@@SkillsWithPhil next time your in Asheville you should do a group ride like the old days..youve got a lot of fans out here that would love to shred some pisgah with ya..great video like always my guy🤙🤙🤙
Seriously. I know he just creates content for the fun and because he enjoys it, but I think Phil is very underrated. I wonder how many people in the mountain bike community on sites like Instagram actually know of him. I have never seen a clip of his shared as a reel for example.
I am so envious, you men are courageous. Im on the edge of my chair as the riders now a day do things we couldn't even imagine could be done on a bike. We had some tough bikes in my day, but no suspension and only Benedick brakes in the 1940s. It was the sudden stops that killed or broke us.I wonder if I would have had the guts to ride like you guys even with the kind of bikes you have.
You start small. All these jumps also exist in much much smaller versions. So they are a challenge for me. Some of the much much smaller ones I still don't do. Guys like Phil, however, are sick to death. I think that's clear.
I'm in the market for wheels. I found I somehow I subscribed your channel so I got back in there and BOOM this is the first video is see in your feed. NOBL WHEELS, YOU SAY? Trevor just got a Black Friday customer. The system works!
had no idea that you ripped that hard Phil. Time in tune in on the regular. Super cool vid. Thought about heading down there this weekend. I'm up in Cumberland...but geez, that's over my head I think. Got me very amped for what's in my own backyard though!
As you know the camera underplays the jumps too! That second to last jump was gnarly. I was not planning on hitting those jumps, but it just felt right at the time.
Thanks for your attention to detail with 4K processing, even though I only watch on a 4K display maybe a 1/3 of the time, its bitrate really does make such a massive difference in the viewing experience when it comes to mtb videos, even in a window on a monitor or a phone. 🙏
@@SkillsWithPhil I still recommend people do that if they're not willing to shoot and edit in 4K, drives me wild seeing otherwise good mtb content ruined but shitty 1080 bitrates!
Your flow and style is insanely cool man. I just recently got a new bike and I’ve been bingeing your videos to try and learn a thing or two. Big love from New Zealand!
To answer your tree question: What you had in your hand was Douglas Fir. Doug fir only grows from coastal northern california, Oregon Washington and halfway up coastal British Columbia but provides 70% of the worlds building and construction Lumber. The coastal forests around the Pacific Northwest are also filled with red and yellow cedar and Hemlock and occasionally some Sitka Spruce. Hardwoods in the boggy wet areas would be mainly Alder and Maple. Once you get towards Kamloops youll see a lot of Ponderosa Pine. As a born and raised PNW resident and mountain biker, I learned a whole new appreciation for the forests once I started working the logging industry. Plus I get to find the sickest spots to build trails that I otherwise wouldnt have ever known about 🤙
Really enjoyable video Phil! It always amazes me how top-tier riders like yourself ride these trails with such ease. Awesome riding and I just love the stoke factor, great video! 🤙
It's always fun getting to experience new places. I'd heard so much about the island but finally experiencing it, i get why is so many incredible riders originate from there. And you aren't kidding, Prevost was quite the introduction!
You were definitely feeling the flow through that jump line section. It was like you weren’t so sure about it, but it was just feeling right and you kept it up till that one deep landing. So fun to watch.
Something we rarely see is 3rd person video of your riding. Watching pops into orbit is amazing but seeing your body position and movements behind your riding… that’s something I’d pay for. Especially with slow motion explanation.
Hey phill awesome job in these trails ur amazing!😁😁😁 Edit 1: ur biking is awesome but I have to say that the way u in courage your friends is a whole lot more amazing. Keep up the awesome work👍👍🚲🚲😁😁
So cool man. That's some decent hang time on those jumps you hit dude. Linking a load like that for the first time, what a buzz dude. The skill's with Phil for sure! (Yeah sorry that was a bit corny)
Been bingeing on Phil videos and this one made me way more nervous (and I live in the PNW). The sound of the gravel in that soil kept making me think something was going to give way under him at the worst moment. However, Our Hero again prevailed with good humor and grace. #ohmeoflittlefaith
I just started mountain biking recently to get some cardio in on days I can't ride my dirt bike and this shit that ya'll do absolutely blows my mind. Holy shit
Kid not, had this playing at .75 playback speed ... Phil sounded like he was drunk, but that's all that gave it away after watching for 3 minutes. Still thought he was flying at 25% less speed. LEGEND 🔥✌️
I suspect you had trouble acclimating to the trail because the soil composition has a different feel. I'm used to riding clay and sand in Utah. Suddenly hitting spongy and a little more grippy loam in BC requires a couple of hours to figure out. Adding water on top just compounds the issue with the variable trail conditions. You picked it up pretty fast! I'm envious and want to ride this trail.
flipping awesome vid, after i hit the blue comment button, watching it again! need to see another you and Nate Hills chasing each other video...go to Europe together and ride for a week...please!
1:37 "I'm a fish out of water",, I think that with a lot of these videos with these narrow down hill courses. I wish I new about this when I was physically able 😂
Those have to be the gnarliest jumps I’ve ever seen. Unbelievable balls to hit those like that, they had to be 10 ft tall take offs and nearly vertical.
Thanks for visiting Phil! Still can't believe you hit most of that stuff blind, you're a mad man!
Thanks for convincing me to swing by the island. Prevost alone was one of the coolest experiences I've had on a bike!

That place is honestly terrifying and so fun at the same time!
Great riding. Even more impressive considering you can’t ride year round on the east coast. You don’t take long to get back to 100% 😂 Love it.
Being off the bike just makes me more hungry too ride when i can. Breaks keep things fresh :)
@@SkillsWithPhil you're not wrong there man. Im on my bike all the time and im constanstly knackered lol
