I've been sitting on my hands waiting on the racing beat intakes to pop back in stock for ages. I've really wanted this instead but it wasn't till today that I realized that you've made a MAF version. You now have my money, and I was close to cutting a section of your pipe out and rigging it up myself anyways. Im very excited, and can't wait to put it on my car. I am so glad you have this available to us. Been deliberating between doing something like this with a square top IM or an ITB kit. Going this route will save me $$$ and even some frustration I'm sure.
I seriously can't wait to get mine! Even though the built 1.6 turbo setup I have is fun, I really enjoy the OEM reliability. Also, that brake master cylinder brace is fantastic! Hope to see you at MATG this year Stefan!
Going to be cool to see the update with the intake temps. I can see the plastic piece heating up from sitting millimeters from that large radiator.. but cool idea over all, it’s new
Unless it's heat soaked and you're worried about dipping in to the ten second 0-60's in peak hour traffic . The speed of the air going through the pipe around an auto cross , track or hills it won't spend enough time in the piping to really be affected by the pipe heat. In the GM world we've run over the radiator intakes for years and they sit directly on the radiator and are a foot or more wider pending brand. If you're going to do iat research napp , put one right near the throttle body and one at the radiator piece. Be interesting to see the temperature difference while driving between the two places.
I know this question might be stupid, I did a little research, but what I found is does not exactly apply here (i think). Anyway, the question: Are there risks running this intake and driving in rain? When I researched it, people were talking about hydrolocking the engine, and it doesn't sound like a posibility unless you drive through pools or whole oceans. But any water + engine does not sound good to me. I understand that when you use CAI under the bay, well, the bay is not making it water resistant/water tight, so water gets on the intake, but running it in front of the radiator is different (i think). So - is it a bad idea to use this intake in a stock daily driver?
The only way you’d have an issue with this intake is if you drove it into a lake. It still sits behind the bumper shroud, so it’s hidden from rain, and it’s tall enough that even a huge puddle wouldn’t cause any issues.
@@NappMotorsports Okay! Well the only thing i was scared was going through the motorway at high speeds when its raining. Idk why would it change that much but yeah. Anyway, thank you so much!
Nope! It’s still hidden behind the bumper cover so it will stay dry. Obviously if you drive into a puddle as high as the top of your radiator it’ll get wet, but that would be the least of your worries then 😂
Thanks for the file bro! I'm thinking of printing one out of ASA. A lot of the stock under hood plastic is ASA and might save a few bucks for people over the CF Nylon.
Out of all the places to put na miata cup holders they have to choose under the hood, with two holes near the rad. to either fit your morning coffee, or your after work brewskis. WTF! 🤣 Why use the driver side hole when straight ahead there is the same size hole which can use a plastic plumbing pipe (heated and squished) straight to it with one 90 degree angle plus a fine grain screen to eliminate a huge cone air filter. Hacks people, gotta think outside the box and get inventive and efficient. Thumbs up for this video, it inspires people.
The top radiator hose on the stock radiator wouldn't allow enough space for a squished pipe to go over it. That's why there is the sharp turn straight off of the throttle body heading towards the hole on the opposite side. I think that is why he hasn't gone straight ahead
Is there a way you could angle the intake duct so that the pipe you made needs less bends as shouldn't that reduce restrictions? As im planning something similar to add to my 1.6L
I don’t think so. I’m going to be running one on my Turbo K series. The turbo inlet is 2.5” anyway, so it’s not like a bigger intake is gonna make a difference.
Does the intake manifold make a difference? I'm building a vvt bottom end bp4w head with a squaretop. Any differences between 1.8 intake manifold fitments?
The fitment is the same, puts the throttle body in the same location as oem. It definitely makes a horsepower difference though, and I would highly recommend it. The skunk2 is also a good gain, but it’s more expensive.
I’m back and forth on that. I like the clean look of it not being there, but also a good source of advertisement. It does kind of feel like a car dealership putting their sticker on the car though.
I’m decently new to cars and Miatas, and my question is why is the filter not in the engine bay? I heard cuz the way the layout is in a Miata the intake would be pulling in hot air
I would have two questions. Does someone has a dyno of how much hp it gains on a stock engine ? On the maf version, does this kit includes the idle sensor plug and the valve cover vent ?
I don’t have Dyno data, but the MAF version does have ports for the stock IACV and Valve Cover port, as well as an extension harness so the MAF will plug in like factory.
@@NappMotorsports cool thanks you very much. I think i ll try to make the intake part in carbon fiber. The car is in repair at the moment, both sills are rotten...
What is the difference between the S2 and stock intake manifold kits as far as parts go? Is it just the throttle body coupler size? If so, would it be possible to buy/provide both upon ordering? Thanks!
I did try to fit one to a 1.6. The throttle body slopes down and the coolant pipe is annoyingly in the way. I’ll figure it out shortly but right now I’m swamped with work.

i’d purchase one but i’m broke edit: how much for just the pipe and plastic bit, and filter. no need for powder coating, or fittings, or air port bungs
I’ve seen no issues. It sits high enough above the inside of the bumper that it likely gets a few drops, which the filter will prevent from going through.
This is a huge W. Idk why someone hasn't done something like this yet. There are very few good aftermarket intake options IMO.
It’s not the easiest thing to print, especially out of that material. Super hyped to have found a source for it.

No luck, the AFM and the weird front coolant hose need to be addressed. I might try to get some time this year to work one up.
Will you be making one for the early 1.6 MAFs?!
In the spring I’ll start working on that I hope

NB’s don’t have the cutout like the NA’s do. I might look into it in the future but it isn’t part of my current plan.
This is the cleanest intake layout! I'm hoping for a 1.6 option. Might still get this and use my rx7 afm with it 🤔

Where does the mass air flow sensor go and will it fit the 97 Miata
