@@Dalek6388 Feel free to pick my brains. What's the best way to get in touch? Jack was very interesting but 100% unquotable... his use of language was very 'strong' to say the least. I was introduced to one of his sons with the phrase: "This is my son... he's a cu*t." I was lost for words although I did manage a weak smile and a handshake.
I'd definitely be interested in a video about cyberman costumes. I've always been fascinated by how drastically they redesigned them in almost every classic series appearance, as if they just never felt happy with any of them
Bit cheeky standing on the TARDIS console there. Reminded me of the character in The Life of Brian who was talking after Brian fell on him and broke his vow of silence and then got upset when people nicked things off of his bushes. I don't mind subliminal messages, except when I can't find and read 'em, but is there gonna be a lot more? It's like they said about snogging in New Who, it does start to happen, but it's probably not everyone's cup of tea.
Of course the first "Black Dalek" in the New Series Whoniverse predated Sec and had brass/gold hemispheres, it was one of the two toys in the remote-control "battle" set with the mostly immobile Rose and Eccleston figures. Presumably painted differently to differentiate it from the other in the heat of arena battle...
I just love to hear anything to do with Daleks in detail even the ones Im not really bothered by as I love the 80s ones but its always lovely to hear backstory of every prop, I guess this is also the case as there's more info on the 60s and 70s as the 80s were not received well and is only getting more attention in recent years on plans and discussions ironic that the 80s Dalek are the more recent models of the classic era, but cant wait to hear more from you guys. also I thing about the loony tunes stuff im sure there is somewhere on here that the guy who built them describes that they borrowed the original ones for the skirt but had to build everything else, im 99% sure its on yt somewhere. the camera thing is also on on here by a youtuber who goes in depth about this "Adam Martyn"
By the way a wheel shaped space station shows up in the inner cover art of the first Hartnell Annual, which is probably the first time one showed up in any pieces of Doctor Who media being released in September of 1965.
Hijackers of Thrax, the March 1965 TV Comic strip has one, I think. It's hard to tell as it's invisible or obscured most of the time, but looks like a doughnut shape.
Really random Question... about 31 mins in where you show the photo of the Daleks at the Green Grocer stall... is that Douglas Camfield top left with the Astrakhan hat on?
Loving the propcast. Great indepth chat. Question. Why, for almost 60 years has none of the merchandise companies ever produced a fleet of model Dalek Ship? My collection is waiting. Keep on Whovianing?
The Radio Times special from 73 shows how to build your own dalek...and has an original story from Terry Nation that reveals the Daleks are descended from humans. Probably a good couple ideas for a video in there, maybe even make your own Dalek...
I’ve always thought on the ‘NSD’ Daleks, the point at which the midsection recession meets either armbox was really, _really_ lazily done. The first long ‘slat’ doesn’t fit into it well at all - there’s still a gap underneath it.
Excellent podcast guys! Enjoyed that a lot and I agree you did sort of limit yourself a bit with the title of your show, only Terry Nation related stuff doesn't give you a huge amount of choice outside of Daleks (and Voord!) 🤣
I DID see the Candid Camera segment years ago, I have been trying to find it. It went like this: The segment was Old, Black and White and aged surely early/mid 60's, Alan Funt the original host explained the set up to the viewing audience at home that people were going to meet up with and interact with what they were told were voice activated robots, they were unquestionably Daleks, and as the people did not recognize them it must have been shot in the United States - so we know from this there were SOME un accounted for Daleks in America at the time. At the end of the segment Funt explained to the Audience who would not figure it out that there was a human operator in each "Robot".

As for the Loony Tunes Back In Action Daleks, if I recall the Gun was a narrow featureless tube that forced a weak vapor out the end - but they were well constructed, one was similar to the ones from 1963, the other had Solar Panels on it's shoulders like in Dalek Invasion Of Earth.
A chap in Bridgewater claimed to have an original dalek for sale. The dome was made from multiple fan like slats. He bought it from Bygone times. It was clearly very very old. Butt the ears looked odd. The dome melted into the lights.
Why do grocers always write the prices of vegetables in that particular way? (see photo of Daleks fighting over a cauliflower on the market) It's like 'The Font of the Daleks' from Dalek Invasion. 🤔
I think you are over-complicating this. The scripts did NOT refer to the Dalek Supreme being Black, just being different. So they created the striped Dalek. Then the production team noticed the later scripts which referred to a Black Dalek - and decided to correct it. My main issue is that I cannot conceive that it was really quicker to paint a striped Dalek (including all the masking required) than an all Black Dalek - so I think the striped Dalek must have been on purpose - and then later considered a mistake by the team. But --- who knows!!! ;-)
Fabulous that Dalek63.88 has been reactivated ! BTW I live on the Stepney Causeway site of the original Dr. Barnardo's home ...my block was built on the site after the home was demolished in 1970 and I often ponder on it's Dalek history
Gosh. Do you remember that from transmission? Because as mentioned in the podcast, the surviving telesnaps don’t seem to back it up. So maybe that was how it was shown, but then they ended up using the wrong props for some scenes?
I'd absolutely love Cybermen vids done with the same great research as the Dalek ones 😄
And a Kraal one!
You're in for a treat :)
Oh that's a good idea, Andy. 👍🤖
Yes. Some Cybermen videos would be… “Excellent”
A very enjoyable chat, gentlemen👍🏼👏💯
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it!
I interviewed Jack Lovel - the man who made the Moonbase/Tomb Cybermen - well, the fibre glass parts - and I'd happily share what he told me.
Thanks Anthony! We’re always interested in new stuff! 🙂

Unfortunately it happens very often. I’m still amazed that people just believe the “I got it off a bloke who worked at the BBC” line.
It would seem that there was a fair amount of chaos during a Richard Martin production. Who'd have thunk it?
