her....this is going to be interesting. I hope the cross examination proves the irregularities of her testimony
I haven't watched all of this trial, but I just wish to say one thing.
In general, violent and abusive men who get physically hurt will, without exception, physically harm the person who has physically hurt them. Its instinct in a violent and abusive person.
But when that bottle smashed into Johnny's finger, in his own words he admitted to having a breakdown, and writing on the walls in his blood. Not the actions of a violent, abusive person.
So in US justice system 2 experts both educated in the exact same area have 2 opposite conclusions! Something is wrong with that picture. I think it should be one court appointed expert

Well the thing is that complex ptsd can look a lot of like bpd. There’s a lot of misdiagnoses. I should know, before they could diagnose a women with ptsd after sexual assault I was diagnosed with bpd (cause I was pretty much self destructing and picking fights hoping someone would kill me) only to be correctly diagnosed some years later with ptsd. Then finally complex ptsd once they started making distinctions of what one isolated trauma event does and what several traumatic events over a long period of time does. Shits not perfect, just like any other form of medicine or science. As time goes on and there’s more research and medical advances we learn more.
@@lostlifevids Yes, absolutely, these diagnoses are difficult to pin down, even by an expert because there is so much overlap. I never had a definitive diagnosis of BPD, despite obvious symptoms. When I was in my teens, I think they were leaning toward bipolar, but I don’t remember taking the MMPI then. In my 30’s, after I took the MMPI, I only met 3 or 4 of the criteria for BPD so they settled on “General anxiety”. I also tried many different medications over the years -everything from lithium to lexapro- with no real results. Then, I took an assessment for ADD and it was off the chart. I began Adderall and it helped somewhat. People don’t realize how pervasive ADD is and how it can affect mood and relationships as well as countless other executive functions. As if that wasnt enough, I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts in my 50’s! This can effect hormones and thus mood! Its so very very complicated.
The entire thing between them is tragic. He is a genius, period. It appears their love was genuine. I do not think she was a “gold-digger”. Its a shame if she is telling the truth and her reality isn’t validated and vice-versa. Both will probably be ruined simply because much of it is her word against his. I know what she is saying about the “monster” is possible.
I have a friend who was lured in by an incredibly charming man who was well regarded. He apparently chose her intentionally seemingly for her gentle, passive nature. He changed dramatically after they were married and began to physically abuse her, but never in front of others. He even bragged to her that he was a “chameleon” who could take on any personality he chose. Luckily she was smart and left before it was too late. I also know alcohol can have dramatic effects and have experienced that someone can literally become “two different” people when sober vs. inebriated.
I think the biggest advantage for Johnny is that literally no one else reports seeing this “monster” as described-none of his former relationships
corroborate her claims and no one saw her with injuries. Given her propensity for recording events, it just seems odd there is no photographic evidence of injury or him striking her. It is despicable that she would falsely accuse him, but equally horrific if she is telling the truth and no one believes her.
No one will be the winner here. Its so sad.
I always keep an open mind, try very hard not to judge. One can never truly understand another persons experiences and challenges. Tolerance, understanding, compassion & love is the strongest medicine a human can offer for healing. I wish that for all who face these & similar challenges.
The professionalism and integrity lacking in this Dr. Hughes is startling. I wonder if she’s even aware of her bias and misinformation. Not to mention Amber Heard’s lawyer(s). It also seemed like the Judge was getting frustrated as well.

