Great video! I found it fascinating to understand more about the mythical animals of Korea; they are among the most fascinating mythical beings in the world.
@@hslee625625 Actually, its not. Your use of 해치 "Haechi", is directly derived from the Chinese 獬豸 "Xiezhi", which is the etymological name of the more commonly used 해태 “Haetae” of today.
The belief in the worship of Dokkebi is found during the Silla and Goryeo periods, originally worshipped as a god and then reduced to a folk belief. According to a literature, a bridge was built overnight, and it seems that it was a god who granted people's wishes.
I just Watched the 1st episode of kingdom, a Korean horror series. Some eat human meat and turn into zombies. I'm trying to see if there are Korean folktales/lore about Cannibalism, like the wendigo for example
It finally arrived 🤩, excellent video 😊👍, it was very interesting and I loved learning more about the creatures from Korean mythology, they are very interesting 😊, for a future video how about Vietnamese mythology, to see what deities it has, Greetings from Paraguay 🇵🇾
Over half of these (haechi, gumiho, imugi, bonghwang, gwisin, chollima) are just copy and paste Chinese mythological beings...virtually nothing added or taken away from what they are in China except pronouncing their names in Korean.
You lied to me some of these mythical creatures don't exist in Korean mythology I went on Google to search for them and there is no mention, you're a liar.
The reason we made this video is precisely because there is very little material online about these incredible creatures. You are right that most of them cannot be easily found with just a Google search. Researching them took time and effort from our team.
@@SeeUinHistory where did you find the info about the nokdukk? What’s the Hangul for that? I could only find info about red beans being used for similar purposes. Let me know if you could point me to any additional resources.
Hi! We are glad that our content is inspiring you to research and study these topics on your own. A few tips that you can use when researching any mythology that is not mainstream: First, take your time. To make some of these videos, we have to research for weeks, sometimes months.Another tip is to not just search for the name on Google, you probably won't find it. Instead, search for books or articles about that folklore or mythology that interests you, you will find a lot of cool stuff and also understand its cultural context. I hope you have a great journey and we are happy to inspire you to more knowledge
Thanks for the video
Fire video as usual
Love Korean content! Keep them coming!

Correction, the second creature is "Haetae" 해태. The AI voice is trying to apply the Chinese Xiezhi 獬豸 pronunciation of the creature's name.
@SaturnGrl
This is a real human doing the narration, not an AI.
But yes, the pronunciation of Korean names is tricky for us humans as well.👍
해태 and 해치 are two different creatures!

The Hechi, the Gumiho, and the Bonghong have to be my favorite Korean mythical creatures.