This is just my opinion: As opposed to Dr. Curry (whose name was mentioned twice in this trial lol) who used gender-free pronouns in her remarks, this psychologist, even when initially asked generally about sexual abuse not specific to the case, made claims like “the victim will try to calm herself down”, “the abuser… himself” already prior to questioning about Heard clearly shows she had a bias. Not saying she cant be biased but that just shows she’s not a very credible witness. All her story telling like “he choking her” “she was abused, raped” were merely based off on what Heard reported to her or reported to her therapists, no evidence backing it up. Not to mention rmb that Dr Curyy said “A therapist has to take their patient at their word”. She only evaluated Heard and relied on others’ notes about Heard reported, and hasn’t interviewed or evaluated Depp, I feel like she shouldn’t be stating “stories” as though they’re facts that just seems unethical and unprofessional
I agree.The presumption of the abused being the woman and the abuser being the man is just surprising given that she is a psychologist.She should be using gender neutral terms so that she doesn't come off as gender biased.

Their job is to educate the jury on what they are talking about. It's the jury's decision on the end result of the trial so of course all witnesses should include the jury in their testimony

I mean what is there to say even, 3 hours of batshit craziness, extremely difficult to listen to her talk about abuse in this gender biased manner. Also hearing her talk you might get the impression she actually was in their presence every single day and the only reason his lawyers kept her going with her outrageous rants is because surely its easily picked apart in cross examination. Amber's shrink goes by what Amber told her even though Amber has no proof of being abused. None of the witnesses have seen her with bruises or swelling. Johnny's shrinks have more credibility assessing Amber by the marks she left on Johnny (complete with pictures) and her raving recordings.

I am a survivor of sexual abuse/violence and I happen to have reacted just like you assumed- complete withdrawal from any new sexual/romantic entanglements or parties, trouble even showing up to work... But I have 2 friends who were also victims of sexual violence and they reacted completely opposite of me, started partying like crazy, and engaging in upsetting promiscuous behavior. The psychologist described exactly what JD went through as the abused . If it a clear reflection, Johnny had so many people who provided believable evidence that he was abused by AH. Listening to the psychologist reinforced JDs case in my opinion .
I thought the doctor's role is to present her findings based on her assessment and that's it. How can she know all the intimate fine details on ones life and be so biased towards another? I would move to strike out the testimony of this doctor :)

I felt like she really kept looking at him for a reaction or to see if there was any reaction to the claims made that she’s a victim. I don’t doubt that she has most likely suffered but she also instigated a lot of it. My ex was abuse an when apart he would cry act crazy angry then crying demonstrating signs of being a victim. But he was a victim in his mind in the sense he realised he lost control. With someone who is narsasistic they will always believe they are right and by you finely seeing them for who they are makes them feel you have wronged them rather than realising they are at fault.

Sadly, Amber has no problem lying, but I don't believe for a second Johnny Depp sexually assaulted her. I know I don't know what Depp is like behind closed doors, but I still don't believe it. Idk what it is about Amber Heard, but I've never really cared for her - both personally or as an actress. The problem is, if what Amber's defense attorney said during arguments for her Motion to Strike is accurate, and all Amber has to prove is Johnny Depp is guilty of a SINGLE EPISODE of abuse, be it physical, sexual or emotional, he loses. I seriously doubt he ever physically or sexually assaulted Amber, but he's definitely guilty of emotional abuse - there's no doubt about that. However, I think he's aware of that; he just wants to be vindicated of the sexual and physical abuse allegations, as they're the most serious. I genuinely believe Amber intentionally set out to ruin him, i.e., "oh, you don't want me? Yeah, watch wtf I do to that ass now," type shit; I think she was just angry that she was unable to control him and didn't like the fact that he was the one that ended the relationship. I think her ego wouldn't allow it. But regardless of the outcome of the court case, Johnny's career will start to bounce back now.

Amber did not become a "public figure of domestic abuse" from any claims of emotional abuse, and everyone reading that article knew that. In the end the jury gets to decide, and they may not appreciate the mental gymnastics of rationalising someone who maintains their unsubstantiated claims of physical and sexual abuse, while simultaneously pretending that all they were referring to in that article was emotional abuse.

The problem with DV is that the person who is being abusive is asked if they intended to hurt the other person on purpose. Someone can hurt another person and not purposely be attempting to hurt them. The DV system needs to be revised.
